I visited this campsite to enable me to walk a section of the Leeds/Liverpool canal The site is being upgraded and the hard-standing areas for caravans are excellent. There is a large touring field with plenty of hookups and water taps. The new reception area is under construction. The toilet block is good but only two showers in the male area which take tokens at £1 each All very clean.
Nearby on the banks of the canal is the Anchor Inn -Very good food beer and location.
Barnaldswick is a mile walk away and again full of good pubs fast food outlets and shops with transport links to Burnley and Skipton. I spent three nights here and will definitely come back. Already planning a visit with my grandchildren

We visited this site last weekend, the owner was very accommodating when we wanted to book in at the last minute. We were met by her husband at the gate and told we could choose any pitch we liked, they have about 12 new fully serviced ones and we chose one of those, brilliant. The whole family are so welcoming and friendly, nice clean toilet/shower block. The site is still a work in progress, ie lots of new planting, fencing etc. Hoping to go back at the Bank Holiday weekend.

Not a site for touring tents.
On arrival there was no clear process for check in and no one to speak to. I was in urgent need of the toilet, which was locked.
We asked another camper and a young man appeared who directed us to a rough patch of grass near the entrance. We were charged £15 for two adults and a two man tent - no EHU needed. This was more than other sites in the area.
The road was busy all night and disturbed us, although we later noted quieter areas more suited to tents.
The toilet block was ill-lit and we could not see to shower at night. The tokens for hot water were an inconvenience, as noted by other reviewers.
No power sockets for a hair dryer or mirrors in the toilet block - even campers try to look tidy. No pegs to hang towels, jackets or washbag and the basins were close together so difficult to put personal items on the vanity area, which was also very wet.
The kitchen sink is alongside the basins. This felt unhygienic for both purposes and as it was in the ladies toilet, prevented sharing the washing up with a partner.
This site may suit caravans with own facilities but definitely not one I would return to or recommend.

Two Adults (aged 13 & 10) + 1 dog, Kampa Bamburgh 6.
Stayed on grass pitch with EHU; we were shown camping field and were told we could pitch wherever our EHU cable would reach.
Large field for tents / tourers / motorhomes which was slightly uneven and could have done with some TLC (a grass cut would have made a difference), no marked out pitches however EHU point was sort of stuck in the middle of the field which made for some 'interesting' pitching, as people seemed to have got to the EHU point and pitched where they landed! Plenty of water points.
On the entrance to the site were the main tourer pitches which were clearly marked and on gravel.
Basic, clean toilet block with separate men's, women's and disabled facilities. Women's consisted of x3 toilets, x2 showers, x2 sinks & x1 veg prep/pot washing sink (didn't like the idea of preparing veg/washing pots in the loos!). A token costing £1 was required for a hot shower, the machine to put the token in was on the outside of the shower though, so had to strip, get everything ready, then wrap towel around you to go back out to put token in which started your 7 minutes of usage time. There was a code system for the toilet block, however we weren't given the code on arrival. On discovering later that a code was needed, unable to get into the loos, tried to telephone the site to request the code but had to leave a message stating my problem on an answer phone. Fortunately, some other lovely campers came to my rescue and told me how to gain access, which was a good thing as I am now home 2 nights later still waiting for my return phone call!
The main disadvantage of the site is the proximity to the very busy road. The tent field runs alongside of the road which is hid by trees, however very much heard throughout the day and night; to a point where each of us struggled to sleep.
The cost of the site at £15/night inc electrics was reasonable, however I felt it would have been much more fairly priced if the showers had have been included in the fees.
All in all a basic site, with clean facilities, however would not return due to the road noise (not a fault of the site owners obviously!).

Having only purchased the caravan the week before our visit, it was with some trepidation that we entered our first caravan park. We needn't have worried!
The owner was very friendly on the telephone and also on our arrival. We were shown to our pitch which was hard standing and screened from the next pitch and very easy to access.
As other reviewers have stated, the toilet block and indeed the whole site, is lovely and clean.
The canal which is close-by is ideal for a leisurely stroll.
Whilst there are no shops in Salterforth the town of Barnoldswick is only a short drive away.
The site is close to a road but we didn't find traffic noise an issue.
As the site wasn't full during our visit, the owner allowed us to stay beyond the normal check-out time which allowed us to see more of the area.
As this was our first venture into the world of caravanning it is impossible for me to compare this to other sites, however, I have no hesitation in recommending this small, quiet location which we would be happy to re-visit in the future.

Great little site. We booked last minute for two nights and will be stopping again. The grounds are well kept and the pitches are level hard standing 'broken up' with trees and landscaping with plenty of hookup and water points.
The toilet/shower block was clean and tidy but its a £1 token for a shower. As other reviews have said the road is quite close but didn't bother us.
There's a mixture of seasonal and touring pitches and everyone we met including the owners were friendly and welcoming. No playground bike riding or ball games but children are welcome (not like some sites we have been to were children are tolerated. )
Our two kids four and nine enjoyed exploring and the canal tow path is five minutes away for walking and cycling. There plenty of good shops in Barnoldswick if you need anything. Skipton is only a half hours drive away make sure you try the jumbo haddock and chips at Bizzie Lizzies fish and chips.

Stayed here 25/05/2012 for two nights we will definitely going back.
Small but very friendly site, three pubs and spar mini market/garage within a 10min walk.
We were in the tent field which is the furthest point away from the road and although there was some noise (mainly the occasional motorbike really) this certainly didn't spoil our weekend.
Toilets/showers were always spotlessly clean and never crowded. Yes the showers use tokens so don't forget to get a couple from reception when you check in. As a man I didn't have any issue with the slots for said tokens being on the wall outside the shower cubicle but its something to bear in mind. Also don't forget to ask for the code for the toilet block door as this is locked at night.
This is a nice friendly basic site, clean and well kept, just what we want from a site.

This was our first experience in a motorhome but we travelled with the rest of the family who were using tents. The site is small but really very pleasant. In fact, we prefer these smaller sites to the large, noisy sites that you sometimes come across.
We didn't use the toilet block as we had our own facilities but I occasionally popped in to 'accompany' my sisters who were the 'tenters'. The toilets were lovely and clean and beautifully presented. I cannot comment on the showers as we didn't use them - we used our own in the motorhome.
The site seemed to be separated into four sections. One was a rally field which was full when we arrived; another was a small compact field which housed tents and motorhomes; a third had hardstanding pitches with grass verges - these held motorhomes (we had one of these and it was a very generous size); and the last section was the field - this was for tents.
When we arrived there was only one other tent in the field (I think the weather put a lot of people off). But - it didn't bother us! Your holiday is what YOU make it:) Anyway, the owner, has the usual rules - dogs on leads, raised camp-fires etc and we had a fabulous time. There is a road nearby but if you're on the 'tent' field you won't hear anything. Even on the other sections, the noise didn't disturb us because the traffic is not heavy at all.
Children are safe as there are hedges all around the site. There aren't any play areas but the tent field is enormous and there is more than enough room for a kick-around. But the lack of a play area didn't bother us - we had two children with us (12 and 8)and they were more than entertained with the 'natural' playground the country has to offer. I've given the site 9 stars for child-friendliness as that was our experience - I do appreciate that for some families, a play area is important - so that's why I haven't given it 10 stars.
We travelled around the area for the weekend (it was the Easter break) and bought supplies - loads of little towns to choose from and all the 'usual' supermarkets etc. Loads of walks on offer for the dogs, so they were happy too.
On Easter Sunday, it was my daughter's 12th birthday. We asked the owner about the best places to eat and she gave us a fabulous selection of local places with directions too! We eventually decided on Langroyd Hall - a Toby Carvery - and it was fabulous! Decent food at decent prices - and huge portions too
Then we returned to the camp-site. My sister had brought a gazebo to put up in the evening and we had the 'party' in there. It was blowing a gale! But, as I stated before, that didn't stop us from having a fabulous time. We decorated the gazebo with balloons and streamers etc. We played games and had an Easter Egg Hunt which the kids loved - and they were shattered from all the running about and the country air. All-in-all, we had a brilliant time.
We will definitely return to this same site as the weekend was not long enough to experience the beauty of the surrounding countryside - there are loads more places to visit that we just couldn't fit in.

Just returned from this site after a 2 night stay with friends. This was my first visit to the site since the new owners took over. The location of the site is good with a nice local pub nearby and the canal within walking distance.
However the site standards seem to have slipped somewhat since my last visit. The pitches aren't particularly wide and its a struggle to fit an awning and caravan on it. Also there is very limited parking on site and the site roadways are narrow and are not of a great standard.
The site was £15. 00 a night but everything appeared to be a £2. 00 extra, awning dog etc so is quite expensive considering the showers are on tokens also and these are a pound each! At the prices being charges I would expect the facilities to be free.
The rally field at this site has also slipped and has gone from being like a bowling green to being overgrown and scruffy also.
I never used the toilets and showers as I have my own free facilities. The token machine is outside of the shower area so you end up using 2 of your seven minutes getting undressed.
All in all would not recommend this site and will not be re-visiting again unless things improve.

We all had a fabulous Easter Weekend on this site with our family and friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back.
Great price, lovely location with excellent views, on the camping field. Also close to Barnoldswick lovely place to visit for some gentle shopping. Close to Skipton, which has a fabulous market and great shops. You also have Pendle Hill with all its beautiful countryside.
No park or swings on site, but the local pub just down the road and also across the road from the pub have nice parks.
Also lovely walks down the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
