Where do I begin - this site has been a god send, after my mother was suddenly taken ill and admitted to Wrexham hospital, we brought a caravan to help with family accommodation whilst she was there. The owners have allowed us to keep our caravan sited for a very reasonable amount each week and paying for hook up as and when we are there. I would like to say a very big thank you to them. The owners are pleasant, polite and helpful and are happy to leave you to your own devices. The site also has CCTV for added security.
The site is exceptionally clean and well maintained, showers and toilets (2 female and 2 male) are always hot even at peak times and this is included in your daily rate.
The site is mowed on a regular basis, there is no rubbish on site and there is a chemical disposal unit and dishing washing facilities. Theres also a small freezer to use for ice blocks. The site has excellent drainage and even during the worst of this years weather it has not been muddy or boggy (and boy does it rain up here). But when the sun shines, the site is like a little sun trap and there is loads of wildlife to be seen.
The site is very large and there are plenty of electric and water points around the site. The pitches are very well spaced and there is no overcrowding. There are large grassy areas, ideal for dog walking, kids playing ball games etc.
The site is ideally located for oswestry, welshpool, wrexham and chester and there are several small villages within 1 mile, providing shops, pubs, takeaways and a large caravan store for all those little bits you may need.
Overall an excellent site, would recommend to everyone.

We stayed here last weekend and loved it. It is a massive park area where you can pitch up anywhere you like as there are no marked out pitches. There was loads of room as it was a quiet weekend. There were rabbits hopping around the fields early in the mornings when we woke.
There are a few level pitches but it can be a bit uneven, although it isnt too bad but recommend you have your ramps handy.
It was a fifteen minute walk to the centre of the village where there were loads of pubs to choose from. The local chinese was highly recommended but we didn't have chance to try it out. The railway station is also there which provides easy access to Chester in about 30 mins.
The toilet/shower block was spotless all throughout our stay, the showers were lovely and powerful and hot!
We were able to leave the caravan on site a bit longer on the day we left while we went to a local event which was very handy.
We didn't take our kids this time but I am sure they would have had a great time running through the trees. We didn't see any play areas for them but there seems to be plenty of places to explore.

Very friendly owners, £15 a night with electric and awning.
Toilet block clean and tidy, electric showers and heated.
Most pitches are sloping, so you may need leveling gear, there are some level pitches as you enter the site, the owner let us park where we'd like.
There is some road noise, but it's not that bad.
Ruabon is a 10 minute walk away, Ruabon has good bus connections, if you want to go too llangollen use the number 5 service, doesn't run Sundays, there is also Ruabon station with connections to Chester, North Wales and Shrewsbury.
There is a cashpoint in Ruabon, and a Nisa store, also if your a real ale drinker like me, use the Bridge End.
We will definitely use this site again, as it's a perfect base to tour North Wales.

This is our sixth visit, we like the peace and quiet we find here,as it is the perfect place to relax with a good book and just watch the rabbits and the rest of the world go by.
The shower and toilet block is spotless and there is always hot water. Power points and drinking water points are scattered all around the site but you will need a good extension if it is busy.
There is a small flat site on the left as you approach the main building or you can pitch anywhere you want on the main site which undulates through mature trees and open grassed areas.

I echo all previous reviews stating that it is a gem of a site. We used it as a stopover on our way back from down South. Easy booking / check - in and lovely clean facilities. Beautiful grounds - some places would have required chocks as ground could be hilly - our spot luckily was a level one.
Would happily recommend the site for anyone to use - didn't visit any pubs or restaurants in the area but there were some within walking distance.

We have just returned from our second weekend this month at James'. A lovely, quiet site, with nice and clean (but basic) facilities. Unfortunately, there was a rally on in the field we were on last weekend, so we had to park on the hill by the windmill - at least we had TV reception this weekend!
One minor point, though, is the 6 Amp electricity, with a notice advising 'no Heaters'. Everything in our Motorhome worked, apart from our 'normal' kettle, which tripped the switch. Luckily, we carry a whistling gas kettle with us as back-up!
All in all, a nice relaxing break and a place we will return to again and again!

Stayed at this site for a 3 night break in July. Not stayed here before but visited earlier in the year when our sister in law was staying there. My review is as follows:
Location: close to busy A road but no problem for us as it was not too noisy to spoil our stay. You can pitch anywhere which is excellent but you need a long electric cable as points some distance away. Close to Wrexham and Llangollen.
Facilities: really good standard. Clean, warm and lots of hot water.
Overall view: good little site. Not too badly priced but I suppose this is reflected in basic facilities. Owners polite and respectful and kept an eye on site to ensure everyone is ok.
Would I return - yes absolutely. This site is basic but a little gem of a site.

Good facilities here - the toilet/ shower block was extremely clean and very well maintained. Dish washing facilities were adjacent to the toilet block and the water was hot! The site is well maintained and is around a 10min walk from Ruabon train station. There was lots of room and we were the only tent pitched. The noise from the main road was quite loud all night and there isn’t much in the way of hedging or trees to block it out. Also there are some bright lights around the site, so be careful where you pitch! There was a lot of information and leaflets in the covered area with plenty to do and see in the area.

Again the not so brilliant bits followed by the best of bits !
First of all, this site will be a real test of your levelling skills ! make sure you bring your levelling gear.
The disabled shower is in need of sorting out. There was a fault with the unit and had been like that now for two weeks with the unit going between power and auto reset making it either freezing cold or so hot it could burn. We have a disabled lad and we struggled to get him sorted with the shower.
There is noise from the main road but you kind of get used to it.
There is no pitch marking on the site and its a sort of first come first served and there is a limit of 40 units in total allowed on the site. There a number of electric hook ups over the place so be prepared to get those extensions out on a busy weekend in the place.
There is only one washing up sink and not to be too finicky about things but we watch someone washing their car mats in there and sorry no, thats not what they are designed for and the washing up sink is right next to the elsan disposal point so not really good in our opinion.
The facilities block looks quite dated and has electric showers but are adequate not brilliant.
And finally it appears that there is going to be an industrial estate built opposite the site in the next field spoiling the excellent current view see the signs for the sale of land for industrial units by the roundabout for Ruabon.
So gripe over what's good about the place then.
There looks to be an excellent level rally field. We didnt go in it but it is level, concealed from the roads by hedges and has electric hook up. Potential UK Campsite meet there !
The access into the site is well signposted from the roads. The site is well placed for visiting the area for Llangollen, Wrexahm, Oswestry.
The facilities entrance area has a freezer for your blocks and a telephone (out of order on our two visits) and a wealth of information on the local and other areas of interests.
There is a security camera that watches the site with entry to and from so seems ok.
The current view on the top of the hill side is excellent and looks over towards Llangollen and to the right Ruabon mountain. There is a lovely cooling breeze across there but we still managed a big BBQ session and it was lovely.
There is a number of residents vans on site both on the top side and in the wooded area and a road around the site but watch out for the wooden posts going up the hill if you have a wide unit.
There is some nice natural wildlife with the birds and rabbits and the grass areas are well mowed and clean. It was actually nice to walk around bare footed for while before the rains came !
We had two weekends here. The big question is would we go again. I think so. It is currently reasonable value for money and I think we would go again, not for while as our diary is very full but the site is open all year round so we are informed and it would be interesting to see what they charge of out of seasons weekends. Its not a bad site not a brilliant site and there could be some improvements but we have stayed on far worse and the fact remains we would return to this site.
As previous reviews we have done we will give this site a C at present.

I stayed here while getting used to my motorhome. I was pleasantly surprised as the site is only a few miles from my home.
It is situated right next to the A493 dual carriageway but this is no detriment as the sound didn't seem to bother me.
The site is quiet and has no play areas or amenities but is ideal for couples alone and families wishing to have a comfortable stop for just one night.
The toilet block is superb and spacious but the site itself is not well lit at night so take a torch !
There is a freezer where you can re-freeze your ice packs.
There are mature trees everywhere and it really is beautiful with electric hook up. Fabulous hot water at an outdoor sink area for washing pots.
The town of Wrexham is five miles away for wonderful shopping and Chester just 15 miles along the A493. You are also not far at all from the adorable town of Llangollen, famous for its Eisteddfod and canal. All in all a very pleasant experience.
