We have just returned for a long weekend at this site with quite a large group and I have to say it was excellent. The site is literally 2 miles from the M62 but it is in a lovely position and the comments in other reviews about the views being amazing are spot on. Access from the main road is via a narrow bumpy road but we managed to get in no problem with a caravan in tow. On arrival, the staff were really helpful and explained everything we needed to know and how to get to our pitch. The pitch itself was large and flat with great views over Saddleworth Moor. We were fortunate with the weather (I had read reports about it being windy beforehand) for most of our stay but on morning we were packing up it was really windy so my advice would be to check the forecast before deciding on an awning.
We did have a drive out to a local pub for something to eat and it was lovely and from what we saw there are a few nice pubs within a short drive to choose from. With access to the M62, I also think that for people who wanted to stay a little longer and venture further afield there would be plenty of attractions to choose from.
The wash facilities were new and always clean which was great, My only slight gripe would be that there was only 2 showers which I think is a little on the low side. The site was quiet when we went but I think there might be an issue in busier periods. All other facilities that you were expect were functional so no concerns here.
This site is under 30 minutes from where we live and we will definitely be going back in the future. We have stayed in other sites in the area and used them for a quick weekend away but this is our favorite so far.

We stayed at this gorgeous site for 4 days whilst visiting local attractions like last of the summer wine tour, great value at £8 per adult, east lancs railway in bury a rover ticket for £14 entitles all day travel. We also went to hebden bridge and the standedge tunnel experience £4. 50 for a trip into the tunnel.
The campsite is well laid out with views that are just stunning, there is electric hook up and drinking water next to each plot and there is a couple of glamping pods, there is also a newly built shower and toilet block with wash up at the end and a chemical toilet point the other end.
One criticism when using showers make sure you put clothes in waterproof bag and hang on hook nearest door as water does splash everywhere.
The owners of the site are extremely lovely people and can not do enough for you.
The printers arms just down the road is a lovely pub with a beer garden overlooking the moors and the staff are very friendly, they also do food but did not eat there as we cooked in the campervan, major supermarkets like asda, tesco,
morrisons are all within driving distance and there is a brilliant chippy in denshaw.
If you want a campsite to totally chill out then this one is for you.
It cost us £18. 00 per night with hook up.
Would definitely stay here again.

This site has some of the most breathtaking views we have seen from our caravan.
We arrived on a damp afternoon and were given a warm welcome by father and son owners. Access is via a narrow lane from the main road and then through the security barrier up a steep tarmac road to the pitches landscaped into the side of the moor.
Once pitched up we noticed we one of only 3 caravans out of 20 that had erected an awning. Later we found out why, as when there is the slightest wind, with no cover, it blew like nowhere we have been before!
Mainly hard standing pitches on site all of which are level with electric and water close by.
The toilet block, which looked brand new, was warm and always clean, with plentiful hot water to the two showers in each male and female toilets.
There were a few seasonal pitched caravans on site. Fees are reasonable and if we went again we probably would not take an awning.
Oldham is 10 minutes away, where there is a free P&R for the regular tram service to Manchester, a day family railcard was excellent value at £14. 00 (off peak).
Many excellent pubs and villages in the area combined with great cycling countryside and walks from the site make this one of the best sites we have visited. Don't leave without trying the excellent pies and cakes from the bakers in Upper Mill. Lovely!

This is a gem of a site for us 30 minutes max away from home but like a different world. We visited here the weekend and Friday was absolutely throwing it down - however once the tent was up and the fire on it was wonderful. The pitch was well drained and the views amazing! The Saturday was clear and dry enabling us to go for a lovely walk with the dogs. The reception was very helpful and gave us some walks to go on. The toilet/shower facilities were very clean and lovely hot showers. Great site and will definitely go back - thanks for a lovely stay!

Our first time out in 'Bessie' and my first time in a touring caravan ! perfect site for my introduction, after having a puncture en-route we arrived 2 hrs later than expected to be met by a friendly face who even helped us get bessie settled on her pitch, awoke in the morning to the most stunning views I have ever seen and surrounded by the nicest campsite I have imagined, with our own fresh water supply which was a godsend as we were soon to discover the water pump on bessie had died !then on to the showers where I was expecting not quite sure what, but boy I was surprised. Immaculate and clean smelling toilets and showers, what more could we want, stunning surroundings perfect to chill, relax or take a walk in the breathtaking countryside and perfect facilities so all in all we had a fab time and will certainly be going back, well worth a visit.

This site is set in a beautiful part of the world. Its very well laid out with the static vans laid out on terraces and not obtrusive at all. Going up the lane you come to the touring park at the top of the hill. Its laid out with hard stand and electric, some pitches have water on pitch. Its beautifully kept and neat. The views are stupendous. Its a very quiet site, the only sound is the occasional child playing. The camping field has two pods and is a great big field with views over the reservoir. The toilet block is new. Its consists of gents, ladies, disabled and wash up facilities all in separate rooms of course. The ladies has two showers and three toilets. Beautifully clean. Overall I haven't much to give this site except praise and we will be back. One or two negatives though, no soap in the toilets. The light in the toilet block comes on with movement. So when you visit the cubicle or shower, in the dark, it goes out and this can be disconcerting when you find your self on the loo in the dark. Overall love the site and will be back.

We have just returned from a 3-night stay. We had rain, winds and sunshine. As a caravanner I am happy with all three so no complaints there. The site is high up and very exposed to the elements but if you do your research as I did then you will know this before you get there. The visit was just me and the wife. This is not a site I would visit with my grandchildren as there really is nothing for them to do, again do your research and you will know that, but I would happily return again with just me and the wife.
The owner (and his son) was pleasant and helpful. I told him I wasn’t happy with the space he allocated for us so he immediately moved us (with no complaints) to a different space, that I was happy with.
The toilet/shower block on the touring field looks new, very clean and nicely set out. I didn’t use the shower facilities as I have a shower in the caravan. (Don’t see the point in towing a shower cubicle around with me and then not using it). I did use the toilets then found there was no soap to wash my hands with afterwards. I had to walk back to the caravan to wash my hands. So come on Steve you must have spent a real load of money on that toilet/shower block so put an extra few quid into some soap dispensers.
There is a small but allegedly deep pond on site that was not fenced off. There was a sign warning of deep water but I can’t see this being much use for young children wanting to explore. As there were quite a few children on-site I think fencing off the pond would make the area much safer.
Overall our caravanning experience at Moorlands Caravan Park was good and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet relaxing time.
Now for the disappointing bit. The nearest pub was the Rams Head. It was nothing like the beautiful clean décor as shown on their website. It was grubby, the whole place needed a good cleaning, the tables were sticky and the owner/manager was miserable and rude. The food was average. I would definitely NOT recommend the Rams Head.

Just returned from 2 nights at this site, there was six of us two caravans and one motorhome. We chose this site as not too far from Uppermill for the Yanks Weekend.
The Site is nice, toilets very clean, the views are lovely. It does get windy on this site but Steve the owner did warn us of this before we arrived. The owners are very friendly and the first night some campers were noisy resulting in one caravan leaving the site. Steve personally came to see us to apologise, we had not been affected by any of this. He had told the offenders to leave the site which they did. You cant ask more than that. We all ate at the Rams Head lovely food we all had the fish and chips just one thing though if you don't do SALT tell the waiter as you order because the chips came with salt on them. Other than that a lovely weekend was had on this site. We are hoping to return soon as its only a few miles from home.

Friendly site owner, very helpful, and he came round making sure everything was ok.
The views are amazing, although the wind is strong up on the top of the moors! A great base for the surrounding area. We went to the brass competition. Highly recommended
Facilities are clean and well maintained. The showers are very hot. The pitches are level and well maintained. A lovely site and very peaceful.

Nobody gives out awards for camping out on a hillside in ridiculous weather.
A camping Pod is like camping but without the bravado. The forecast said rain, thunder and lightening, (well it was August). So the Camping Pod it was then.
And it was magnificent! The views from our bed were amazing, un-interrupted for as far as the eye could see. With the luxury of electric and a heater which warmed our toes when the hail made it through our boots!
A fantastic hot shower in a new toilet block was the icing on the cake.
Would highly recommend and we will be back, come rain or shine.
