Just returned from a lovely couple of nights camping here. We were a group of 9 and they were very welcoming of us.
The camping field offers amazing views of the area and the reservoirs below it. The whole area is full of public footpaths and we could have spent a lot more time there exploring the area.
The new toilet block was in progress but looks like it is going to be fantastic and the owners were very happy to allow us use of the facilities which were already up and running.
They were happy to answer all of our questions and considering the size of our group they were very accommodating.
Will definitely be going back there next year!

Fortunately we only stayed here for one night. The owners were very friendly and took time to tell us about the developments of the top of the site, which was like a builders site.
We were put in basically a parking space with hook up.
The toilets had tiles missing off the wall and the window frames were broken and stuck open, they were also dirty.
The washing up room was a dark tiny little room with bare pipes and plastering.
The whole place seemed tired and old, even the statics which seemed to make up most of the site were dirty, apologies if you own one!
Sorry but we won't be going again.

Visited last weekend when the weather was lovely, this is not a site for camping in rough weather: the camping field is right on top of the hill. Lovely views, but even last week it was breezy.
I think the camping field has been relocated since the previous review: we stayed on a huge field with about 4 other tents on it. Great views and loads of space for the kids to run about. Lots of sheep poop too, bring a spade.
The loos are a long walk from the camping, and getting a bit old, but clean enough.
All in all, it was grand for a night, but I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

October 2004 This is not so much a caravan site as a residential site that lets tourers on. There are only a few pitches and most will not be able to fit an awning. The majority of the site is made up of statics and tourers on a seasonal pitch. While we were there, there were some kids doing their 'Duke of Edinburgh' but the "camping field" is extremely small and would appear to be in someone's garden. This site is popular with walkers as it is close to the Pennine Way. Indeed, the surrounding area is littered with footpaths. It is situated on a hill on several levels and your next door neighbour's wheels could be level with your roof!
It's got all the usual facilities and the toilet block/showers are very modern although unheated. Got charged £8 a night, including hook-up. If you're a walker, this could be the site for you or if you just fancy some peace and quiet the site does not allow residential children.
