Spent four nights at the country park with our daughter. Beautiful caravan - courtesy of the Briggs family in beautiful surroundings. Site very quiet although there are regular trains running on the main line close to the site which would be quite noisy in tents. On site there is a bar/diner (all food made on site!) with a small playpark outside and a small shop stocking the essentials.
There is loads to do around Beattock and we enjoyed a day out at Dalscone Farm park, which was great for younger children. Would definitely return to this site!

We originally intended to overnight at the CCC club site in Moffat, but this was fully booked, and we were directed here instead.
This is a large camping park, mostly static units but with a reasonably sized area for tourers. This is very undulating, and only a small proportion of pitches were sufficiently level to be considered. The nearby toilet block is not as bad as some reviewers have suggested, although we have seen better, and at £20 a night for an uneven grass pitch with electric hookup, it's not the cheapest site around. We tried without success to get digital TV reception, as the signal was too weak. A strategically placed tree also messed up our satellite reception, so it was a tv-free evening for once!
There is a bar and games room next to reception, and they do meals, which is as well as there is nothing worth mentioning in the small village.
On the site there is a lake, but access is via rough tracks and there are no facilities such as picnic tables there, which is a pity.
For us though, the main downside was the noise. This has to be the noisiest site we have visited for some time. It's only 100 yards from the west coast main line - with trains rumbling by every few minutes - and the busy M74 is not much further away. It is also a site where people seem to consider it acceptable to have their radio on outside blaring out pop music. So if it's peace and quite you want, give this one a miss. However it's probably not bad for families.

Just got back, spent Friday and Saturday night here, staff very friendly and helpful, some pitches on a slight slope, told to pitch where we liked with plenty EHU, toilet and showers plentiful and clean if a bit dated. Bar prices ok and food in restaurant was good, Saturday nights entertainment was Karaoke and Disco. Mixed site with Lodges, Statics, seasonal pitches and tourers, they are also building lodges around the loch, children's playground behind restaurant, only 5 mins from Moffat which was a lovely town and 15 mins from Dumfries. Thought it was a great wee site and only paid £14 per night.
Will definitely go back.

Got a pitch here as couldn't get anywhere else and fancied a couple of days away.
We couldn't use the touring pitch as our car is not up to pulling the caravan through mud (and it was pouring down) so we were put in the small hardstanding enclosure right by the reception/main gate where the motorhomes go.
The reception and bar seemed ok (didn't use them) - the kids playground was a few plastic baby slide on gravel - bit strange!
The toilets were a good 5-10 mins uphill walk and were simply awful. I have been in a few dodgy loos in my time but these were vile - smelly, dank and dirty. Inside you had to go down a few steps to where the showers were and the whole area was just like a swimming pool - obviously the showers just ran into the area.
The 'fishing loch' looked like a stagnant pool - there was so much weed on it we didn't even attempt to fish there (and that was a reason we came) and the woodland walks. Muddy pitted ruts that only took you to areas marked private.
Totally not our cup of tea at all - and just to round it off we were right by the main train line and had them going every hour during the night.
(on a different note the staff could not have been more helpful - our car broke down and we had to call the RAC and we were worried it was after 12 and we should have left but they were really nice about it all)

Used this site for stopover on-route to western isles. Warm greeting by site admin, told to park wherever we liked. Site is very steep so limited parking for twin axles unless you have large chocks
Seemed to be occupied local workers, lots of seasonal pitches with unkempt caravans, not really a touring site.
Very poor showers, really in need of total makeover.
Close to moffat for food and drink.
Really glad only stopped one night

Just back from a very enjoyable couple of nights at Craigielands park in Beattock, only 5 mins drive from the lovely town of Moffat.
This is a very relaxed site with a picturesque setting. Staff are very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for reception and clubhouse staff.
There's a clubhouse on site with reasonably priced drinks. Live singer, bingo and karaoke kept us entertained each evening - we didn't try the site restaurant while we were there so can't comment, but the menu looked varied and fairly priced too.
We booked in at reception when we arrived and were told to help ourselves to a pitch. Pitches aren't marked out - its a bit of a free for all. Unfortunately most pitches at this site are on quite a slope which gave us a few problems. Our folding table and chair set didn't cope too well with the hill and our inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags had slid down the slope a fair bit during the night too!
Toilet blocks were OK - a bit dated but clean enough with plenty of hot water.
All in all a nice site for a weekend stay.

Have visited this site often over the last few years, it was always a good friendly site, the bar area was children friendly, nice walks within the park area so decided to go back in august 2008 for a few days to see if the building work had made any improvements but sadly wont be back again.
The park was taken over about 2 years ago, building work has been ongoing since then but no improvements to the touring area ,still not enough hook ups, toilets very cold and dated, noisy at night to the extent the children were frightened, the only level pitches are taken up by seasonal vans and the roads have dangerously large pot holes. For £20 a night could get better.
The surrounding area moffat only 2 miles away has lovely shops, a fishing area and large garden centre.

You wouldn't want to shower or use the loo here. :( Cold, old, dirty.
But, the staff are welcoming, there's live entertainment on Saturday nights and some pretty woodland strolls close by.
There's lots of large holiday homes/statics on this site, I'd say they take up half if not more of the whole site. That's a really pretty area to walk around and the residents are warm and welcoming.

Booked this site by phone as advert looked good for a campervan and tent. We were quite disappointed when we arrived and struggled to find a pitch as it is a hilly site. We ended up right beside the road which kicked up a lot of dust. The toilets were old but reasonably clean and water was hot every time we needed. Didn't use the bar area etc. Was okay for the £20 per night (incl elec).
We were told when leaving that new owners are taking over soon and hope to invest and revamp site soon. If we're in area we'd see if there was a decent pitch first then book in.

Took our caravan for a 4 day trip. It took us over an hour to find a half decent spot. As its very hilly none of the pitches left were very suitable. In the end we pitched up rather close to a seasonal pitcher. Lucky for them they weren't there at the time. The lack of electric hookups prevented us from getting other spaces.
The following day I took my daughter for a shower. Got her ready to go in and put the shower on and it was freezing, left it to run for a few mins still freezing. Tried another shower to find it was the same. The cleaner was there at the time and advised a lot of people had had showers and the boiler wasn't able to cope! I don't understand this. As you expect quite a few people to be taking showers in a campsite. I ended up getting my wee one dressed and took her back to her dad while I had a cold shower! Not pleasant
We had been before and the toilets are still poor.
Love the entertainment. Have heard new owners are taking over in august. Here's hoping they spend some money on the site as its a great site and one I would visit more often if only they could improve on it.
One thing I want to mention is the lack of soap in the toilets. Over the time we were there there was no soap in the toilets or even the toilets in the pub. I find this hard to believe in this day and age.
