Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Entertaintment we had for the Kids was good (bubbles the clown)
The toilets were very clean. The toilets are very old n poor. Could do with being with being upgraded a bit, though having a hot shower was very relexing
The roads are the site could be doing with a bit of work on them its just all dusty and gravel.
The migets are terrible, got bit hundreds!
Enjoyed our stay, and Moffat was close with plenty to do there.
When we pitched our tent in a good spot, mind you there is a lack of power points we had to move ours due to one of them being a seasonal pitcher??! As paying £20 a night you expect more!
Had a good time in all!

Staff were all very helpful and friendly.
Nice bar area and restaurant with reasonable prices.
The toilets werent very clean. But my husband advised the males had been cleaned where in the ladies the grass from the previous day was still lying. The toilets are very old n poor. Could do with being with some money being spent on them.
The site is poor to look at. Could be doing with the roads round being resurfaced. Its just all dusty and gravel.
Enjoyed our stay, and Moffat was close with plenty to do there.
When we pitched our tent the following day we went out and returned to find a folding camper right beside us! They then had the cheek to fill the space in between with a small tent, they were very noisy and couldn't understand why they didn't go elsewhere as there was plenty room, and no other tent was on top of each other!

Took my son and his pal camping to this site for 2 nights on a bank holiday weekend. Cost £10 a night and we found a flattish spot up beside the log cabins to pitch our tent.
The site has a pub and diner both are clean with reasonable prices. There is also a small amusement arcade and playpark for kids.
The toilets and shower rooms were clean and there were disabled facilities.
The site offers a fishing pond and has good countryside walks round about. The lovely town of Moffat is 2 miles away and has a large trout fishery / garden centre and plenty of shops.
We enjoyed our short stay and will visit again in the near future.

Having just returned from a weekend visit to this site I have to say we will not be returning.
On arrival at the site the entrance is pot holed and very muddy. When we entered the office to book in the person at the desk finished a telephone call and then put together mailing to send out before speaking to us. We were not given a plan of the site or any information about the local area.
We then joined the rest of our party who arrived before us. The ground was so muddy and the drainage so poor our van (a VW Camper) got stuck.
Eventually when parked up we had time to look at the rest of the site. There were gravel areas where there had been vans but were all overgrown and untidy, there were large muddy patches and really not much grass at all.
The toilets were clean but again in a general state of disrepair. A lick of paint and an update are sorely needed.
We visited the onsite bar in the evening. One of the staff (who had clearly been drinking a lot) was rude and threatening. We complained to the staff in the bar but nothing was done.
Later that evening there was a huge bonfire outside one of the static caravans and a lot of noise.
On leaving the site the following morning the staff member who threatened us the previous evening lurked about us until we left. We went into the office to complain but again the person staffing the office was on the phone. The member of staff then followed us in. We left - never to return!
There aren't any redeeming features in Beattock! One pub, no shops and lots of yards!

Useful as a stop-over site if Moffat site is not available, close to M74. Huge site, dominated by static units and timber chalets - the CCC handbook photograph shows only the fishing loch and woodland. Has an on-site bar with TV and food, but the noise of this does not reach the camping area.
Campers use a sloping area in the middle of the statics - at busy times it's difficult to find a level pitch and motorhomes will need levelling wedges. Large toilet block inevitably shows signs of high use (e.G. Soap dispenser empty) and is marred by the number of prohibitive signs threatening to throw people off the site if found doing a range of bizarre things (e.G. Children throwing toilet rolls). On the good side, there is an off-lead walk beside the pretty fishing loch so the spaniel was happy.
Surrounding area - Moffat nearby has a famous sweetie shop (Moffat toffee is more like a mint), good butcher, independant wine merchant, and good walks up Gallows Hill and along the river. Other attractions worth a visit are a fair distance away e.G. Dumfries, Drumlanrig Castle Country Park, Grey Mare's Tail waterfall, Forest of Ae walks.

As the C&CC site at Moffat was full we found a pitch here and at £11 a night it was actually cheaper than the C&CC site. We were told to find our own pitch and directed to a somewhat slopping area in front of some holiday chalets. Toilets and showers were clean but their layout was somewhat confusing where they have been extended over the years and disabled facilities added. There was a bar with live music on site and we thought we may be disturbed by this but in fact had a very peaceful night. The site seems to be mainly static vans and chalets and building work on the site seemed to indicate more static vans would be arriving soon. There are large fishing lakes and pleasant areas to walk dogs past the static vans. It would not be my first choice of site but there was certainly nothing to complain about.

We stayed two nights at Craigielands over a wet weekend. There is some construction work ongoing at the site and as a result the entrance is a bit potholed and muddy and not very welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were allowed to pitch our Vango diablo 900 anywhere in the touring field. The touring field is on a gentle slope however we managed to find a more level pitch at the top end of the field near the wooden lodges. We also had a hookup which proved useful during the wet weekend. The toilets / showers and dishwashing facilities were all very clean and not too busy. There is a childrens playground at the entrance to the site which has a couple of trampolines, swings and a chute. This is adjacent to the restaurant / bar so may suit some families with young children. My overall impression of the site was that it was a bit tired and was geared more for static caravans and seasonal tourers. I would probably return at some point in the future when the constuction work was finished.

Well don't let first impressions dissuade you from this site. Big Puddles piles of dirt and diggers lying about. All it means that the siteis in the midst of improvement. We stayed Fri and Sat and although it rained for almost 24hours on the Sat it never dampened out time on-site. We enjoyed it and would go back. The bar is friendly and reasonable. The restaurant is good honest fayre and the toilets were very clean and spacious. Music on most weekends and sport on during Sat and Sun on the TV. Keeps the Dads happy. Little amusement arcade was small but provided a covered area for the kids to be when raining. Play park was a little disappointing but it had 2 trampolines 1 for older kids 1 for younger. Both were utilised really well and kids loved them. 2 swings and a chute completed the park which in essence is the beer garden of the bar. The Shop is a caravan and was open during the day 9-5. So it wasn't any use to anyone who spent all day off site. Path to the lake could have done with paving but I only complain due to the wet weather. On a dry weekend there would be no problems. But in sure the Free fishing woudl offset any gripes with the access to the Lake. there was no defined layout for caravans so it was a bit of a free for all with tents and caravans sharing spaces. Toilets were big and very clean. Plenty spaces for everyone never had to wait on anyone finishing to get a cubicle.

We went here for two nights at the end of July. This was a last minute decision, as it wasn`t too far from the campsite we were heading to next, that couldn`t take us for an extra two nights. We were delighted Craigielands could accommodate our large tent (Nebrasaka XXL) on a pitch with EHU at short notice and even better they didn`t want to charge extra for such a large tent. We found the site easily enough, but were a bit dubious when we arrived as the entrance to the site and indeed the vast majority of the site itself, has a general `run down` air about it. Quite a few of the tent pitches were on unlevel ground, but it wasn`t too bad and there were a few tents there. The shower blocks were clean, but obviously quite old, the showers were free however and we never had to queue once. The washing up facilities consisted of two sinks, but the water was sufficiently hot. We were dismayed however, that during our stay there the bins weren`t emptied and this led to waste being stacked in piles around the bins and it didn`t look very nice at all. There were washing machines and dryers, but we didn`t use them and there were also a couple of rotary dryers which were free to use. We did visit the bar which was reasonably priced, but quite small and so got busy quite quickly. The entertainment was first class on the Saturday night we were there, but we were very disappointed that the new `No Smoking` law wasn`t vigorously enforced. We spend the evening wafting cigarette smoke away, as most people just made a token gesture towards the law and stood inside the doors blowing the smoke outside! The smoke consequently wafted back in so they may as well have not bothered! The campsite did have some lovely scenery and was surrounded by trees. It had an onsite lake with fabulous views and seemed like something from a fairy tale or film, a really beautiful and peaceful place to just sit and relax. We went into Moffat a couple of times and the kids enjoyed the boating lake in the park. We also visited Hammerlands where they loved seeing the piglets and animals there. You can hire equipment there and fish in their lake and this seemed to be quite popular. Moffat itself was pretty small and seemed quiet but it was ok for a couple of days, our kids being at an age now where they need more to see and do. We found a lovely and VERY reasonable fish and chip shop on the main street next to a pub and thoroughly recommend it. Would we go back? Probably not, but it was ok for a last minute two night stay.

Good site with fabulous wild life and tons of birds. Great fishing lake surrounded by Rhododendron's. The on site bar serves good food in a small comfortable restaurant. The perfect halt when travelling north or south and a good centre to stay longer if you wish. Friendly staff and grass or hard standing for tents or caravans. Recommended.
