Second visit to this site and it will not be the last! I don't have much more to add other than what I have already written in my previous review, only to highly recommend this site once again. Ewen, Emma and family who own the site were once again helpful in every way, and the eggs from the hens were delicious! We can't fault this site, love the area, and recommend highly.

This is a brilliant 'hide away' site. We enjoyed our stay so much on the way south we immediately booked in again for on the way home.
There are two hard standings which were just big enough for our 6m motorhome but there are longer grass pitches. There are land drains so hopefully no problems with soft ground although we were on hard standing and it was hot and dry when we were there.
The washroom is near the house and was spotless. Shower in one of the loos and loo/wash basin in the other. Lots of tourist information and a book exchange.
The wash up area has solar heated water and was more than adequate with bowl and drainer provided.
The owners were very hospitable.
We will be back.

We were a family of three with the group of 15 people and 7 dogs and I can only add to what 'mycatdances' has already said. The campsite owners were more than hospitable, and the site does what it says on the tin. A nice, intimate site with only 5 pitches which made it even better for us. All pitches have electric available, there is a clean pot-wash area sufficient for the size of our group, a large barbecue that we made use of, one shower which did break on the second day, but the owner immediately went out and bought a new unit which was fitted very quickly. Clean and welcome toilets with piped music which was lovely. The fire pit is a must!
I advise visiting a sawmill in nearby Longtown to buy some logs/ timber - there are plenty to choose from and half the price you will pay at a local garage/ supermarket. The owner joined us for a drink around the fire which we really enjoyed, and it was easily big enough for us all to sit around and sing 'Kumbaya'.
With regards to a previous negative review about dog faeces, the site was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We certainly were not made aware of a policy to throw it over the fence, and as responsible dog owners anyway, we picked all the poo up and disposed of it correctly. Anyway, a great campsite, a hidden gem, and plenty of walking to do! In the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, 'Hasta la vista baby'. Oops, wrong line! 'I'LL BE BACK'. ;-)

Have just returned from a brilliant long weekend over Easter at this site. We booked the whole site as there were 15 of us and 7 dogs so this was just perfect. The owners are lovely and very helpful. We had perfect weather but there had been lots of rain prior to our visit but the camping field was dry so the new drains have worked. We loved it so much we are returning for a week in June and have already booked for August bank holiday.

Happy new year to everyone.
Glad to say that we have now got new land drainage in the pitching area, so less puddles to contend with in wet weather.
We are also working on upgrading the toilets and shower ready for the 2014 season. Those of you who have visited will know that we used to be limited to a single shower and toilet in a single room. The upgrade will bring us an additional two WC's to relieve pressure at busy times.
We are now taking bookings for 2014 :)

As a result of 2012's constant downpours over the summer the owners have advised they are installing new land drains and a few other upgrades this year. As a result they will not be taking any bookings till further notice.

We had a friendly welcome and our pooch adored the two meadows and the small wood. The site has superb facilities for those with youngsters but:
• We stayed for 10 nights of a planned 11 night visit but 9 days of beautiful sunshine did not manage to fully dry out the main field. (We should have taken the hint on the 1st day as when we arrived, the owner was struggling to rescue a tourer that had been stuck in sodden ground for some time. ) After 1 damp day and 1 overnight downpour, we awoke to find a pond in the awning.
• The site has a policy of throwing dog faeces over the hedge onto the next field (a shovel is supplied to carry out the deed) but the site still has dog dirt dotted around the main field and the car parking area. As we poop scoop after our dog which was never let off lead while we were there and the only other dog on site belonged to the site owners.
• No soap or paper towels/hand dryer in the toilet/shower room.
This is a small site convenient for a border stopover if heading into Scotland but I would recommend watching the long range forecast before putting up an awning.

Used the site as a stopover on our way to Skye and Lewis. Owners very helpful and welcoming. Put the van on a hardstanding with hookup and the tent next to it. It was dry whilst we were there so no problems with ground at all.
Facilities kept clean and piped music in the toilets, solar powered hot water which in this country probably means it's usually cold! Lots of info on local area but as it was a stopover we didn't avail ourselves of it.
We didn't have children with us but there seemed to be plenty for them to do. Lots of space for dog walking, would stay again if ever in the area.
Not far from Longtown with a Spar and Gretna Green wasn't far away.

This was a lovely welcoming and helpful site. Emma and family couldn't have done any more to make our stay enjoyable (despite the weather!). Facilities were lovely and clean, information was readily available. A real home from home. We were so disappointed to have to cut short our stay.
A mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches, with electric hookup. Kids were allowed to roam where they wanted and enjoyed seeing the sheep and had the weather been better could have collected eggs.
A great site to access Hadrian's Wall, Borders and the beautiful Kielder Forest.

It was a real wet summer here in the Scottish Borders last year and not much fun when the ground got sodden. Still managed to snatch the hay though ! It's the kind of ground that takes two days of solid rain to fill up (not unusual last year)and a week of sun to dry out. Not the best at times we must admit. We know, its Emma that trudges across the field in winter with the barrow of hay for the sheep every day. So, lets hope for a cracker of a summer this year. Always happy to refund anyone who gets caught out by the weather.
