The site has a lovely situation, half way up the side of a valley and lying alongside a quiet minor road (that probably carries about 2 cars an hour).
The lady who runs it seemed very friendly. Though the site as a whole is on a slope there are some tent pitches which are flat. It was fairly quiet when we went but I wouldn't like to go when it was busy as the site is rather small and it must feel very cramped.
The toilet / shower block looks grim from the outside but inside it is more modern and is cleaned regularly. However, the floor of one of the two gents toilets always seemed flooded when we were there.
The showers could do with more hooks to hang clothes when you're showering (one shower had one, the other none).

We visited Llwyn yr Helm over the easter weekend, bit of a wriggle to get to and had to borrow a rock from a wall as a leveller. But Oh so worth it!
Made to feel very welcome from the outset, owner even helped us move one of the many picnic benches so the kids could do their colouring while we sorted the awning.
Very clean, safe, fab views, great showers.
Can't wait to go back, peace and quiet is addictive.

After a last minute booking panic, we (myself, my partner, our friends and the dogs) were kindly emailed to inform us that they had two pitches available with hook-up for the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
We arrived on-site and were warmly greeted by the owner – she informed us that they had kept both pitches alongside each other and to pop in when it was convenient.
The views are spectacular and facilities are very clean, albeit basic. There are plenty of local walks, a great pub that welcomes dogs (The Four Crosses) and shops within 5 minutes drive.
We will definitely be going back next summer to sample the views and calm atmosphere of the site (lets hope the sun shines for us this time!)

As first time campers, we were very pleased with Llwyn Yr Helm campsite. The owners were very helpful and friendly, offering suggestions of things to do and places to see.
For a tent and two people, it was only £10/night, which was very reasonable. The toilet and shower facilities were always clean and available (2 gents, 2 ladies, 2 showers - mixed) and showers were 2x20p for a 6 minute shower.
The campsite was well situated - only a 5 min drive to Dolgellau town and 20 min drive to Barmouth. There isn't really much to do in Dolgellau, however it does have some quaint shops. Barmouth has more to offer with the sandy beach, cafes. We went on an excellent sea fishing trip with Viking (book in the Viking shop in Barmouth and pop a deposit down) - it was fantastic, it was £18/person for 2 hours, or £25/person for 4 hours. We went on the early morning trip for 2 hours and caught 10 mackerel! You get to keep what you catch, which was a bonus.
We'd definitely recommend it and will probably be back very soon!

A very friendly greeting and a wonderful campsite, we spent a while chatting on arrival and were given several tips for visiting places around the area. We were told we could pick anywhere we wanted to pitch our tent. We picked the lower field against a stone wall sheltered by a tree.
We were only seconds from a water tap and less than 2 minutes walk from the toilet block which was in the next field. This was impressively clean and full stocked. There was a separate shower room with a single shower, toilet and basin in it. A washing up sink was also located at either end of the toilet block.
No extra charges were made for our very large tent or the trailer we have.
On our last night it was horrendous weather and we popped up to the office to ask where the nearest takeaway was - we were told nowhere was open in Brithdir on a Sunday night, a little later on the owner drove down in his 4x4 and offered to drive us to Dolgellau to collect one! We were extremely impressed with the service.
We loved the campsite and the area and were extremely impressed with the care and attention of the owners - we will definitely return if we visit that area again !

We have visited this site several times over the years and absolutely love it. It is basic with a toilet block and showers and a separate laundry room. Washing up sinks are outside under cover.
It has three separate fields for tents and tourers. The countryside is very peaceful and the views are lovely. You definitely need a car here though as the nearest shops are in Dolgellau which is about 3/4 miles away.
Plenty of places to visit and the beaches are only a short drive away. We will continue to visit this site for years to come. Its one of our favourite.

We booked rather late for a Bank Holiday, but found the owners most helpful with our booking arrangements and when we arrived. The cost was very reasonable at @ £39 for the 3 nights inc E/hook up.
There were 15 of us staying in 4 tents inc 8 adults and 7 children ranging from aged 16 yrs to 4 weeks! Situated on a small B-road just 10 min drive from dolgellau, well sign posted from the main road, within easy reach of most of the coastal towns.
The campsite itself is very quiet, there's not much in the way of entertainment or parks for the kids, toilets were cleaned twice a day as far as we could see, the showers x2 mens and x2 ladies inc one disabled at the lower toilet block charged 40p for 6 mins or 20p for 2.5 mins, but the 2 showers that I had were cold, but in all fairness the site was full, so would advise to get one early, even the washing up sinks go cold after a while.
All in all a very pleasant stay and would defo go back.

Had a really lovely long weekend on this campsite last year. Usually take a caravan but as we were only going for a short break we borrowed a friends tent. The owners were really welcoming and helpful and the site was fairly quiet when we were there and had a nice family feel.
The toilets and showers were kept very clean and the showers were fantastic- just what was needed after a long day out walking in the hills!
The site is only 10 minutes from Dolgellau which is a fantastic little town with some great places to eat and there are tons of lovely walks in the area. When we first visited 3 years ago we bought a small book of local walks around dolgellau from the tourist office (it's still available). If you like walking The Precipice walk is a must for spectacular views and The Torrent walk is a lovely easy walk down a gully just a couple of mins from the campsite.
Would definitely recommend this site to anyone visiting Dolgellau or the surrounding area. The only complaint about the whole stay was that cars sometimes speed very fast on the minor road next to the site which was a bit of a worry with children but it is only a minor road and there isn't much traffic.

Camped here for the August bank holiday with a small, well behaved family group. The facilities were fine, better than some more expensive sites we have used this year. Location is great, up in the hills above Dolgellau but within easy drive of the town and Barmouth and other good coastal towns. The owners were brilliant and very welcoming. We had a bit of a mud problem outside our door and they came over with some plastic flooring to help out, without being asked to. It's nice to meet people who actually care.
Will definitely use this site again.

Tent & Caravan
Stayed for Aug Bank Holiday. It is a good, basic campsite with clean toilet blocks. The owners were extremely helpful & friendly. It rained all weekend but a good time was still had be all, including the 2year & 9 month year olds!
There are 2 washing up sinks, then 2 toilets and 2 showers in both the male & female showers plus another toilet & shower in the baby changing room (which was left open for all to use –thank you). The shower block could do with a 1 more shower in both the ladies & gents. The owner mentioned they may start metering the showers and people were spending too long in them, because they were hot & powerful. That would be a shame as good shower facilities is usually one of the key things for us when picking a site.
