Stayed on this site for 9 nights in August 2010 We selected this site as we don't like the holiday camp sites - we prefer to be closer to nature and away from the caravans with their tv's ever on!

We were allocated a pitch with EHU and shared water tap between 2 pitches however the pitch itself was very small and located between statics with less than 3 feet between our tent wall and the nearest caravan.

This is not a child friendly site, ball games etc were frowned upon and there was no-where at all for children to run about and be simply kids.

The site appeared to be frequented by regulars with statics which were kept on site all year, and many of which were looking tired and weather beaten which gave the place an overall air of being tatty!

The shower facilities were tired and not particularly clean, the owners of the site appeared to spend more time on their ride on lawn mowers tending to the external appearance of the site than cleaning the communal blocks. On one occasion I had to report faeces on the wall of the ladies wc's. The shower units themselves were very small and would not suit anyone of large/ round stature.

The washing up facilities were basic and open to the elements and often without hot water. When we reported the issue to the owners we found them to be unhelpful and the problem was never rectified during our visit.

To our disappointment guests are allowed to arrive at any time of day or night, and we were kept awake one night by the noisy arrival at 4 am of the owners of the static immediately adjacent to our tent.

The cafe/bar area was often full with the regulars in the evening however we had no more than a coffee and couldn't comment.

The location of this site is excellent for Sennan cove and if you require basic camping then it is fine, but do not be mislead by the campsites own information- it is basic- despite the pretty hedges and mowen lawns- it has no more to offer than other basic fields with showers. However it is cheap and although you don't always get what you pay for, you can be sure that if you pay very little you will get very little.

If you want a child friendly site with clean modern wc and showers etc this is not the site for you.

We have been regular visitors of Cardinney for over 9 yrs now and find each visit there just gets better each time. The lane leading to the site has been restored, which did have pot-holes in before, now it`s a pleasure to drive along. As always the owners are as friendly and helpful as ever. The meals are delicious and very reasonably priced and the shop is very well-stocked. Laundry facilities excellent along with the shower blocks and toilet area. Everyone friendly on site and newcomers are made to feel welcome. Quiz nights and karaoke in high season are great fun. Nearby beaches spotless. We married in Penzance this August and honeymooned on site in our caravan - it was wonderful! I cannot think of anything negative to say about Cardinney. Can`t wait till our next visit.

Me and the wife decided to take my 6 year old for his first camping trip and chose this site

On first impressions when we turned down to the site it came across as a farmers field with a narrow lane that could lead anywhere but after a minute you turn into a lovely camping site

There was plenty of room on our pitch for our 5 man tent and car with ease and a water tap almost outside our tent

The toilet a shower room was I found great always hot water in the showers and although you have to keep pulling a cord to get the shower to run for 5 mins

My wife was not as impressed with the ladys showers as the one she was in decided to break halfway though her shower and there seems to be one good shower out of 3 which was always in use

A good point was that after seeing the owners about the broking shower they where very and I mean very quick to fix the fault

There was a little shop and a bar which we both found expensive and a pool table in a room too small for it and no play area for kids

Night time was lovely 10pm everyone respected there no noise rule and made sleeping easy

There are very good points about this site as it is 5 miles away from Landsend and 5 miles away from Penezance and even better 2.5 miles away from Sennen Cove which is one of the best beaches I feel in the area and from here you can park your car for £3.50 allday in the lower carparks and walk a lovely 1 1/4 miles coast walk to Landsend which you can enter free if you drive you have to pay a lot for parking and there is plenty of spaces on the beach and a nice surf too

I would happy return to this site due to its location and look and we all made plenty of new friends

I think the site could do with a play area for the kids and maybe a review on there prices in the shop as 2 big supermarkets are only 15 mins away

The 2 of us stayed 10 days in our 6-berth dome tent with integral sleeping pods, on a single pitch with electric hookup and with room for our up-ended trailer and car. It rained heavily when we arrived and there was a wedding reception in the bar area, but one of the owners' family came out to give us a good welcome, explain everything and show us to our pitch. Level pitches with excellent drainage, it was easy to put in our tent pegs which stayed put and were easy to remove when we left.

The site is well-sheltered by numerous hedges. The access lane to the campsite was kept clear and clean throughout our stay, during which we had very mixed weather. The shop stocks basic supplies (including very tasty thick-sliced bacon). Lots of well-behaved dogs staying. One noise problem with neighbours' music was dealt with promptly and decisively by the owners, and there were no other problems at all during our stay which we really enjoyed.

St Buryan (just over 1 mile away) has a village pub which serves meals (we enjoyed our plaice and chips), and 2 village shops including a Post Office, well-stocked small supermarket and a Texaco garage (their fuel is a bit pricy). St Just is slightly further away, with two small supermarkets, butcher, baker, fruit & veg, DIY & camping supplies, newsagent, tourist information centre and a good range of places to eat. You can get virtually everything there. We had a very enjoyable meal at The Commercial Hotel (we can recommend the trio of local fish, the plaice, and the apple crumble and ice cream). Penzance is just over 5 miles away with out-of-town Tesco and Morrisons and competitively priced petrol.

Lots of attractions in the local area. We enjoy walking but had some trouble locating footpaths where it appeared the farmer had filled the space with maize so we were forced to do a little walking on the A30 which gets very busy. The shower block at Cardinney has shower cubicles which are a bit small and have seen better days, but somehow it was always kept very clean. My husband had to queue for a shower one morning, but that was the only time either of us had to wait.

This is a well laid out site with spacious pitches that are very well looked after. There are loads of water and drain points, it seemed to be one between two pitches. The site is well drained. Despite being near to the A30 there was no traffic noise.

The owners are friendly and very helpful.

There is a small bar and food facility, we didn't use this but it seemed popular.

The minus side - The shower and toilet block is not up to scratch, it is in need of a refurbishment. I think it was clean but you couldn't tell as it is so dingy taking a shower was an unpleasant experience.

The area is great, Sennen Cove is not far away. We cycled there, apart from the hill down to the beach it is an easy ride. There is a bar/restaurant there called 'The Beach', they do a barbeque type meal which is excellent value and really delicious.

Lovely site with pleasant owners. Pitches are average size but it was a squeeze putting on the tent we had at the time, part of it ended up in the hedge. We had only just got it and did not realise that we needed a large pitch to accommodate it, so this was our fault. There is a small bar and shop selling essentials. A small laundry with 2 washing machines and tumble dryers and a sink for handwashing.

I would definitely consider returning to the campsite again, as it was good value for money and the service provided was very good.

This is one of our favourite sites despite having to drive for several hours to get there.

There is always a warm welcome and the owners are very helpful and friendly. If you have any special requirements just phone before you go and they will always help out if they can - one couple while we were there phoned to arrange to have their tent and luggage sent to the site prior to their arrival and this was happily arranged even though this meant the owners had to unload it all from a taxi when it arrived.

Camp sites in this area are expensive but this site is real value for money and we have always had a generous sized pitch despite paying budget prices. There are hedges around most pitches and the layout is well planned with lots of privacy.

The toilet facitlites are basic but very clean and water is always hot in the showers which have a time out switch to save water - this is not limited - if you want to stay in the shower all day just pull the cord for more lovely warm water. There is a free to use hair dryer in both shower blocks so even the boys can have a blow dry.

The shop is small but fine for essentials and there are good well stocked shops nearby including a large Tesco and Morrisons not too far away. Just outside the shop is a free to use freezer to allow refreezing of ice blocks.

There are small 'huts' for washing the pots with hot running water - here the hot water is not as reliable as in the showers but can usually be coaxed to work and for the price of a pitch here you don't get 5 star hotel facitiies. The washing up area is kept clean and tidy as is the whole site including the bins and recycling areas.

The bar is small and cosy with a heated outdoor area to sit when the weather is ok - this does have a roof for rainly evenings. Meals are served every evening and are value for money home cooked - 'tasty grub.' In peak season there is often entertainment arranged including quizes and Kareoke. There is a small side room with a pool table - a bit cramped but fun for a night on site with the kids. They also serve cooked breakfast and with the number of local eating places for lunch time you could be lazy and not cook at all.

There is a laundry room with the usual washers and dryers - the dryers are very good and dry a load of towels in record time. There is even an iron in here but this is not something I would plan to use when on holiday!

Dogs are welcome on the site - something that often puts me off as I'm not a dog owner but these seemed to be kept under control each time I have visited and there are none of the usual 'gifts' that seem to be lying around on some sites that allow dogs.

The surrounding area is fantastic - great scenery, beaches very close by, surfing, walking, climbing or just chilling out there is something for every one. Sennen beach (v.Close) is very good with an area for kids to swim and separate area for surfing controlled by team of life guards.

We have visted during very wet weather which in a tent can spell disaster but the site is well drained and pitches soon dry out - show me a site which has not had problems with water this season! The road leading up to the site is a lane to the farm and does not belong to the site and this is the only real negative as it does get very muddy but I have never seen it unpassable and the farmer clears the mud as soon as the weather allows.

I will be booking to visit again as I have not found a site to equal this one for the price - the warm welcome from the owners, the cleanliness of the site and the great location mean this will be a regular stop off for us as often as we can face the drive.

We have stayed on this site on and off for over nine years now and it just keeps getting better and better. Our children were small when we first stayed and now they have grown up they camp here too in their own tents.

We are always made to feel welcome and the whole atmosphere of the site is just lovely.

Yes, the facilities can seem a little basic, but they are being updated all the time. The toilet and shower blocks are always clean, with all new doors fitted this year. Plenty of pot washing sinks and a fine laundry room.

The shop is small but fine for essentials and the cafe/bar serves great food, and good beer in the evening (husband tells me!)

This year was very wet, and the site got very muddy, but it drains well and soon dried up.

Cardinney is a friendly, comfortable site, which we will continue to return to.

We visited this site just over a week ago and came home 5 days early, predominately because of the weather. First impressions were that the site was very nice, services good, and the owners very friendly but on the second day things were a little different.
The shower facilities badly need expanding and updating and the water was only just warm enough. Access to the site is very poor with the track from the main road full of deep potholes along its entire length, which flooded quite badly. Despite the 'dogs on lead at all times' rule there were several running loose most of the time.
On the penultimate day things got slightly cramped as the lack of space between pitches forced the guy in the tent opposite to reverse his car into my awning(no damage done). Also lots of noise from the bar area until late.

What a lovely site, despite the fact that its so close to the A30 you can hardly hear the road. Owner lovely and friendly, great ice block freezing facilities, great dog walk - a field off site, food and drink reasonably priced. Only downside was showers were very small but everything was clean and tidy.
