Our first 10 day holiday at Skyburriowe campsite and we can honestly say what a Brilliant campsite it is, with large pitches, a new toilet block, immaculately clean showers, and even a 'Honesty' box for fresh produce. Quiet site with some lovely walks, close to some quaint Cornish villages, Beaches and the Coastal Path, the owners are very helpful and cant do enough for you. This is how campsites should be, cant wait to go back.

We spent 10 days at Skyburriowe Farm this August and had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to recommend it for a relaxed and peaceful holiday. The owners were very welcoming, showing us to our pitch and explaining all the amenities.
We stayed on the Caravan Club CL field which is grassy and level (the other main field is part level/sloping). All pitches have EHU in the CL field and there are taps and a chemical disposal point close to hand. The toilet block was excellent with free hot showers and always very clean and tidy. There are loads of paths and walks which our dog loved.
The site is ideally situated to explore mid and west Cornwall sufficiently off the busy Lizard road to get no noise or disturbance. There is no shop on-site although the owners do provide baskets of their produce for you to purchase. The town of Helston is only a few miles north of the site where there are ample facilities (Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Lidl are all within 5 miles of the site).
RNAS Culdrose is only a couple of miles away – while there is noise coming from the search and rescue helicopters (and occasional Hawk fighter jets) based there at times I would not class this as a bad point – all of us enjoyed watching these flying around and our children loved driving past the base looking at what was happening.
There are some great surfing beaches nearby – Poldhu Cove is only a few miles away from the site and Praa Sands on the way to Penzance was excellent. ‘Flambards’ theme park is about 2 miles from the site. Penzance and Falmouth are only ½ hrs drive for good days out and St Ives and Newquay are not too far away fro longer day-trips.
‘The Galleon’ Fish & Chips in Mullion are fantastic – highly recommended, as was the food at the ‘Old Inn’.
For the majority of our stay there was only us and another caravan on the CL field, while this meant it was lovely and quiet, I did feel sorry for the owners as I got the impression the bad weather had really affected the bookings and lots of people had been cancelled. This was a real shame as the 10 days we had were pretty good.
We had a great time and would not hesitate to return again.

We stayed for 10 nights. Two adults and two children.
The location is ideal if you want to go to local beaches, Church cove and Kynance cove are just a short drive away and Sainsburys is close by to pick up your essentials on your way back to the site.
Our girls 6 and 10 made many friends during their stay. There isn't a playground, but that isn't needed, as they all seemed to make their own entertainment, which gave us time to relax and enjoy the quiet peaceful surroundings.
The toilet and shower block are very clean. The owners are very friendly as were the other campers/caravanners.
The only negative, if there is one, was the helicopter training from Culdrose after dark, which took place over 3 nights. It didn't disturb our children's sleep and we sat out and watched.
If you want a clubhouse and night time entertainment, it's not for you, but if you want a calm relaxing holiday surrounded by beautiful countryside it ticks all the boxes.

All I can say a fantastic, friendly, clean and convenient site! close to helston and mullion so travelling isnt too far for shops or entertainment.
The site itself is obviously on a farm and its great how tomatoes, cucumbers and beans are put in a basket for you to buy around the farm. Pickles and jams are also available.
The toilet and shower block is kept clean at all times and there's lots of dog walks if you choose to take your pet.
All in all a brilliant and relaxing time was had by all! will definitely return time and time again!

Actually visited in June 2011 for the first time and had to come back. Beautiful site, down long farm lane and has two fields. Toilet block immaculate and copes well in the busy times. The cows on the farm added real interest for my 10 year old, as did the dogs and the cats. For me the best thing was the bird life, saw green woodpeckers and many other species. Loved the Benneys who own and run the site, they are the nicest people.
Helston is a star of a town, it has lovely little shops and a gem of a museum and should be appreciated more. The area has gorgeous beaches ( Dollar and Kynance Cove) walks, museums and even Flambards, Cornwall's answer to Alton Towers. Try eating at the Halzephron Inn which is a lovely old hostelry near Dollar Cove with great food and spectacular views. Also Giuseppes italian restaurant in Helston itself. There is a wonderful restaurant in lovely Porthleven called the Seadrift Diner, best sea food I have ever tasted and excellent service and value! Went to Kota also but it was far more expensive and not as good.
There is a laundrette in Porthleven where you can walk by the harbour whilst waiting for your smalls to wash! We had to get a new tyre fitted on the caravan and the Zoar Garage in Helston was very efficient and helpful.
Will be back here again very soon, my ten year old adores the freedom and the beautiful scenery!

The first time myself and my daughter have been on a camping holiday and I could not have picked a more perfect place.
Lovely friendly site, the owners where very nice and helpful. Beautiful countryside and brilliant site.
The toilet and shower block was nice and clean. The site was also conveniently placed to visit all the many attractions and surrounding area.
After a busy and tiring day it was lovely to arrive back at the site to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
I will definitely return to this site as cant think of a more perfect place.

This was our first visit to skyburriowe, and we can’t wait to return.
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Vivian who showed us where we could pitch. Luckily as it was quiet we had a choice. The pitches are well spaced out and plenty big enough for our large trailer tent, the large field which we choose does sloop slightly but chocks soon sorted this
The toilets and showers are kept spotlessly clean by Maggie, and there is plenty of warm water for your shower.
The utility room includes a freezer which is very handy for a camper, plenty of leaflets and a very small library of books.
The campsite is set in a beautiful location and is away from the main road so on the whole nice and peaceful. Occasionally you do see the planes go over from culdrose but us this just added to our stay
The campsite is dog friendly and the owners have 2 lovely golden retrievers that like to act as wardens
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. The lizard, Goonhilly, beaches and coastal footpaths all only being a short drive away. For anyone not been before Roskillys ice cream farm is a must and again is only a short drive away.
There are plenty of supermarkets within a short drive to choose from as well. Tescos, Sainsbury’s and Lidl all fairly close by
This is a campsite we will definitely be returning to a little piece of heaven on earth

This is a great site. It is situated on a farm and is so peaceful. There are 3 camping areas available - a secluded field for Caravan Club members only, a small sloping field near the toilet block and a large field with good views. Its difficult to choose as they're all lovely.
The modern toilet block is well equipped and immaculately maintained, with free showers. There is a utility room for washing up, which also has a small library.
The site is about half a mile from the main road, and is easy to access. Its convenient for the supermarkets and other shopping in Helston, and makes an excellent base for touring southern Cornwall.
We visited The Lizard (Anns Pasties), St Ives, Falmouth and so on. A good trip was a visit to Helford which is worth exploring, then using the ferry to cross the river, followed by a walk to Trebah gardens and a late lunch at the pub.
On that side of the river, you can also walk to Glendurgan gardens, but that was too far for my elderly parents.
We hired a car (Castle Green Car Hire in Helston) so we wouldn't have to negotiate the narrow Cornish lanes in our motorhome - an excellent decision!
Another local business that we recommend is Westley Garage in Helston, which is large enough to accommodate our motorhome in order to do its MOT.
We thoroughly recommend this site if you're looking for a peaceful base for exploring.

We dropped on this site on a drive round to find somewhere better than the place we had booked and, although Skyburriowe wasn't due to open for a few days, the owner showed us round and agreed to us commencing our stay the following day.
This was just one example of the owner's friendly and helpful approach to running his site.
Of the two fields available, we chose to pitch in the larger, furthest away field. With a little help from levelling blocks, we were up and running with awning erected in a couple of hours, watched all the while by the owner's herd of Holstein dairy cattle in the field next door. One morning we watched one of the cows give birth - a beautiful thing to witness.
The site is about half a mile from the main road so there is no traffic noise - ecstasy! Just the mooing of the cattle and the squarking of the rooks and jackdaws when being circled by buzzards.
The amenity block is beautifully presented and maintained as described in the previous reviews.
We stayed here for two weeks and found it a totally relaxing and comfortable experience; one we will repeat next year!
The site is located close to Helston, Mullion and Lizard with Penzance, Lands End, Falmouth and St, Ives within easy stiking distance - an area full of dramatic scenery and places of real interest.
All in all, Skyburriowe Farm is a belting site; a little jewel and we can thoroughly recommend it to one and all.

I’d prefer to keep this site a secret and not tell anyone how lovely it was but this would be an injustice to the site owners! We arrived for a 2 week holiday here and were pleasantly greeted by Vivian the site owner who couldn’t do enough for us. We had a choice of large pitches and happily took our place in the beautiful meadow surrounded by rolling Cornish hills and countryside(The pitch was very slightly sloping and a ramp and chock were required). The site is accessible from the main road through to The Lizard and is perfectly positioned for visiting the beautiful Cornish coast. The access road is a little narrow but we had no trouble towing our 24ft caravan through, just remember when you're down the lane to take the right hand fork to the site (it is signposted but our inlaws missed it and had a bit of a job to manoeuvre their van backwards). With driving a little off the main road the site is very quiet and not subject to any road noise at all.
We quickly came to realise that for the past 5 years of caravanning in the summer hols we’ve been making a mistake by booking commercialised sites with swimming pools and bars on site when all we needed was a lovely quiet field with other campers to sit and relax and watch the children come together and play. There was plenty of space for the children to play rounders and run free and still be in sight at all times, they especially enjoyed hunting for grasshoppers and had competitions with the other children to see how many they could collect (I must add they were set free later). We all made some great friends that made our holiday one to remember!
The site had immaculately clean toilets and showers and were regularly checked and cleaned by a lovely lady staying on site who always met you with a smile and cheerful hello!
Another bonus we found was a little stall set out on the lane by one of the neighbours selling potatoes, eggs, courgettes and beautiful sunflowers all of which were really cheap and much less hassle than having to go to the supermarket for, especially when you realise you want potatoes on a Sunday afternoon and the supermarkets have closed!
We visited some beautiful beaches close by including Poldhu Cove, Kennack Sands, Swanpool and Praa Sands but sadly ran out of time to see Kynance Cove which we’ve been to before but would loved to have gone to again as we’re sure it’s the most beautiful beach we’ve ever been to! Falmouth, Penzance and Truro were all well worth a visit too!
There are plenty of supermarkets locally including a Sainsburys, Tesco and Lidl. There’s a lovely play area and boating lake worth a visit in Helston next to Lidl too!
This site was extremely reasonably priced at under £20 a night for a family of four with electric hook up and we’ll definitely be going back as soon as we can! Thanks to Vivian and Brenda for making our summer 2010 holiday the best we’ve had, we think we’ve found a hidden gem here!
