Just returned from our 1st camping trip and thoroughly recommend this site. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially as this was our 1st foray into camping.
The field was level and the grass fairly short, and a high hedge for a wind break was also useful. The toilet block was immaculate with piping hot water available and a good power output from the shower head. Washing up facilities were also of a good standard, very clean and loads of hot water again.
Booking in and out was easy and quick. Access into the site from the main road is safe due to a long lay-by.Overall we were very impressed by the standards of all the amenities, and would be happy to stay there again.

My wife and I are trying to emulate the BBC programme by driving our motorhome round the UK coastline. We are visiting many sites during this project and this pleasant, level site near Bude is certainly in our top ten so far!
The staff are very welcoming and helpful - the toilet/shower/laundry blocks are immaculate and grass-cutting is camper friendly with no cuttings evident. Included in the facility block is a games and a rest room. There are 100 pitches, electric hookups abound and non-C&CC members are welcome. There is a small shop on site - otherwise it's a drive to Bude or Camelford. There is a friendly pub about one mile down the main road.
This site is ideal for visiting Tintagel and Boscastle, and of course Bude.
The entrance to the site is set within a layby and therefore eliminates the worry of slowing down on, or crossing, the fast A39.
Highly recommended!

We stayed on this site for a week and unfortunately picked the week when it rained in Cornwall. This did not really put a stop to our activities though.
I have noted some of the previous reviews and I am glad that I did not take notice of them! Staff were very friendly and helpful. This was our first time putting up our awning and staff came over and assisted offering advice and tips which was really helpful.
All I can say is that there are some very distinct rules on C & CC sites which you know before you arrive, the staff here point the main ones out on arrival to highlight them so that everyone can enjoy the stay. This is done for everyone's benefit.
The toilets/showers are not brand new state of the art facilities, but they work, they are clean and tidy and I do not understand what more you could ask for.
The site is well located for all attractions. Worth a visit are Jamaica Inn for a superb meal (30 mins away) and Widemouth Bay (10 mins) for its superb sandy beach which has RNLI lifeguards looking after it.
I would definitely stay at this site again, I loved it and so did the kids despite wind and rain.

We've just had 10 days there, &, in our opinion it's probably the worst C&CC site we've visited in 4 years membership, well below par for what we had to pay.
The toilet/shower block was of-course spotless but really in need of bringing up to date. The showers are of the old fixed type, no adjustment made showering small kids a problem & very small cubicles too. The out door washing up facilities were in need of replacing, the taps in particular were loose in the sinks, some having no red/blue markers, ok for adults, but that could be a hazard to younger children
The site manager & staff weren't the friendliest we've come across either, sticking rigidly to the rules, especially re-dog walking on site! It's a definite NO-NO at Bude, you are directed off site to a lay-by right next to the very busy A39, so not really a dog friendly site. The kids play area is also next to the site entrance, which we found a bit disturbing to say the least.
The site shop sells a few bits n bobs, and there's a small local mini-mart just up the road, along with a decent pub

We stayed here twice in May as access to the South West Coastal Path is excellent.
As members of the C&CC, we had high expectations but were a little disappointed. The facilities themselves are fine - no complaints about the high standards of cleanliness and abundant hot water and free showers. However, compared to many other CCC sites, they look a little dated.
The site is next to the A39 which, we imagine, gets quite busy in the summer so there could be a fair amount of tyre noise in the background.
The views to the sea are reasonable and you really feel 'in the country'. The pitches at the rear of the site are probably best for tents as the hedges give good wind protection and are well away from the main road.
The CCC are not the cheapest of sites but you know what you're getting - high standards.
Our only issue was with the 'jobs-worth' attitude of the site managers at times. Flexibility was not in their vocabulary!
Plenty of places to visit with Boscastle even closer than the relative metropolis of Bude. Crackington Haven is certainly worth a visit, just a few house nestled in a valley by the sea. There's also a couple of good cafes - try the cream tea in The Cabin - superb!

We were booked in for 10 nights but only lasted 4. The facilities were basic but clean. Showers were very small which made it difficult when trying to shower a 3 year old. At peak times there was a queue for the outdoor, continental style washing up facilities and as the weather was bad for most of our stay it was not a good experience. There was a games room and a tv lounge.
However as a mum of 3 boys age 3,5 and 8 I wouldn't recommend this site. The play area although protected by a hedge made it hard to see and there was only a small barrier and a layby between the site and the VERY FAST road and the play area is next to the road. Also most of the site does not have a road so you are at the mercy of the drainage and after heavy rain it wasn't good.

We stayed for three nights, with three children 8,5 and 10 - To start with I must point out that we did have torrential rain and wind, which did not help.
The good point of the site is its location very close to beaches and Eden project. Toilets are basic but clean and dishwashing area is just large covered area not a specific room. Plenty of hot water though at any time of the day. Site shop is small but adequately stocked.
Games room has pool and table tennis and separate TV room. Play area is only one swing and slide and at top part of site next to reception and therefore near main road - ok if you are in tent as this area is close by but further away if you are in caravan. All in all a basic site and I would point out that site got very water logged and one couple we spoke to had had tent completely flooded - I would recommend checking weather before you go.

The staff here are wonderful with a realistic view of camping on all levels. They really had a friendly attitude which put you at ease.Although we stayed on this site in torrential rain even before it got so bad it was obvious the drainage was not too hot. Some of the pitches were fine but there were several low points that soon pooled. Toilet block a bit old but kept perfectly clean and tidy. Games room lovely with pool table and ping pong and tv. Play area good but the large hedge around it provides security but also blocks any view of the kids so they need accompanying. The site is on the main road which is very busy so walking or cycling anywhere especially with kids is almost impossible. There is a public footpath to the beach but it is 3 miles and not suitable for a buggy. It also involves a walk down the main road first. There is lots of places to visit but most seemed a good drive away. Two close beaches with good facilities, crackington haven 3 miles is shingle but lovely and widmouth bay 5 miles and sandy also lovely. Both life guarded. The camel trail is lovely for cycling but 20 miles away so you need to get your bikes there first or hire them! I would recommend this site if it caters for the type of holiday you have in mind. Unfortunately it was not the best site for our holiday ideals. The site itself without the main road would be 10/10

This site is situated a few miles outside Bude with mostly level pitches.
We had a great few days on the camp site - very good facilities, including an excellent disabled toilet, all kept scrupulously clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the shop was well stocked with everything you could wish for.
A well equipped games room with table tennis and pool was also available.
The site is ideal for exploring North Devon, whether it be for Theme Parks, beaches or just visiting the local villages.
You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff and we look forward to our next visit, hopefully, later this year.

We only stayed on this site for 3 nights and it was quite a nice small site set just off a lay by on the main A39. The toilet block is fairly old but was clean as with all Camping and Caravan club sites. As someone else has pointed out, there is a lot of noise from the main road which is constant. You really have to drive anywhere you want to go as there is not much around the area, although there are some nice places to visit nearby, a small pebble beach at Crackington Haven and a bigger sandy beach at Widemouth bay.
