I booked onto this site for 9 nights. As I was visiting a friend in Neath.
The road leading to the site has a very tight left turn onto a residential road and hence has cars parked either side of the road. We have a 28ft caravan and this was a bit of a squeeze.
We then encountered the steep slope up to the farm gates (which are key coded). We get on to the field, which has a slight slope, we pitch and start to set up ( the views are stunning).
When we go to park our van next to the caravan, we discover the starter motor has decided at that moment to give up. The owner's come to our rescue (there daughter is the manager of a motor factors). We didn't have any tools.
They gave us full use of there's and the use of there workshop. We were up and running in no time at all. The site is basic but the hospitality we were shown, certainly was the best we have encountered in a long time.
I will definitely be going back.

Stayed at this campsite for a fortnight, due to building works carried out in my house.
Very friendly and welcoming owners. I was the only camper in the site, so I managed to get a hardstanding. Definitely a must in wet Welsh February.
Access to the site is ok, despite passing through a narrow road with many cars parked at the sides. Neath is just down the road as well as a big Tesco.
The field dedicated to tents and caravans is big and well kept.
The only thing that lets the site down is the toilet (only 1!) inside a squalid industrial container and the shower room(not the cleanest I've ever seen)inside a big barn. To be fair the water was always been warm.
For £5 pppn (+£4 for EHU) you can't fault the place, but maybe just as a hint for the owners: a little shed in the field with a couple of toilets and showers would make a huge difference a more happy campers!

Just returned from an average week's stay at this site:-
Pros.
1. Friendly owner and as others have mentioned, a lovely dog called Meg who was always around and provided great entertainment for the kids.
2. Quiet site, with good drainage (which was definitely required as the weather was awful).
3. Close to 24 hour supermarket and a local off licence which provided us with frosty cold beers and wine each day.
4. Close to Neath and a great curry house in the town centre.
5. Lots of room for the kids (as we were pretty much alone for the week).
6. Cheapish rates.
7. Lovely woodland walk nearby with beautiful scenery.
8. Clean toilets and shower, which was free.
Cons:
1. Facilities were basic with no laundry, washing up and freezing facilities and with three families, insufficient for our needs. We had to boil our own water to wash the pots which took a lot of time and wasted lots of gas which became a bit of a nuisance for 14 campers eating 2 to 3 times per day.
2. Whilst being close to Neath was a bonus for local shops, its not a place you would want to visit which meant that we had to travel far each day for visits.
3. No nice local beaches, the closest being near Port Talbot which was polluted.
4. Some noise from the few other visitors (they were teenagers and having fun, which is OK) but there was a family who were constantly swearing and getting home really late, really drunk.
5. Some other reviewers say the views were great and I agree as far as 1/4 of the panorama is concerned. The other 3/4 was filled with road (which is noisy), an oil refinery and Neath and Port Talbot, neither of which is picturesque and which created lots of light pollution.
6. One gents and one ladies toilet and one shower. This was OK as our party of 14 were pretty much the sole guests for the whole week. The owner said she had hosted up to 170 campers on the site which would have made things very difficult indeed.
I don't think I would stay here again with a family. The site was too far from the Brecon Beacons for walking on one side and too far from the Gower on the other. JPDH said that this was a new venture in August 2005 and whilst other comments suggest that the facilities have been upgraded, the are still woefully inadequate, albeit they were always clean.
The owners cant do much about the location but if they want this to be a serious family campsite then they need to significantly upgrade the facilities. On the other hand, if all they want to do is attract spontaneous campers who cant get in anywhere else (such as us) or the mountain bikers who don't care much about the site as they will be out riding all day then I guess things will stay as they are.
Overall, sadly, a 3 out of 10 score.

A lovely campsite but access is via a housing estate with parked cars and up a very steep hill. The owner & her dog were very friendly. There is only 1 toilet per sex & just 1 shower for all to share. Tesco's is just down the hill & Neath town close by with direct trains to Cardiff.

First off, just to say a great friendly couple who run this camp site. I am sure they would help you out if you were any way in a fix. A new venture for Steve the owner and his wife, who are still a bit green at the camping thing but learning fast as they go along. And not forgetting, Meg, the friendly farm dog who welcomed everyone with wagging tail. Site has a very slight slope but does not cause any problems, the toilet block, basins and shower are basic but clean and do the job. There are some great views from the site, fields with horses and a nice woodland patch higher up the site. All in all a nice friendly family site See you again soon Rob and Vikki by the way, we like the classic Triumph car and would have 'specially loved to taken Meg home with us!

This was a lovely site with very friendly owners, which is why it was such a shame that a group of rowdy teenagers pretty much ruined the stay for us. At half eleven I had to go over to ask them to turn off their booming music but even after that they continued to make a lot of a noise. It was the early hours of the morning before they shut up. Where were the owners? The site itself is basic and, as the last reviewer put it, eccentric. The slope was not too bad, nor was the passing the train, but the toilets (1 per sex - and the men don't get a washbasin) were in a porta-cabin with no lights and no hot water. The shower is in a barn across the yard (which is where you will also find your tourist information leaflets!) What we really liked about this site is its proximity to a lovely woodland type walk which you will find the entrance to just opposite the road that leads up to the farm. Plus there are horses surrounding the field and the view over the surrounding countryside is lovely. The farm dogs were friendly too. Steve, the owner, was really nice and friendly but I just wish he would either be a little more selective about his guests or keep an eye on the behaviour of his guests. After all, this is a caravan and camping club certified site.

Campsite is on a working farm, the field has a bit of a slope on it, and has good views of the surrounding valleys. It is very close to Neath and as a result there is a lot of light pollution. The railway line is nearby but didn't cause a disturbance.
Facilities are eccentric consisting of a toilet in a modified ISO container, a shower room and toilet in a workshop (complete with tools!) and a nicer shower in a barn. These also are no hand basins anywhere on site. It took everybody two nights to discover that there was actually a temporary light in the toilets.
On the plus side the owners sell fresh vegtables, are very dog friendly and are extremly mountian bike friendly. Offering us all use of the farm pressure washer to clean up after a particularly muddy weekend of riding.
I would go again to go biking (it is conviently located for Rheola and Afan) but wouldn't take my girlfriend there again!

Beautiful campsite on hill top quiet -no club/shop etc. Fantastic views, loads of wild life and room for kids to run round in safety without disturbing others.Basic campsite. Only 1 toilet & shower(free) but as it was very quiet-1st night only us- it was fine. Might be a problem if busy. On working farm. Farmers friendly and keen to help. A new venture so facilities may grow with use. We hope to go back
