What a wonderful clean tidy camp site, the wardens are all great, there is nothing to much trouble for them,

its a shame there is no electric on site, but if there was then, it would be too full with visitors,

the site itself is flat and well spaced out and the nearby town of totnes is a pleasure, with plenty of shops,

back on site the toilets and showers are spotlessly clean,

Another lovely stay at Steamer Quay. The location of this site takes some beating. Quiet, leafy but virtually in the centre of Totnes and right next to the river cruise departure point and riverside walks. The site is well kept and the loo block clean and functional, if a bit old. The site was full when we were there but the shower block didn't seem to struggle. No electric hookup does restrict the appeal for some, I guess, but we find it quite liberating! Also it means we can get a pitch in July!

This time we took the Round Robin bus/train/boat trip, a great day out to lovely Dartmouth. Lots to do in the area, Paignton Zoo, Brixham, South Hams coast which is stunning.

Well recommended.

Stopped off here for a week on the return journey from Cornwall, although listed as a caravan site we have a folding camper and were made welcome even as non-members.

This is a small site of some 40 pitches, no EHU available, some of the reviews mention noise and this was very noticeable to us as we have a canvas roof! The pitches along the far end have houses on the ther side of the fence and we chose not to pitch there as there was a lot of children noise when we arrived.

We parked along the fence adjacent to the road and suffered here due to the fact that there are speed-bumps in the road and every lorry or bus that passes makes a hell of a noise and shakes the camper! This is in no way a peaceful site area, BUT don't forget we have a canvas roof, in an insulated caravan it might not be so bad.

The site is extremely well maintained and site staff very helpful and friendly, facilities although spotless were slightly dated now, but totally adequate and plentiful.

This is an excellent area for visiting Dartmouth, brixham, babbacombe, paignton and many other towns. The round-robin ticket from the office near the site gives you a trip by bus to Paignton then steam train to kingswear then ferry to dartmouth where you can spend the day before getting the 90 minute cruise back to Totnes, a great day out.

No child play areas which didn't bother us, but mainly caused by the sites small size.

 Excellent site. Position of site, great, close to town etc. Very friendly wardens. Very clean, quiet, small but good. Only bad thing, no electric. In all, my wife and myself will be going back and back to this site until they close {being a council site, and we all know what councils are like}

The toilets on site are clean and old but good,

Close by there a good selection of places to eat and drink,

Just stayed for 3 nights at Steamer Quay, Totnes. Easy to walk into the town. Also walked up the Main Line train station (about 15mins) and caught train to Exeter for the day.

There is plenty to do in and around Totnes including boat trips to Dartmouth from the quay just outside the site. There are only grass pitches and no electric hookup.

The ground is however hard and had no trouble leaving even after a night of heavy rain.

The toilets are tired and in need of updating. However the wardens do a splendid job of making the best of them and keeping them clean.

Also the wardens were extremely helpful and friendly.

Would we stay again, ? of course we would.

In spite of being in the centre of a bustling town (shops just a bridge away)I found it very quiet & only peopled by retired campers.

With it's easy access to both river & bus networks a very good site. The toilets & showers were very clean & although only two ladies showers this was more than adequate for the size of the site.

It was refreshing to be able to choose my own pitch with the option of moving if another one became vacant during my stay.

The round robin trip via boat?steam train & open top bus is very good value.

The only downside for me as a lone camper (not a CC member) was the price.

This is a really convenient camp site. If you stay here you won't have to use the car as it is easy to walk to the plethora of individual food shops in Totnes. It is delightful to be able to hear the South Devon steam railway whistle calling you to travel with them. My little caravan is a vintage one with no shower and only a portaloo but I found the shower and toilet facilities perfectly adequate. The site does not have electric hook-up but as it is only open from Spring to Autumn that is not a problem. The whole area is wonderful with so much to do that another visit will reap even more rewards. I recommend the Round Robin trip involving a bus, train and river boat journey. Very friendly wardens and visitors.

The Steamer Quay site is owned by the local council and run by the Caravan Club. This was our second visit to this site and the wardens as always first class. The site is small and the grounds well maintained, the toilet block is small and in dire need of refurbishment but is maintained and cleaned to a high standard by the wardens. There is also a small washing up area.

The location is superb and an exellent base for exploring nearby Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and also Plymouth. The site is situated alongside the River Dart and is a two minute walk from the centre of the historic town of Totnes. There is also a Morrisons supermarket no more than 5 minutes walk away. The town has lots of quaint shops and more than it's fair share of great pubs. It is always busy rain or shine and has a lovely atmosphere about it.

The site does not have electric hook-up but this would appear to be a bonus as I doubt it would be easy to book into should this not be the case.

On the downside, if you visit this site try to avoid pitch numbers 8/9/10/11/12 as these pitches back onto local housing. Although the houses are in the main obscured by trees the occupants have no regards for their neighbours and loud music, singing and constant dogs yapping can be heard throughout the day from early morning to late at night. The warden informed me that two particular houses were causing the noise and it was an ongoing problem. It eventually caused us to leave 2 days earlier than planned.

Overall a fabulous site and highly recommended.

This site is next to Steamer Quay in the centre of the town but was vey quiet and the roads to it were easily accessible. It is quite a small site with a nice atmosphere and the wardens friendly and helpful (we couldn't choose a pitch because of recent very heavy rain).

The toilets/showers were very clean and well maintained.

Easy walk into Totnes main streets with all shops, large and small, nearby. Excellent pubs very close by. Very convenient for touring the area. We took the boat trip down to Dartmouth from right outside the camp-site gates.

We spent one night at this site whilst touring Devon. The situation is fantastic, a couple of minutes walk over the river bridge into Totnes which is a lovely town, lots to do.
The site is next to the jetty where you can take a boat trip to Dartmouth, well worth doing. I really liked this site. It was small, quiet and well kept and the wardens were friendly.
The loo block was very clean although in need of a refurb. I understand the site is actually owned by the local council although the CC run it. Despite the CC's best efforts to persuade them, the council are unwilling to spend any money doing up the loos.
Don't let this put you off though. This site is well worth a visit and we shall certainly grab a few nights there when we can. I would also recommend the Royal Seven Stars Hotel as a good place to eat and only a couple of minutes walk from the site.
