We stayed overnight to visit war museum. Easy to find via directions outside town. No problems finding a pitch by the canal. Facilities were spotlessly clean. Warden very helpful and friendly, allowing us to arrive before noon to enable our visit. English spoken. Bread available, order the night before.
Within walking distance of the town. Supermarket and fuel a short drive.
Recommended.
ACSI site 16 euro.

We liked this site when we stayed here last summer. The roadworks were finished and there were no problems. The children's play area was good, the pool was nicely done, it's small and designed for splashing around rather then swimming. The toilets were a bit dated but clean. We went up to the bar for a drink, but there was a group of men watching TV and we got the feeling that our conversation was spoiling their viewing, so we left.
Peronne is a fine town, the WW1 museum is excellent, our children found it fascinating. It's set in a lovely old castle.
This site is used as a stopover, but it would be a pity to just stay one night and not explore the WW1 sites and museum. The history is obviously horrifically sad but we felt it was important to remember all the poor men/ teenagers who lost their lives here and not just pass by.
The barges travelling by on the canal provide a restful distraction.
The owner was friendly and easy going to deal with.

We went for a walk around the site and there are better pitches further into the camp site very private with hedges in between.
The showers are unisex with 4 cubicles in one room 2 for ladies and 2 for men, strangely the shower for women were dirty and I without knowing had used the clean one which was the mens shower.
The elsan is inside the toilet block opposite the washing machines, strange.
We had a cycle ride to Perrone which had some nice shops and cafe's with a very reasonable clothes shop there.
All the facilities were closed as the season was a bit early but the walks around the canal was nice.

Hopefully this review is posted in time to warn people who are due to travel that there are mega road works & road closures near this site.
We approached from the south & followed the road that would have passed by the campsite but a detour ended up sending us through town.
However, the road was closed before we got near the site so we had to walk for 10 mins to get there only to be told that we had to go a convulted route through the countryside to find another way to the site.
By this time we were tired, fed up & also, unfortunately, disillusioned by Peronne which had some rough looking people hanging around and so gave up & went elsewhere (we phoned to apologise).
There were people pitched on the site so some people were obviously more resilient than us.
The lady at the reception, by the way, was very friendly & helpful and I do feel a bit guilty that we gave up so soon.

We only stayed at this site for one night and truthfully would be happy to stay longer. Absolutely no problem with cleanliness of toilets and showers. The pitches are nicely separated by shrubbery and all very close to toilets for midnight visits! There was a lot laid on for children - nice swimming pool and a fairly decent pool area. The reception and bar was always very busy - so much so the decision to have a drink at the bar was aborted after 10 mins. Nice and close to the town - we biked in and had a good look round. The young lady at reception was very polite and spoke excellent English. We arrived at 2 pm and the site was already filling up so would recommend booking if you are likely to be any later.

Firstly reception only open 8-10am and 4-9pm so if you arrive out of these times there isn't anyone there to tell you where to pitch.
The toilets are old and tired and only cleaned once a day - not by power cleaner as must have been the case previously - see previous review - but by mop powered by cleaning lady! Toilets filthy between 3pm and 10.00am next morning due to high rate of overnighters, but we managed to learn to use facilities after 10am when had been cleaned. Reception unfriendly.
Whilst we were there spoke to 4 different families who all said they were also unhappy with site - one with children said leaving due to unsafe children's area.
Plus side - perfect location for visiting WW1 sites, and location good as as overnight stop, but no longer!

A very good site with friendly straightforward welcome. Lovely easy peaceful drive there from the fast Dover-Boulogne ferry. Disagree with the comments about the walk into town, we enjoyed it although there were some roadworks in progress. Good sized pitch with some shade. Watching the barges on the canal was interesting as we had breakfast. Had already visited the museum in Peronne and recommend it highly. Good base for following the route des souvenirs and finding out more about World War 1.

We picked this site as a base for seeing WW1 battlefield sites. It was a very easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Dieppe (Calais is about equal distance) and the site was easy to find. We stayed for 5 nights at the end of July and were about the only people staying longer than 1 night – it seems to be a very popular night stop for the Dutch on their way South. By 9pm, most pitches were full and by 9am the site was virtually empty but if we had a lie-in, we were not disturbed by the mass exodus as everyone seemed to able to pack up and leave in silence. I’m sure all the one nighters would have been happy to stay longer as the site was attractive with plenty of willow trees and some hedges, and boarded on 3 sides by canals (midges were not a problem). The facilities were clean and the pool was attractively designed but mainly suited for children. Bread could be ordered and a chip / burger type van did a roaring trade each evening. The pitches were perhaps a bit on the small side and I would have preferred to have pitched around the edge rather than in the middle. The staff spoke some English and were always friendly but very, very busy late afternoon / evening booking everyone in. One evening I counted a queue of 10 cars/ caravans waiting to enter the site.
We asked the site to recommend a restaurant and had a delightful meal just by the entrance to the excellent WW1 museum. The site ordered us a taxi and the friendly driver refused to accept payment after dropping us at the restaurant and told us to pay one bill when he had delivered us home at the end of the evening! It was refreshing to meet such trusting people.
The geography of the surrounding area is gentle rolling downs with vast wheat fields criss-crossed with a net work of narrow empty, hedge less lanes. In contrast to this, the river Somme meanders wide with many riverlets and islands passed some pretty villages and hamlets. About 5 miles west of Peronne, on the northern bank of the river, there is a pretty village of Clery-sur-Somme and just a mile further on, a magnificent view of the river can be obtained from a high vantage point.
I would be happy to stay on this site again.

Used this site as an overnight stop for about 15 years! Clean and convenient can be busy at peak times with booking essential. Have stayed longer on occasions to explore the battlefields and the excellent museum.
I quite like the walk to a nearby restaurant although the traffic can be heavy at times. The Algerian restaurant Auberge due Lac is superb Momo, its owner has now become a friend and part of the holiday. The couscous menu is excellent and the 'fools salad' makes a very large starter for 2!
The bar at the campsite serves lovely cold Leffe always signals the start of my holiday!

Stayed for a week in the summer, with my son.
Thought the pitch was a bit on the small side for France, but some of the pitches were larger than ours.
Pool was very good, and my 12yo found plenty to occupy himself. Showers were good with plenty of hot water.
Bread available on site, along with a 'fish & chip' type van.
Short walk into the town, but I would echo others comments about it not being the nicest walk, that said the town centre was OK. Museum of WW1 worth a visit, as are the lakes surrounding the town.
Overall would reccommend.
