Stayed in this campsite in May 2007 as a base to visit the Somme. The pitches were of varying size and surronded by large trees. The toilets and showers were clean and some heated. Although the shower cubicals were not large.
You could walk into the town which had bars, resturants and shops, although we did not find this a partically nice walk as some of the town seems a bit run down.
The site did have a bar and pool and play area. The bar and pool were not open when we stayed.
Good base to visit the area and quiet at night although being by the river there were a few midges around in the evening.

WHAT A FANTASTIC SITE! For our 1st trip to France, I found the site very hard to fault. The staff were all very friendly and some went well out of their way to help us. We went into Amien and St Quentin, both are well worth a visit. The campsite it's self was lovely and had all the facilities you would need. We did take a lot of food with us but there was no real need to as there is a Lidl within easy walking distance and a large supermarket about 3 miles from the site. If I was to moan about something it's the smell that only seemed to come from the gents urinal. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We stayed at this site for 6 nights and used it as a base for the Somme battlefields. The site was lovely, very busy some days due to stopovers. It was very quiet when we were there and in school holidays, but the pitches all seemed a fair size, very nice walks for the dog by the canal and harbour. The facilities were excellent and always spotless and the whole site had a feeling of peace and tranquility. Peronne as a town was very pleasant with quite a few bars and restaurants, and a couple of vet offices. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the centre from the campsite and is a nice enough stroll past rivers and lakes. If you do go look out for the church in the town centre that still bears bullet scars from the first world war as the town was at the centre of some very heavy fighting. My only gripe about the site was that the road they are in the process of laying a new bridge over the canal, so traffic jams can occur. However, what with most campers being early risers I wouldn't let this put you off - we'd definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

We stayed at this site for 3 nights and used it as a base for 'doing' the Somme battlefields. The site was lovely, with pitches being in amongst willow trees and shrubs. It was very quiet when we were there due to it being outside school holidays, but the pitches all seemed a fair size, particularly in the far corner by the river. The facilities were excellent and always spotless and the whole site had a feeling of peace and tranquility (I can't vouch for this over summer months!) Peronne as a town was very pleasant with quite a few bars and restaurants, two very popular boulangeries, two good butchers and a fantastic poissonerie for purchasing your moules to cook up back at the tent. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the centre from the campsite and is a nice enough stroll past rivers and lakes. If you do go look out for the church in the town centre that still bears bullet scars from the first world war as the town was at the centre of some very heavy fighting. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and very quiet. It is all very flat - ideal for cycling. My only gripe about the site was that the road next to it made it quite noisy first thing in the morning. However, what with most campers being early risers I wouldn't let this put you off - we'd definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

We called in to this site on the way up from the Cote D'Zur (Nice). It is a very pretty camp site just on the outskirts of Peronne itself. The pool is nice and clean and the sanitation facilities are OK. The Camp site does not have a shop but has a bar/play room with a TV. Pool Table and Footy table in. The pitches at the time we visited were very much the worse for wear after after heavy rain and on one occasion I had to help another Brit camper get his motor home out the mud ruts. In Peronne there is a Cafe that has a Catering van right outside the door which does the catering for the cafe. I recommend this cafe.100% excellent service, 100% excellent food 100% nice place to eat. At first I thought Ohh they cook the stuff outside and bring it in but I can say the food was tremendous even though it was brought in about 10 feet from the door in the rain. My young son got a lolly of the catering van for continually opening the door for them to bring the food in. It is an excellent place to eat.
ONE DOWN SIDE OF THE SITE. When you book in make sure that if you order bread for the following day you get your ticket. I did not realise we had a ticket (nothing was mentioned when the girl behind the reception handed us all the bumph you get) I duly turned up at the reception in the morning and asked for my 3 Baguettes and 3 couasants and was duly informed to get my ticket. It took 3 journey's to the Reception in the Pouring rain to get the bread. Even though she booked us in the night before (probably about 8 units on the site) she basically called me a liar and said I had not ordered bread. Eventually the ticket turned up in the glove compartment and after throwing my hat and shoes around the van in a fit of temper and an outburst of "I hate France".my dear wife duly went and collected he bread. I just could not help thinking afterwards of all the young English bodies stuffed in to the ground around Peronne That an English man had to go and beg for a loaf of bread. It spoilt my stay in France completely.

This is certainly a pleasant campsite. It is ideally located just on the outskirts of the small town of Peronne, which has some shops, bars and the War Museum (which cost 7Euro50). This is ideal for those who want to explore the Somme battlefields. The campsite itself is near the Canal and is ideal for walking or cycling along (about 8 miles if you go around and come back into town at the other end). A bit of wildlife around - rabbits, ducks etc. The staff at the campsite are helpful and can speak English. You can order baguettes etc for the next morning and there is a little bar attached to reception with a pool table and TV. The playground is good for kids but can be very noisy if you're parked next to it. The pool is average size but a peculiar shape so it's just suitable for a dip / messing about rather than any swimming. The sanitary facilities are large enough and cleaned well every day, the floor with a power washer! It is particularly popular with the Dutch and a lot of people used it just as a NH.

May 2005 We used this very pretty site as a stopover on our way south in May and again in June on our way back. It's well situated for a reasonable drive into Boulogne & some lunch before you get the ferry:-)
The site is just outside Peronne on the river Somme between a small commercial river port and a pleasure port, but is safely fenced in from both. You can get out onto the bank and fishing is free for residents.
The pitches are grassy and mostly flat and we were invited to take our pick. In the school holidays you would definitely need to book.
There was a robust play area with a slide, swings, roundabout - all suitable for the whole age range. There was also table-tennis, boules and a volleyball court.
In May, out of season and in case it got a bit nippy, the ladies was closed and the large, well equipped, **heated** disabled section was open instead. I imagine this is well appreciated earlier in the season too!
The pool opens at the beginning of June and looked very clean and nice and is open quite late in the evening, compared to some. There's a bar, reception, snack. The young lady who runs it is very nice and remembered us on our return journey, which is always nice.
There's a very nice bustling brasserie, Le Central, on the main square in Peronne, where food is served every lunchtime and evening. Children are welcome. Always useful to know after a long drive:-)
There is another campsite in Peronne, which didn't look half as nice & is surrounded by HLM (council flats) and young people hanging round. This isn't the one I'm reviewing.
