My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights. It was very easy to find and was a good location, close to the ferry port. The ferry tickets were dealt with through the owner which was helpful.

Upon arrival we were very impressed with the site and recieved a warm and laid back welcome.

The toilets and showers were very modern and seemed to be spotless every time. It was quite quiet which properly helped. The showers were coin operated.

There is peacocks on site. They are loud but had to get used to. However I stress they were loud.

It has a lovely kitchen area with washing up facilities.

Fire baskets are provided with wood for £4. Taps were closely located around the field.

Would stay again and recommend it!

We Stayed here for 10 days with friends for a meet up and to visit Tina who lives on the Island.

The site is very clean with short cut grass, and you can pitch where you like.

The toilets and showers were immaculate, and plenty of room in them.

The site is very close to Tesco, so no probs with shopping, and a very good local produce farm shop, the meat and veg is second to none, called (I think, Brindlesford Lodge farm)recommended by Tina and site owner.

Firepits allowed off the ground, and braziers dotted around the site for you to use.

Plenty of water points and 16 Amp EHUs, rubbish bins all round site, but where emptied every day, sometimes more by site owner who kept an eye on them, also recycling point near entrance, elsan & waste water point is a little high, but very clean, with a flush water point to rinse out barrels and cassettes.

Site is slightly sloping in some areas, but levelling ramps solved this, also entrance a little tight with M/Home towing a car, but did get in with no problems.

A little shop selling basics would be nice if owners could provide one in the future.

As our ferry was not till early morning, we asked site owner for extension, we were told we could stay on till we were ready to leave with EHU (left site at 9. 30pm)at no extra charge.

All in all this site is well worth a visit, and we would recommend it to anyone, at only £9. 50 a night Inc EHU, ( 2 adults, M/Home, awning & car)it is just all round excellent value, and would not hesitate in returning here again.

My 4 yr old son and I attended a UKCS meet here from 27th-31st. The site was spacious with a slightly sloping field, which aside from a bit of fiddling with the kitchen unit posed no real problems. There are no set pitches, but the owners like you to camp around the edges of the field, leaving the middle areas for recreational space. Although we don't use EHU's there seemed to be a a lot of them dotted around.

The main toilet/shower block was clean and spacious with 'wetroom' type facilities which encompassed a shower, sink, toilet, bench and hooks.Very handy for those trying to contain young kids whilst performing ablutions!

It was 20p for a 3minute shower and not being the sort who enjoys long showers 60p did me and the lil'un just fine. There are only 2 showers though which did cause a queue at 'peaktimes'.

There are a further 2 toilets located at the other side of the camping field, which were definitely on the rustic side, but were perfectly adequate for a quick dash! A laundry room is provided, but I didn't venture in there and the washing up room (which also provides a kettle, microwave and tourist information) would have benefited from an extra sink as again queues formed at certain times.

If you are going to the IOW for a view whilst camping, then this is not the site for you as basically there isn't one, the whole site being surrounded by trees, but this is more than compensated for by the price (£16 for 4 nights!) and the fact that they allow firepits and even provide firebaskets if required - for me a camping 'must have'! It is well located with a huge 24hr Tesco about a mile away and all of the IOW attractions within easy driving distance.

All in all the site definitely delivers value for money and should I return to the IOW then I would use it again.

We spent 8 nights here over Whitsun as a part of a ukcs get together and had a great time.

The site is easy to find of you follow the directions on their website. Its only a 10 minute drive from Fishbourne. Owners very friendly and visible on site everyday. We loved the feeling of space throughout the site and despite us being there over a bank holiday weekend we had stacks of space between the units. The EHU points are in various places across the camping field but there's also plenty of non ehu pitches. You do need to pick your pitch carefully as the site slopes down from the top of the site where the main toilet and shower block can be found. There are two ladies showers and three loos I think. I did have to queue a couple of mornings. The showers accept 20p pieces and pound coins. I found 3 x20p giving me six minutes was plenty enough. Facilities were always very clean throughout our stay. Theres large wooden hut to one side of the camping field which houses a fridge, kettle and microwave for campers use. This room also housed the one and only washing up sink so queues formed most nights to wash up. They also had a small selection of books along with local tourist info leaflets and a table with a couple of chairs. Up by the loos and showers there's also a laundry room which we didn't use so cannot tell you the prices.

Theres a 2nd more rustic (wooden huts) loo with wash hand basins to one side of the main field.

Our kids loved this site and the fishing they still talk about now. Kids caught carp, tench and perch with one day them catching 12 carp! Its a 5 minute walk to the fishing lake at the bottom of thr site and this is where the tipis the rent out are located. Fishing lake free to campers which is brilliant.

We spent most evenings sat round relaxing with friends warming ourselves on the campfire. Various baskets are positioned round the site to help yourself to. I think the wood was £5 from the owners who live in the big house on site.

We even had a tesco shopping delivery the morning after we arrived which was brilliant. The local Tesco at Ryde (about 2 miles away is a huge store selling most things you could ever need, except a fan heater as we were freezing at night) we did however find a van in a hardware shop in Ryde.

The peacocks on site (housed in the own area)could be noisy sometimes but they never disturbed us at night! Bedtime was lovely, very peaceful with lots of stars in the skies to admire.

To sum up, excellent value for money, great location for all IOW has to offer, lovely relaxed atmosphere and best of all the site is never overcrowded as the owners don't even fill it to capacity out of choice. We'll definitely go back there when we next visit the IOW.

 What a great site,

Ok lets start with some baddish points,

Quite a tight entrance but managed to get a lwb shogun and 26ft van in around the corner,

Bit of a trek to reception, if you struggle to walk take phone number and ring when on site, planning permission is in for a new building to house reception.

Site is sloping so choice of pitch is important if in a tent.

Peacock makes noise on and off through the night, so light sleepers might want ear plugs.

Toilet and showers could get over crowed if really busy, but we are here over bank holiday and the site is not over full, loads of room and I have had no problems with toilet or having a shower.Which have also been very clean, showers are 20p for 3mins and £1 for 15mins.

Site owners seem like nice people have been about a lot.

Small laundry room, a washing up sink with microwave and kettle in for people without, fire pits are available.

Small fishing lake open only to guests,

Nice and dark at night so a torch is good for the late night toilet trips.

No noise at all from breakers yard next door, would not even know it was there if it was not for google earth and sign outside.

There's not many extras on site, but most things are only a short drive away.

Bus stops about 100yrds from site entrance.

Tesco is about 5 min drive away, and there is a 2nd LPG site just over the road from tesco in the garden centre, so no trip to newport to refuel.

Might be nice when they get permission for there new reception to have a small gift shop on site.

Overall a great site for a base on the isle of wight, with cheap site fee's you could wish for a nicer place at the price.

will come back to this site if I come back to the isle of wight.

We spent 2 idyllic weeks here in July.

On arrival we found our way to reception and were advised to pitch wherever we wanted to, there was huge choice of EHU's dotted around the edge and in the centre of a large field.

As it was the week before the school summer holidays had started, the site was extremely quiet.

The main shower blocks were very modern, with coin operated showers, in the mens it was £1 for 15 minutes and the ladies were 20p for 3 mins (I found 40p for 6 minutes perfect)

The laundry room had one washing machine, two tumble dryers (both £1.00) and a hand washing sink. On the field was a washing hut which had one sink, a microwave, kettle and fridge.

The sink was fine in the first week but we felt that there was plenty of room to fit a second sink and this certainly would have be beneficial in the second week when it got a lot busier.

The kettle and microwave were great little touches which I have not experienced before and though at first did not think we would make use of them, proved to be very useful. The kettle was fab for popping on, on my way to the shower in the morning (at 6.30am) and it was ready to pour my morning coffee on the way back to the tent, without the hassle of uncovering the gas stove at that early hour.

The owners do not take more than 80 people on site at one time so there is always a feeling of space, and plenty of room for the children to run around even when the site is full.

The area was beautiful and tranquil and yet a short walk/drive took you to the beach/town/forests/shops.

We only had one small gripe and that was, that we felt that the toilet facilities could have been cleaned a little more often, and the toilet rolls, and paper towels be restocked more often as they often ran out.

We would definitely return to this site again.

P.S if you awake to a terrible squawking at 4.00am (most mornings) it is not somebody being attacked. It is the resident peacock, who has just been woken the Cockerel! You do get used to it after a few days!

We loved everything about this site and definitely would return.

We have just returned from 2 weeks camping at this site, with another family. We were greeted by the lady owner and told to pitch wherever we wanted to. We chose to pitch in the top corner. We had electric hook-up and water tap.

The site is sloped but this was not a problem to us. The ladies shower block had 2 showers and 3 toilets. It was always spotless. The ladies showers took £1 for 15 mins or 20p for 3 mins. The mens only took £1. The fishing lake was very well stocked, and the kids enjoyed feeding the geese.

It was a lovely site, very quiet and relaxed. No shop, or play area but we knew this and this was fine, but we just had to be more prepared. We did find a corner shop down the road. And Tesco is only 1 1/2 mile away. We were given a fire basket and could buy logs from reception. We also managed to have one of the wooden picnic benches.

There is a washing machine and tumble drier. A washing up shed, with microwave and fridge/freezer.

We had a great holiday, went out every day. Local beaches were lovely. Ferry over was paid for in Tesco vouchers, and some of the days out were too. Like, Amazon World, Dinosaur Isle, Steam Train and The Needles.

Loved it!

We have now stayed at this fantastic campsite twice and if we didn't want to explore different areas around Britain we would most certainly be returning!

The camping fields are spacious with a selection of pitches with electric hook up.

There is a choice of 2 toilets in the field in wooden cabins or a toilet and shower block at the top of the field. Both are kept impeccably clean!

There is a fishing lake at the bottom of the fields which is well stocked with carp. Fishing permits were £5 a day or £20 for the week. We fished every day and never failed to catch!

The owners are friendly and helpful and even offered to drive us to the a and e department after a bad accident. You can buy wood and kindling for a small price from them as well.

As for things to do, if you have a car you will be in your element. Even to get across to the other side of the island was only an hour at most and there are so many things to do!

All in all an extremely enjoyable 2 years have been spent camping here and I am sure we will one day return again!

As a regular visitor to the IOW we found this site on the internet and looked forward to a 9 day stay with family who were camping with us in their tent.

On arrival we were advised by the lady owner we could pitch anywhere but just after we had unhitched the van her partner came out and told us we couldn't pitch there as regular visitors were arriving on Friday for the weekend, this was only Saturday morning! Rather annoying that weekenders got a choice of pitches over someone staying 9 days! Not to spoil the holiday we decided to move to another location.

The site is very spacious but due to the close proximity of the hookups each unit was pretty close, which seemed a shame.

The toilet block is pretty new but poorly designed, no ventilation in the showers or toilets. Cleaning of these facilities apart from mopping out the showers was non existent, the build up of grime around the outside of the toilet bowls and dust and grime on the cisterns was a complete turnoff. My husband was told that the showers in the mens was £1 as he was waiting for these to be changed, seems with the reviews on here it's been like that a long time. Ladies was 20p for 3 minutes which wasn't long enough as for the first 20 seconds it ran cold so 40p was needed.

We were also informed on the day of arrival that the following weekend would see the IOW Scooter Rally, which we didn't have a problem with but the number of tents admitted I am sure took the ratio of people to toilet facilities over the limit. The owners of the site were obviously good friends with the 'scooterists' and allowed them to pitch their tents haphazardly by the entrance to the field and at one stage the number of vehicles narrowed the exit down to just a car width. However, after a chat to the owner they did ask for the vehicles to be moved.

Alongside the site is a breakers / reclamation yard and they are not averse to starting work early. We were awakened one morning at 7.30 with thumping noises! The cockerel and peacock are pretty loud but are natural noises which are to be expected.

The washing up facilities were adequate whilst the site was quiet but not enough sinks for busier periods. I didn't use the laundry facilities so cannot comment.

There are a number of shabby mobile homes sited and several holiday bungalows which appear to be 'lived in' and not holiday lets.

There is a pub serving meals just a short walk / drive down the main road.

Even if the sun had have shone it would not have made up for the disappointment of this site, which could be nice if it was laid out and looked after properly. Needless to say we won't be looking to stay here again.

We had second thoughts about going to the IOW by motorhome when we first saw how expensive the ferries were and how overpriced most of the campsites / touring parks seem, so we were really glad when we stumbled upon this site. It is slightly inland and doesn't have the sea views many of the other overpriced sites have but I can live without sea views for the extra premium.

This is a great site (particularly for anyone in a tent), with every facility including shared microwave, fridge and kettle for campers with free electricity ! If you have the electric hook-up it is a very reasonable £1.50 per day. The site fees were reasonable at £9 (for the two of us) per night. We stayed 7 nights and got the 7th free which reduced the cost further.

The site is gently sloping (I recon around 3 acres) with a lake at the bottom. There are no hard-standing pitches in the main area (although I think there were a few on a side track) which didn't matter to us as the weather was fabulous and the ground was dry as a bone. We pitched our pup tent and had plenty of space. There are electric hook-up points all over and when we arrived we were told to help ourselves to any spot we wanted. (Note- they allow late / overnight arrivals, you just drive on to the site and find a spot then sort things out in the morning)

The toilet block is brick built, regularly cleaned and doesn't look that old. There are male and female showers @ £1 for 15 mins. There is plenty of hot water for washing in the sinks and there is a pot-washing hut with the microwave, fridge kettle and a payphone with a number of useful tourist brochures and books people have left behind.

There is also a laundry room with coin operated washing machines, dryers etc.

The nearest pub (Lake Huron) is around half a mile away (about a quarter of a mile down a road with no path, then the rest of the way on a safe path). There are no shops close by other than a couple of corner type shops on the way into Ryde. We walked regularly into Ryde - about 20-25 mins (which has a decent sized Somerfield store and there is a large Tesco superstore about two miles to the West of the campsite). There are buses into Ryde but not particularly frequent.

All in all a good experience and our neighbours are going there this week too.
