I stopped overnight, as part of a small group, on a backpacking trip in the area. Although the temperature was freezing (-4)the welcome was warm. We pitched under a small group of larch trees with a lovely view. The facilities were very clean and ample for our needs. The nearby Birch Tree pub staff and locals welcomed us. The beer wasn't too bad either! The town of Coalville is nearby. If you are looking to get away on your own or with family and children, this site will fit the bill. I fully recommend this site.

After buying a huge tent, we wanted to try it out somewhere fairly close to home. This site is set in beautiful, picturesque surroundings with a brook running through the tent field. The site is basic (not a big commercial site with lots of things for the kids to spend your money on).
It has a shower/toilet block (very clean with hot water), a wash room for pots and pans (again very clean) and chemical toilet disposal - everything you need for a peaceful retreat. There are a couple of pubs and shops nearby (10 min walk) and there are plenty of nice walks if that's your thing.
We walked along the disused railway line. The lady that checked us in was very friendly and let us know where she was if we needed her for anything, but left us to it which was great. The best thing is the fresh eggs for sale - we had them for breakfast - yum! yum!

Just back from this lovely peaceful site. A fine spot for a weekend away. Must comment on previous comments about the showers and washing up facilities. Shower was excellent and always clean a pity there was only one toilet for ladies and one for men though. The water for washing up was hot enough to wash greasy pans and lots of useful local information in the washing up shed. Seemed a very friendly site and the views were excellent. Lots of very happy and active children. What more could you want?

We stayed here for one night with our friends as they wanted to test their new caravan. Nice well presented site with clean toilets and showers which were also hot.
Plenty of open space for children to play including a little stream and animals as previously stated.
If you want a quiet relaxing site this would be perfect.
There is a pub (the Birch Tree) about 15 minutes walk away which do reasonably priced meals with a free bottle of wine if you pre book.
I saw the previous comment regarding the dog and have to say we didn't have any problems with it.

We have been to Lower Grange as part of a group of 5 caravans several times in the last year. This site is a wonderful base for walking and is a short drive or a £4 taxi ride into Coalville town. We take our dog and are all made very welcome, the peace and quiet and tranquil setting with panoramic views are wonderful. There are fields for children to explore and a lovely stream for my dog to paddle in. There are goats and horses, chickens and rabbits. It has a separate ladies and gents shower and toilet which have always been clean. We all agree that this is a perfect 'get away from it all' site and hope to have many more pleasurable times there.

Great little site tucked away from the main road and very well looked after by ann & john, the toilet's (ladies and mens) are clean the shower's are hot. The site is also very secure electronic gates, cameras etc,The views are great and its only a little walk over the fields into the town, there is loads nearby to go and see 'ask ann for some discount vouchers' she is very helpful on local knowledge but watch out for her little dog 'don't let the kids stroke it be warned! There are a few animals on site which the kids loved, small horses, rabbits etc,yes there all locked up.There is no climbing frame swings for the kids but plenty of grassy areas for ball games. We really enjoyed our stay there and look forward to going back.

Only stayed for 1 night (2 adults & 1 10 year old) but had a lovely time, we were made to feel very welcome by John & Anne (and all the animals). Very well presented site with spotless toilets & showers. Lovely views from the site with good walks around and also into the village. Shops, pubs and chippy close by and also worth a visit is Donington Le Heath 17th Century House. Will certainly be revisiting again soon.

Just thought I'd write a quick review of this site.
DON'T be put off by the scruffy entrance and the caravan storage. The site is lovingly looked after with a couple of excellent, fairly new showers and toilets.
It is on the edge of fields and has a lovely aspect. We parked up next to goats and bantams, with rabbits hopping around. A hare was frolicking in the field next door.
Plenty of space for the outfits, individual hook ups, hard standing for all pitches.
Try it out for a peaceful weekend.Anne and John are very friendly.

Sorry but we didn't recognize the previous review left. This is the second time we have visited this site and everything was exactly as stated in my first review (did the previous reviewer actually read the reviews - as I mentioned the cold only washing up water then???).
The only extra was that we were asked to take away any non-domestic rubbish - Mrs Evans has had problems with campers treating the site like the local dump - i.E. Leaving broken furniture and even an old car bumper! I don't find that an unreasonable request.
Anyway, again a site that I would be happy to re-visit as it is very relaxed and friendly.

We visited this site after reading the reviews, we were disappointed.
On arrival we found the site to be pretty and quite secluded in a lovely setting. The nice and neat mowed pitches with some hard standing were full up so we were put in the overspill field which had a pretty stream running through it and surrounded by open hills with soggy wet long grass and cuttings everywhere, we did have ehu. We pitched up and a little while later we had a visitor to collect our pitch fee and inform us of some rules, not leaving too much rubbish at the bins, with no recycling facilities available at all we took ours home with us, but actual rubbish we were not prepared to carry home, ball games were only allowed in our field, dont feed the friendly dog which was allowed to run free and poop wherever it liked, dont go near the horses etc and if we have visitors they are charged at 2.00 each
The toilet/shower facilities 1 gents 1 ladies didnt appear to have been cleaned at all during our 4 day stay, and the showers were not very good at all with little pressure and the temp very variable from scorching to cold within seconds.
The washing up sink only had cold water to it so no good for any greasy items.
We did enjoy our stay but we would not return
