A nice basic site with a small field for camping in a nice quiet area of wales, with lovely scenery.
The facilities are very basic with 1 shower for men and 1 for women, showers takes 20p and water pressure wasn't great, a mirror was smashed on the floor in both the mens and womens shower and and wasn't cleared up for the duration of our 2 day stay, the shower contained a dirty duckboard which has to be lifted if you want to get out and hope it hasnt fell down if you want to get in, toilets in the mens were dark and dull but sufficed, my g/f had no complaints about the womens.
There were only 3 tents in the field so we had plenty of space, we were awoken early each morning by a donkey and cockerel.
We arrived late afternoon and had trouble finding a shop open nearby, in the evenings we walked to the nearby village and had nice food in the pub.
On the whole if you can put up with the facilities which although dim do the job required and don't mind being woken at silly o clock by farm animals it is a nice scenic campsite ideal for exploring mid Wales

A lovely site in beautiful surroundings. Any reasonable size motorhome will need a hard standing as the grass is very soft underfoot. There are not many hard standings. Some static and seasonal vans.
Charges very reasonable (£15.50) motor van, two adults and electric. Did not use facilities so can't comment on them. Very peaceful site with the exception of the cars/farm vehicles from a farm further up the valley and which use the narrow road running through the site, not particularly frequently but when they do they seem to drive extremely quickly.
Children and pets will have to be closely supervised with the infrequency of the traffic making it even more dangerous. All in all a great site and we will return again.

Was a great site for so many reasons. Red lion near by does good food at good prices. Camp site owners were great nothing to much trouble and were also great with my three kids. The Site is well located for surrounding tourist attractions. My children loved the animals that the owners had which included horses quails and two friendly dogs. Most people on site seemed pleased with there choice of site and were more than happy to tell us about the best places to visit. All in all I would like to visit again.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming, but we found the site a bit noisy as the pitches are close to the main road and I wouldn't recommend this site if you have young children because tractors and cars drive past just feet away, in front of the vans, which is a shame because there are lovely views from this site, As long as you have a sat. Dish you can get TV but mobile phone signal very poor.

We visited the site in August 2009. Our first impression was a very picturesque site. Our tent was pitched on the Caravan part and it was lovely, main road nearby but that wasn't a problem. Fellow campers were lovely. Facilities basic but always clean and tidy. There were two showers for the ladies but as it was busy in August both male and female used the 2nd ladies shower room which also had a sink area. The showers take a 20p. There were also two ladies toilets, one for the men and a urinal. The weather was not the best but we found plenty of places to visit and found many places to walk and cycle. We had the use of Electric hook up and their was a chemical toilet point.
On several occasions we had the jets going over, never quite managed to have the camera ready in time though!
There is the Merrion Mill across the road which is nice for a snack and also good for presents etc. The Red Lion Pub about 10 mins away is good for food we ate there quite a few times, staff very pleasant.
The couple that owned the site Isabel and Rolland were brilliant,as was their daughter very helpful and friendly. We became good friends by the time we left 14 days later, and still keep in touch. They have a large dog which at first looks frightening but on the whole he is a big softee!
There were several families there some with smaller children but no facilities for them i.E play area but this didn't put them off. There was a play area for children in the Merrion Centre.

Just had a fabulous few days here, nice tidy site, as others say, facilities basic, but perfectly adequate. Site clean & in a very picturesque setting, owners are very helpful and really nice, plus full of local information. Local ammenities ok, Red Lion does a brilliant Sunday lunch, and not too far to walk, Brigands Inn for something posher. Garage about 1 mile walk has a small shop as well that sells all basics plus has a cafe which does a huge breakfast plus lunchtime menu, very reasonable & used by locals as well. So must be good. Good stop off point if travelling, but if weather good (as it was) worth staying longer. Peaceful even though near road, but traffic level is not heavy and stops just about altogether by early evening. All in all a pleasant stay & we will be back later in the summer. Already booked!

This is a very quiet and peaceful campsite. My husband and myself stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time. We were fortunate to have a dry weekend and the sun was shinning.
The site owners are a lovely couple, who were very helpful from we arrived till we left. They are also Scottish which made me feel at home as I am Scottish too.
There is a toilet block which I found to be very clean, always stocked with toilet roll. It has hot and cold water and a shower which cost 20p. There is also a washing up area.
There is spectacular views from the campsite. There is a village pub called the Red Lion which was lovely to go and have dinner and drinks outside in the sunshine. There is also the Merrion Mill straight across from the campsite, lovely for afternoon tea and a little keepsake of the village.
We will be back in the summer for a few more days, would recommend to my friend to join us.

We have visited this site several times over the past 6 years staying up to a week at a time. We have always found it to be a most welcoming site with extremely friendly and helpful owners.
The site oozes charm and it's setting is second to none. It's well situated for daily sight seeing trips and is hillwalkers heaven.
A choice of 4 Pubs all within walking distance each serving great meals at affordable prices.
The local Garage / Shop / Cafe is well stocked and adequate for essentials, and if required larger stores are just 10 min drive away.
All in all, a most enjoyable site to visit.

The site has a long strip for tourers on the left as you go in, an area of static caravans in the middle, and to the right there is a rather small but perfectly flat area of short grass opposite the owners' house. It was very wet at the time of my visit, not surprising as the rain has surpassed itself this year, even for Wales, and I was advised to pitch at the drier end, near the static vans. There were a couple of pub-type picnic tables and benches on the grass, one of which I was able to commandeer as mine was the only tent there. The site owners are a lovely, friendly Scottish couple. They have a huge dog who looks a bit intimidating but is in fact quite docile. Being next to the main road there is some traffic noise, but as with most north Wales roads there is very little at night. A big downside is that besides urinals the gents contains just 1 handbasin (with hot and cold water, and a shaver socket) and only 1 wc (with a small basin in the corner, cold water only), while 1 shower that takes 20p's is in a separate building. The village pub is about 12-13 minutes walk away, food nothing special but quite adequate, though they have some good beers, and everyone there was extremely friendly, locals and visitors alike. 1 mile in the other direction, there is a filling station with a shop at the junction of the main roads. All in all, it's OK for an overnight stop but with those limited facilities not really good enough for any longer unless your expectations aren't that high.

A quite pretty campsite some nice views when the weather is right. The amenities do need some working on, the toilet blocks are very shabby, only one toilet, 2 urinals and one wash basin and one shower for the men. The hot water in the toilet block is from an electric heater, this does not get very hot at all, the shower is ok on a good day, but as soon as somebody turns on a tap or flushes the loo it goes cold.
The pot wash has no hot water at all so washing up in cold water rather defeats the object.
In the ladies only 2 showers, 2 wash hand basins, again the same problems with the ladies showers as with the mens. There was a notice on the door to the mens toilet saying for milk and papers someone would call at the site at a certain time he would pip his horn on arrival we never saw or heard him once.
The red lion pub in the village was very nice welcoming and did some really nice food.
Across the road from the campsite was the Merrion Mill very good for gifts and trinkets. A garage come shop about a mile away but if you needed anything else you had a fair way to go to get to a good supermarket. Overall not a great site would not go back again
