We visited the end of August with 4 children. We loved the site, clean facilities, quiet at night. The swimming pool was lovely & very clean. Great facilities for children with the pool, play park, tennis courts & mini golf. Lovely evening walks through Fresnay. Nice swimming lake nearby & plenty to do & visit. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stopped here overnight with a caravan, awning and 7 of us. The campsite staff were happy to accommodate a large party and it was a relatively cheap stay. We were given clear directions to our pitch with a map and found it to be perfect for our requirements, we had water right next to the pitch, electric hook up not too far away (it was a 3 pin electric point). We were right next to the small play area which was great with three small children and we found that it wasn't over run with teenagers as it was really only suitable for small children. The toilet block was just the other side of the play area. We found these to be clean. They were unisex toilets and only one of the 3 cubicles had a seat and you had to take your own paper with you.
There were showers and washing cubicles which didn't have any plugs in the sinks. But it was all clean. The staff were very friendly and pointed us in the direction of the nearest supermarket for our supplies. The pitches were all open and clearly marked.

We camped at Camping Sans Souci both on the way to La Rochelle and and on the way home. We were advised to inform the site in advance that we have a twin axle caravan, and received an email back to say that there was no problem. On the way to La Rochelle we camped there for two days, arriving at around 5pm on Saturday, and departing on Monday morning. We paid a total of €33. 50 Euro for two adults and two children for two nights, including electrical hook up. We felt that this was brilliant value for money. We got stuck in Rouen on the way to Fresnay, so emailed to advise of the delay, as we couldn't get an answer on the phone. Access to the campsite is through the middle of Fresnay Sur Sarthe, over the bridge (controlled by traffic lights) and up a relatively steep hill. The site is fairly well signposted and upon turning up the hill (to the right) the entrance to the campsite is on the right hand side. Its a fairly tight turn, but we have an 8 metre caravan and managed it no problem. As you appproach the campsite the driveway goes past tennis courts on the right hand side, and the swimming pool on the left, and splits into two - the right fork going down towards a recreational area by the river where you can hire canoes etc, and the left through the gateway into the campsite. The reception is on the left hand side, and entrance to the campsite is controlled by a barrier. We received a very warm welcome from Fabrice, who had been expecting us, and thanked us for our email. He spoke excellent English, and with our limited French we were very grateful. We were checked in quickly and efficiently, and were advised that he had kindly reserved the biggest pitch that he had got, and it was parallel to the road around the campsite so we were able to pull on and off the pitch without any reversing, which was really handy. Fabrice advised that if we wanted another pitch, just to put our caravan on it and let him know which one we had taken, but we were happy with his choice. The electrical hookup proved to be slightly problematic as we had to use a converter to convert the blue plug to the 'old' two pin arrangement. However, after opening up the box and having a fiddle and giving the adaptor a good wiggle, we got it all working.
We had a good wander around the site, and it seems that there are two shower blocks - at the top end of the site nearest the reception (where we stayed), the facilities are slightly older, with the older style electrics. However, further down towards the end of the campsite, there is a new children's play area, shower / toilet block and all the pitches are served by EHU suitable for the blue connectors / plugs that we are more familar with.
At check in, we were given a map of the area and some walks were highlighted on it. We explored the local area and used the swimming pool (included in the camping price)
We only used the older facilities so don't know what the new showers are like, but the old ones were adequate, although the water wasn't particularly hot. As someone mentioned previously, they had a curious pull chain arrangement, which was quite interesting !
We had a lovely time at Camping du Sans Souci, and feel its well worth a visit in its own right, rather than just being a stop over point. Our stay was made all the more pleasant by Fabrice who was very friendly, attentive and efficient, and we will definitely be returning at some point.

A very pleasant site in a lovely location. Mostly ample sized, level, grassy and hedged pitches with easy access to electricity and water. A very friendly and helpful manager. The toilet and washing facilities are a little dated (which is often the way with municipal sites) but clean and with plenty of hot water. The chain-pull shower arrangements are a little frustrating as is remembering to take loo paper with you!
The pleasant little town of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe has a Saturday morning market. The castle gardens are well worth a visit with lovely views from the castle walls. The site manager provided us with a little map of a walking tour around the town and which we would thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys a modest walk.
A lovely drive of about 12 miles through the countryside will bring you to Sainte Suzanne, one of the 'Plus Beau Villages de France' and a beautiful ancient fortified town - an absolutely 'must visit' for those who enjoy the beauty of French history.

A very friendly, inexpensive, well run and looked after site in a lovely location.
Originally only going to stop 2-3 nights but ended up staying 6 before heading further south (to bad weather and not so good sites).
Very nice local shops and a Lidl just outside the town as well.
A very good manager who makes you feel very welcome.
Morning bread/croissant on site if booked the day before saves a 5 min walk into town!
Only thing that could think of to improve would be some toilet seats in the ladies (men's were fine).
Our pitch was by the petanque area and some of the games could get quite animated, which we found very funny. Luckily it's not lit up at night so games are only during the daylight.
Would recommend and will use again.

Planned to use this as a stopover and ended up staying 3 nights.
We chose a pitch backing onto the river, quite open but still quite private with trees around. The manager was very helpful and friendly, there's a small shop and you can of course order your bread for the next morning, although I must recommend the pain au raisin best I've ever had.
Toilets & showers were clean and enough of them. The swimming pool was ace and there's also minigolf. There's walks from the site and a few cycle routes and the village is very nice.
Also the cheapest site of the whole holiday at least than 30 euros for 3 nights!

I am also very happy to recommend this campsite. We stayed here for one night on our way to La Rochelle. If we had more time I would have stayed longer.
It was great. We were warmly welcomed by the manager who was very friendly, helpful & spoke great English. No problems with having our dog with us.
The pitches were very big for us with hedges on three sides which gave privacy & wind protection. Pitches 1 to about 5 have hedges on only 2 sides but one open side looks over the river. I think that there are some more pitches which are river side.
If you like nature, you'll like this place.
There is a heated pool, petanque pitch, play area and ping pong table. Picnic tables by the river were a nice touch.
Bread can be ordered for morning pick up from the office.
As said before the town is very pretty and the surrounding area very good for hiking, climbing and mountain biking. I'm sure there's good fishing too.
Super facilities, lots of hot water & kept immaculately clean. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across the site on route to South of France, super site, pitches were spacious and fully serviced, backs onto the river, very peaceful.
Great swimming pool and mini golf on site. Both my boys aged 8 and 10 enjoyed the one night stop over. I would use it again. Very pleasant walk into the town, there seemed to be a few restaurants, shops and banks.
You can order your breads etc from reception for the following day, kayak hire next door. The owner spoke enough English to enable us to book and enjoy our stay

This municipal site has a lovely location by the river just outside a very picturesque little town. We stayed here for an overnight stop based on previous reviews.
The site manager was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the campsite and the area when we arrived. At 17 euros for a family of four with EHU and free access to the swimming pool next door it was very good value for money.
The site is well maintained and laid out with direct access to the river. Wash facilities were on the basic side (no loo seats or loo roll) but very clean and the showers were hot and plentiful. There is a small shop and we were able to order bread and pain au chocolat for the next day. There appeared to be quite a lot of activities organised for children but because we were here for such a short time we were not able to explore this.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this site if you are passing through.

A gem. Lovely site with big pitches, some marked by 10ft tall hedgerows where privacy and shade are guaranteed.
Really pleasant, helpful owner who showed great patience with me when I complained that the hook up was faulty but in fact I just wasn't pushing hard enough to engage the pins! Thereafter took great delight in teasing me at every opportunity.
Only about four shower cubicles per gender but these were spotless and the water was toasty.
There is also a children's play area on the edge of the site. All my son wanted to do whilst we were there was fish so I can't report on this but it looked very good, safe and clean.
Site backs onto the river where the fishing was excellent and kayaks can be hired (after 5th July). The river was also clean enough to swim in and since it was 30+ degrees when we visited the region, this was a welcome 'extra'.
We also used the pool adjacent but this was absolutely packed and impossible to swim in but jnr enjoyed just messing about and the fee was only a few €s.
Fresnay is a beautiful town with a couple of nice bars and a wonderful patisserie.
We're going back this July, we liked it that much
