It took us a bit of time to locate this site but it was fantastic once we got there, We where welcomed and shown round with everything explained, so very friendly.

The pitch site is completely flat situated beside the edge of the water but with a nice white fence around the camping area. The 'wee house' building that's spotless, has excellent showers at £1 for 11minutes. No other charges --washing machine, dryer, poolie and an outside washing line with pegs available. Fridge, table and chairs, pots pans & microwave all in great condition & an outside seating decked area and very very clean.

There is a book swap area and loads of games & magazines and ideal local information leaflets on things to do when your out and about Try the local community hall for Afternoon tea. The local fisherman also caught an sold us beautiful fish and scallops at a great price. Everyone made us so welcome and where very friendly

This is an amazing campsite with hook ups also available and well worth a visit, can't recommend enough

Wonderful site, wonderful people. Superb community. Incredibly friendly. We stayed here then moved on, but returned due to storms as this I the most sheltered site we found in Shetland.

Facilities excellent. Warm room to sit in when the tent became to cold in the evening. Fridge, kettle, toaster, washing up facilities, laundry (wash and dry), 2 showers. Well equipped kitchen.

Thanks to Josephine and Nadia for making us feel so welcome. If there are any event in the community hall I would recommend attending.

This is a fabulous site in a fabulous location. Only about 20 miles from Lerwick it was our first stopping off Point when we arrived. What a nice site. Very welcoming.

The facilities are immaculate and cannot be faulted. Where you park your unit is amazing. Cannot fault tisi site which is run by a volunteer. Don't forget to order your fresh fish for delivery around 10pm.

Very good value

This site was very clean and tidy with hard standings for all vehicles, electric hook ups and water.

The toilet block was immaculate with toilets and showers, table and chairs and even tea coffee and hot chocolate to drink, washing machine and dryer.

We had a lovely view over the bay looking at the little boats. I did ask the lady for a crab for tea twice, but was disappointed. An otter was spotted from the hide on site a few days before so everyone met up there in the evening in anticipation but we did not spot him.

This is a lovely site but the shower ran out half way through my husband shampooing his hair, so the 11minutes we were told the shower lasted was a lot shorter for the £1 we paid.

Wow! We pulled our caravan up from the south of England and had pre booked this site having read previous reviews here and were not disappointed. The Northlink ferry docked at 7. 30am in Lerwick and remarkably you can stay on board to have breakfast once you've moved your rig off and parked up on the quay - brilliant.

So we arrived on site about 10am and coincidentally bumped into Jim who helps run this small site (20 pitches plus tents) with his wife Josephine who both make you feel so welcome. Although we had booked it was all but empty and we were able to take a great pitch up by the hide overlooking the bay and the marina. All caravan and mobile home pitches are hardstanding each with electric hook ups and plenty of fresh water taps. A pretty new building houses a couple of showers and toilets with washing facilities and laundry plus local information and is kept in very good order.

This is a local community site and it made a perfect base for us to then tour throughout the Shetlands with easy days out to every point. However, we did stop for the night at the Baltasound Hotel on the most northerly island of Unst having walked the route around Hermaness with sheer cliffs and crazy puffins and mercifully blue skies. The hotel is the only one on this island but the food is delicious which helped soften the blow we settled up the following morning.

Skeld Caravan Site is a peaceful retreat after a busy day site seeing and is absolutely charming. Talk with the fishermen when they come in with their catch and buy a few scallops or the daily catch at wholesale prices. Jim and Josie pop around during the day to make sure all is well and you can wander up to the hide to try and spot a seal or otter.

We were smitten with the Shetlands and with Skeld. Go there.

What a little gem! This was our first visit to this campsite, staying for three nights in a tent, and it was the last stop on our two week holiday.

The site is beside Skeld marina, in a small field on the shore. The field is level, and during our visit was very dry. The site is served by a new amenity block, housing two showers and three toilets. Showers are £1 for eleven minutes and are very clean.

All the toilet cubicles also have a sink, served with hot and cold water (free). The amenity block also contains a kettle, microwave, fridge, washing up sink (free hot water), various items of cutlery and crockery, and also a washing machine (£2) and dryer (£2). Finally, there's a visitor book, various reading books, and leaflets on local attractions.

The site is community owned and managed, but is run primarily by one couple in the village. They take immense pride from the site and keep it spotless and 'homely', right down to the fresh flowers every week in the amenity block. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are very welcoming.

Camper vans were parked alongside the fence bordering the marina, which looked ideal for them.

There's also a bird hide overlooking the bay, which was very well maintained and great for relaxation.

The site and marina are at the head of the bay which is down in a dip, so there's reasonable shelter from the Shetland winds. However this also means zero mobile phone coverage. The site is on the 'West Side' (of Shetland) which typically enjoys better weather than Lerwick.

No recycling facilities on-site, but these can be found at the community hall just up the hill. There are also various houses/farms selling fresh duck and hen eggs. The Shetland Cheese factory also sells the essentials, ad the very helpful owner will pick up other items for you if you give him 24 hours notice.

Local attractions we'd recommend include: Shetland Cheese (5 minute walk - shop and factory tours), Da Gairdens (15 minute drive - excellent example of what CAN grow on Shetland if you plan properly), and various local walks. We'd also recommend Michaelswood in Aith.

Lovely quiet site by marina. Very helpful warden who is particularly good at recommending local places of interest. Good facilities, in a comfortable building though this is not a luxury site.

Good walks from site. There is a hide at the end of the site which people have seen otters from. Camper van/caravan pitches are hardstandings with hook ups around what seems to be an old small harbour. Tents have a small field.

A community run site, like many in Shetland. A good base for this area of Shetland, we stayed overnight, but could easily have spent longer if time had permitted.

I stayed here in January in a tent the weather was great once night it was 8c in the tent at night warm for winter. The site is well sheltered from the wind. I was at the campsite for 5 days.

There is a very clean kitchen with microwave, kettle, fridge, heater, lights, tourist info, cups, plates. Plugs where you can charge your phone or mp3. There is no cooker and no toaster.

The people who run the campsite are very helpful and friendly.

There is no shop in the area the nearest shop is 10 miles away but there is 2 buses a day in the winter from here. Even so it very easy to hitch hike a lift into town from here even with not much cars on the road in the winter.

There are 3 toilets, Showers that is £1 for 11 minutes.

There was no WIFI hotspot or computer for internet use. Also in the campsite there is no mobile signal for any of the networks but a walk up the hill in Skeld and you can pick up signal on most the networks fine, This maybe a blessing for some people ok if you don't need to be in 24 hour contact.

Loved my stay here probably one the best campsites of stayed at I visit again on my next visit.

It is £6 + £2 per adult for camping.

We stayed at this great campsite over a weekend, while the parents were in a Motorhome, we braved the tent!

A very well equipped site, with excellent facilities. The campsite is run voluntarily and is kept spotlessly clean. There is a new amenity block that we nicknamed 'HQ'.

A laundry room with washing machine, dryer (extra charge) and a pulley. There are 2 toilets and a shower room that costs £1 for an 11 minute shower and a disabled shower room. Also in the block is a kitchen area which has a microwave and a fridge. There are also plenty of plates and cutlery available.

If the weather is bad you can sit in HQ and eat at the provided table and chairs. There are several hook ups available (we didn't use) and some picnic benches. All in all an excellent site.

Will definitely return and hope for less rain and wind next time! But, that is the joy of Shetland. We used delta pegs and were glad we did as the second night was very windy and our tent stayed put!

A typically warm island welcome was received to what is a beautifully situated site at a marina in a lovely part of Shetland.

Facilities at present are minimal as there is no hot water in the public toilets and a key is required for the one shower in the boating club. There are a good number of electric hook ups, easily accessed fresh water points but there is no facility for chemical waste. Was informed that funding is now in place for a new facilities block which could make this site a first class destination when completed.

The nearest shops are approximately five miles away.

A good base for touring the Westside of the Shetland mainland. The highlights for me were walks at Sandness Hill and the Broch of Culswick, which should not be missed.
