 Had a very enjoyable 5 day visit to the campsite. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and informative. The site is set in beautiful woodland with plenty of room and shade when it gets hot, there is lots of local wildlife about as we experienced one night as we approached the site and had a beautiful fully grown stag in all his glory in our headlights (brilliant). The toilet blocks etc are kept spotless and great to have a lovely pool to cool down in. If you are a couple looking for a peaceful retreat or a family looking to keep the kids happy this site has it all. I would recommend a stay to anyone and looking forward to our next trip.

Stayed for 4 nights with my wife and our teenage daughter and her friend. The owners gave us a wide choice of pitches and were generally very welcoming. All the facilities (including separate male and female sanitation blocks) were of a high standard and very clean. Some extra facilities included refrigerator space being available to campers, very welcome in hot weather. The site is in a beautiful situation and there is plenty to see and do in the local area. I would recommend this site to anybody looking for a holiday in the heart of rural France.

We visited this site mid-August.
The approach we took to the site may have been the wrong one. We entered from the south side of the site. The forest track was fairly badly rutted in spots and more suitable to a tractor. It might be a problem for a car though as we were in a 05 Ford Galaxy and this has decent ground clearance. We made it though, no big deal really, just mentioning it in case people are pulling their caravan with a Ferrari! We never used the other entrance from the north so it could be a tarmac layers fantasy for all I know!
Anyway, we were only staying one night on our way south.
When we arrived the Dutch man welcomed us and offered us a pitch but said we could pitch wherever we wanted.
This is a really quiet site. There were maybe 6 other visitors so you could call it exclusive!
We arrived late enough so kids didn't get to use the pool which looked fun. They did have a kick around in the play area and used the goals that were there.
The toilet block and showers were very clean.
After travelling from Roscoff we needed and had a quiet/solid nights sleep.
My wife was slightly put off by how far the site was from the autoroute but I didn't think it was that bad maybe 12 miles to the site from the turnoff?
Overall pleasant experience.

Second week September 2012, weather like England but dry.
Be careful if trying to use GPS to find the site (and in the general area) many of the 'roads' are actually tracks through the forest and you can end up going in circles trying to find the way in.
Once found, the site is just what we like. Loads of space, large pitches, well shaded, water at stand pipes close at hand. Loos, showers, washups all kept very clean and fresh. BBQ's no problem.
The owners are very friendly and helpful making recommendations for walks and visits in the area.
As mentioned the site is totally surrounded by broadleaf forest so wildlife is in abundance and walking is a pleasure. We had the awesome experience of hearing rutting stags bellowing on the edge of the site one night, almost scary. Only had three nights here so the only visit we managed was to the Jardins artistiques de Drulon a lovely garden housing a collection of weird modern art.
If you like quiet and natural you will love this site. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay here(8/9 days summer 2012). The campsite is set on a hill in a forest so you're surrounded by trees - there are woodpeckers, wood pigeons, hedgehogs, rabbits etc, if you look carefully.
V clean toilet block and washing up area and generally looked after by the friendly Dutch owners and their family/friends. You can use the fridges which is handy if you don't have a way of keeping food cool. There's a little hut selling snacks/chips/quiches etc though not a restaurant.
There is wireless internet near the pool/hut area - also a computer you can use, but it's not exactly state-of the art!
Pool is nice and our son loved it. There are quite a few small lakes ('etangs')which are also great for swimming in. We found the Etang de St Bonnet nicer and less busy than the local lake but no cafe there (we didn't need one).
This is a very quiet site which we loved though it might not suit you of course. It's a beautiful area, still fairly undiscovered by tourists. I'm amazed there aren't more British there, mostly Dutch and French which is fine by me.
We just had a tent and a car so can't comment on water/elec etc, but we had a fantastic view of this green campsite and the forest from our pitch and I'd recommend it.

We have just returned from a two week stay at this lovely campsite having booked a pitch on the strength of the reviews we read here - we were not disappointed.
The pitches are large, well shaded, some with a slight slope. Our pitch had water supply and electricity and was quite close the toilet block. This block is always clean, but not the most modern. However, there was never a problem with hot water and no queues. You did need to provide your own toilet paper, but on the other hand the owners provided washing up liquid at the sinks.
There is a laundry room with free fridge and a washing machine and tumble dryer (2 euros) - airers were provided for free.
The inflatable swimming pool was actually great for the kids. It is deep enough for adults to swim, but not too deep for our children to feel unsafe.
The site is quiet and peaceful, but extremely family friendly. The owners' relaxed attitude and the abundance of space helps to create a lovely atmosphere.
Elizabeth and family run the site together and are attentive but not intrusive. They obviously like children and families and put on a range of free activities for everyone such as toasting marshmallows around a campfire, guided walks in the surrounding Oak forests and father and son walks - all lovely things to do.
There is free wifi close to the pool and bread and croissants can be ordered daily. You can order pizzas and quiche and chips from the on site kiosk. Ice creams are available as well.
The site is extremely good value for money (14 nights, 2 adults, 3 children, large 200m pitch, ehu - 437 euros).
This is an unspoilt part of France and a really lovely, quiet site. We would highly recommend a stay here.

We stopped here as a stop over on the journey South. Although twelve miles from the Peage it offered the opportunity to visit a good sized Carrefour for supplies and supermarket priced fuel.
The site is a forest escape in Central rural France, run by helpful Dutch owners. The site has tree sheltered pitches spread considerately through a spacious pine wooded area.
The toilet and shower block is modern and well maintained and electricity seemed readily available but we did not take up this option.
There is a large grass area with a snack bar and an inflatable walled swimming pool that was not overly used while we were there.
The site seemed to have lots of rules on arrival but the atmosphere was relaxed and informal once you settled in. There was a lot of information on cycle and walking routes in the vicinity available for those on a longer stay.
We only used this as a one night stop over as a number of other Brits on the site were doing. The site does seem to offer a great spot for a rural relaxed get away place to stay.

We reckon we have been to this site on ten separate occasions now; previously with French owners and now with Dutch owners. The site is fantastic; quiet, clean and in the heart of natural beauty.
We were there with very few other guests and continue to be encouraged to 'pitch where you wish'. Although there were no other children for our ten year old to play with, the facilities, though basic are fine; pool, a collective football and, of course, the local forest to discover and the lakes to swim in.
There are some good places to eat within cycling or short car trips; Chez Chaumat in Cerilly is a firm favourite.
Electric hookup is easy and there are plenty of water points.
Although there is no restaurant, this is a bonus in my view, ensuring that the site remains peaceful.
My only request would be to know where else we could find such absolute tranquillity!
Toilets maintained very clean with plenty of hot water. The grass is kept very well maintained and the site very free from litter.
All in all, this continues to be an absolute gem.

What a great find ! Lovely little site in the middle of nowhere - simple yet all you need. Even a communal fridge and a washing machine. All very clean and regularly checked. Lots of space for children to play and even a little swimming pool. And a little cafe that can offer simple food if you can't be bothered one evening. Order your bread etc the night before and it is delivered to the site.
We were there for 15 August and still plenty of space - we opted to forgo electricity to be on the far side and felt there was only our tent with nothing but tranquillity out of the door.
Friendly Dutch owners - who not only told us about the (free) bank holiday fireworks over the lake in a nearby village but went in convoy with us to be sure we didn't get lost.
Awesome display, watched from the beach - set to music and not too noisy for small children. We would love to back to this site. Full marks.
Lovely villages in the area. Delightful, 'real' France.
Everything you could possibly want yet still a quiet, relaxed site - not in your face four star 'glamping'. Loved it.

This site is built on a hill within a forest of ancient oaks.
It is owned and run by Lizabeth and her husband, a couple from the Netherlands with excellent English.
We were shown round the site on arrival and even though we had asked for 2 large pitches, we were actually told to choose wherever we wanted to be.
Not having children we opted to stay at a distance from the play area and pool, although there are strategically placed table tennis tables with bats and balls throughout the site.
Any holiday is what you make it and we chose to do nothing, or very little. We did basic shopping and had a run to Montlucon in search of an awning, which had been destroyed by hailstones. The storm was unpredicated and Lizabeth and her family were incredibley helpful.
The area is beautiful, very Yorkshire Dales with sunshine! The site was not full, in fact it was very quiet. For our taste it was none the worse for that. Though not alcoholics, we did miss there not being a bar, either on site or within walking distance. The nearest village was not what we would call within walking distance (5km)
A lovely site, it would benefit from terracing (IMO)but maybe that will come, they have already moved mountains to get it to this current state.
The sanitary facilities were adequate and separate areas allocated to men and women. We never did work out when the water was hot enough to wash up but mid afternoon appeared to be the best time for a shower, otherwise it could be a bit chilly.
We would certainly return.
