Without a doubt this is the best campsite we have ever stayed on in France. We got a reduced rate with our ACSI discount card. The pitches are huge and divided well with shrubs and hedging. The grass is proper grass, mowed regularly and the landscaping in general is lovely. The site is right on the front opposite Utah beach. The toilet blocks are very clean and modern with abundant hot water, hand wash, toilet rolls etc. There are 4 sanitation blocks in total and each has a washing machine, tumble drier and ironing board. The washing machine we used was far better than some of the huge ones in large coastal campsites that wash your clothes in 20 minutes but they do not come out properly clean. This one did! There are 2 pools, one covered and one open air, a takeaway, bar and restaurant, play areas etc. We were there late in the season and there were people arriving all the time - a testament to how good this site is.
Nearby is St Mere Eglise the town made famous by the US Airborne troops parachuting into the area early on the morning of D day. I cannot help but think if the small town was in Spain or even the USA it would have a McDonalds on one corner of the square, with a Starbucks, Burger King and a Dunkin Donuts on the other 3. Not so here - it is unspoilt. The Airborne Museum just off the square is amazing and well worth a visit - as are several others in Normandy. The Bayeux Tapestry is also a short drive away. Driving up the Cherbourg peninsula you will discover some pretty coastal villages and small towns - one with a Mediterranean micro climate! I am sure the area would be very very busy in the summer months particularly in early June when the campsite would be full. Their facilities may possibly be stretched. When we were there the weather was kind, the crowds had gone and it was bliss!

A great site which was easy to find, good and easy check in with very friendly staff. We had a basic pitch which was more than big enough for our large tent with room for our car trailer and room to sit out in the sun. Lovely warm and large indoor and outdoor swimming pools, good bar area, basic but nice takeaway counter, huge play areas, trampolines, bouncy inflateables, showers always hot and clean. Just a ten minute drive to Saint Mere Eglise for a supermarket and petrol station. Lots to see and do in Normandy, lots of D-Day things to see The Memorial at Caen, Bayeux Tapestry, Bayeux Commonwealth War Cemetary, American Airbourne Museum, Mont Saint Michele, Utah Beach Museum were all excellent places we visited with lots more we didn't see. We would highly recommend to anyone and are already looking to go back next year

We stayed here for 3 nights after crossing from Poole to Cherbourg - the drive from the port was around an hour and the site was easy to find and access, all of the staff spoke English and the check in was very quick.
We had a deluxe pitch which included a private shower, toilet, sink and washing up area at the rear of the pitch. This was definitely worth the extra few pounds a night and I would recommend to take one if you are debating as we did at the time of booking.
The pitch was large and private - more than enough room for car, caravan, awning and still space to sit outside. The pitches got the sun all day which was also a great bonus for us.
We used the shop which had the basics - but also had lovely cakes and pastries - prices were very reasonable. We didn't visit the bar or snack bar - however the prices were reasonable although it was only open for a couple of hours a day due to the time of year.
The village is near by - around a 10minute walk and there is a bar and restaurant but again we didn't visit.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We have stayed at this campsite for the last three years on a large pitch as we have a tent as well as 7 of us go, we have always had a super time and have found the site to be very very clean on all counts, the staff are always most helpful as is the little shop, it is an ideal place to be to explore Normandy. The restaurant just up the road is great, and it is good fun exploring the many little villages that are nearby, a must is St Mare Eglise on market day which is on a Thursday, how we wish we had some of markets like the French, do take time to visit the fishing villages then back to the site for a barbecue, a moonlight walk across the beech, glass of wine perfect.

My husband and I stayed here for I week during our holiday in France. We choose it because of the excellent reviews it had and because we wished to visit the D Day landing beaches and museums. This is a 5* site with lots to do on site. Excellent showers, toilets and laundry facilities. We had a Grand Comfort pitch with water and electric. A very large size with trees and hedging on 3 sides in a group of 4 facing each other. Behind us was one of the three boule pitches, nearby stables, a herd of goats{very friendly], and chickens. There are swimming pools, children's clubs, bar, takeaway, play areas, bouncy castles etc. Lots of happy campers. The beach is massive and is only across the road. Lots of fishing, boating and walking. Visited monuments and museums and local villages. Ate a great meal at a restaurant at Ravenoville Plage. Very enjoyable.

I cannot comment on what this site is like in peak season, but in June we had a fantastic stay and wished we had booked in for longer.
The site is just across the road from the beach, and has plenty to do. There are two pools, tennis, table tennis, playgrounds, animals - in fact lots of things to entertain people of all ages. Our 9 to 16 year olds were delighted with all that was available, and the 80 year old camper on the neighbouring pitch seemed equally happy. The toilet blocks and showers were clean and ample at that time of year, although they may get busy later in the season.
The pitches are huge - we asked for a large one for our 8 man tent and large van, but would easily have fitted into a standard size one. They are grassy and level, and at this time of year the campsite is very peaceful indeed with fewer than half the pitches occupied. Our pitch had reverse polarity, but most of those around didn't - you just have to go prepared for whatever you may get.
We mostly spent our time on the beach or campsite, although we did visit Bayeux for the 'tapestry' and Mont St Michel - there are also many museums, castles, villages and beaches within easy reach. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this campsite.

I agree with all the positive comments about this site. The staff are very helpful, the site is clean and beautifully kept and the pitches (we had a Gran Confort one) are generous. We stayed only one night after landing at Cherbourg but would definitely return if we were that way again. I imagine it must be heaving in the summer due to it's location but it was very quiet when we were there
The site is virtually on the beach (which is long and clean albeit not golden sand) and an easy drive to the Landing beaches or Bayeux, Isigny etc. St Mere Eglise has shops, restaurants, museums etc.
Our pitch did have reverse polarity so that is something to bear in mind. The site isn't cheap but I think it's worth the money.

This was the third time we have been to this site and YES we will be returning.
The site is clean and tidy and the toilets are immaculate, cleaned regulary and no queueing for them or the showers which are free.
We stayed on one of the serviced pitches right by the goats. The pitch had its own electric supply, fresh water point and grey waste didposal.
There are two main swimming pools one indoor and the other outdoor. The area around the pool was kept clean and contained plenty of sun loungers. Unfortunately towards the end of the season the shop and bar operate reduced hours. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at reception who are more than willing to assist you with directions, things to do or places to visit.
The site is ideally located if you are looking to visit various D-Day landing sites. A ten minute drive from Saint Mere Eglise which has a Super you supermarket with petrol station. It is about an hour and a half from Caen and half an hour from Cherbourg ideal for the ferries.

This was our first experience of camping in France and we loved every minute of it. It was a last minute decision as the weather at our usual UK site wasn't looking good so we decided to take the plunge and chase the sun. After looking at the reviews on this site's we decided that La Cormoran was the site for us. We phoned a few days in advance to book a pitch which proved to be a wise decision as on arrival the site was turning people away.
We traveled from Dover to Calais and then had a four and a half hour drive. The drive went well with the roads nice and clear and frequent toilet/picnic areas to break the drive up. The drive did involve a few toll charges and I recommend paying by credit card as this enables you to avoid the queues.
On arrival my good lady took her place in the queue at the reception where she had to listen to 3 families being turned away as the site was full. She nervously approached the desk when her turn came but we had nothing to worry about as the phone call a few days earlier had done the trick. We basically had the last pitch available. My good lady tells me that the reception staff were very helpful speaking very good English and making her feel very welcome. We were given a pitch number and a map of the campsite and off we went.
We had a lovely pitch with hedges on 3 sides, enough room for a 6 man tent and to park the car. The pitch included electricity and the connection was the same as the UK. The toilets and showers were close by and were always clean and well maintained. Depending on the time of day we did have to wait a couple of minutes for a shower but there was never big queues.
The campsite has 1 indoor and 1 outdoor pool and plenty of sun loungers, there was even an outdoor gym. I would recommend taking your own bikes to get out and explore although you can hire adult bikes from the campsite. There is a child's playground along with a small mountain bike type track and enough open area for other games and activities laid on by the campsite. There is a small field containing very friendly goats which you are able to go in and feed and if you like horse riding this can be arranged on site. The site has its own bar and shop and take away bar if you don't fancy cooking in the evening. Just outside Saint Mere Eglise which is about 10 minutes away you will find a Super you supermarket and petrol station.
The site itself has a beach 20 metres from his outside its gates. You can stroll up and down this beach and take a look at the still remaining parts of the Atlantic wall left from World War 2. The Utach Beach landing museum is 8km up the road and you will drive through Saint Mere Eglise on the way to the site.
This is a wonderful site with very welcoming and helpful staff and we would definitely return in the future.

I booked this campsite on the recommendation of the good reviewers of uk campsite as a four night stopover at the end of a long trip around France before heading back to Britain. Had I arrived at a completely different campsite?
The site was packed but our pitch was a decent size and sheltered on three sides so we pitched up and explored. Yes there are pools and go karts and a playground and a games room blah blah blah but they were horrible.
Pool and changing area were dirty, playground was full of grafitti, outdoor covered eating area was filthy and the roof was broken so rain dripped onto you as you ate, pizza restaurant served pizzas so foul that even our kids didn't eat them, trampolines and bouncy castles were like a battleground and all over the site were lists of rules, none of which were adhered to.
It could have been the time of year (busy) or the type of locals that the site attracts (is there a French word for Chav?) but the poor harrassed owner was running around screaming at kids to stop doing this and that while their parents were nowhere to be seen!
Packed site = queue for showers, toilets and sinks and everything stank, even after they had been cleaned (bizarrely between 8. 30 and 9. 30am just when everyone wanted to use them!)
On the plus side, the small shop was well stocked, the tennis court was well kept, the pygmy goat area was a hit with our kids and the staff were helpful and friendly, but very weary. The site is well placed for visits to the D day beaches, museums and cemetries and the nearest small town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise is well worth a visit for it's prettiness and dramatic history.
This ticked all the boxes on paper but in reality was a disappointment. The staff and owners who live on site try their best but are let down by some of their campers who don't care about other campers or their surroundings. Suffice to say we won't be revisiting this site.
