We stayed here for ten nights as a family of four.
The site was just right for us. We had a pitch on the south west edge of the site away from any possible hustle and bustle of the pool / reception / shop. The pitch had plenty of space four our large tent, was nice a level with a UK electric hook up. The toilets / washrooms were always nice clean and there was never a queue during our stay
The covered pool was big enough for our children (8 and 4) and was not too busy despite the outdoor pool being too cold for most. I would have thought that, so long as the weather is warm enough, both the covered and outdoor pools would be sufficient for everyone on the site. The play areas went down well with our two children with bouncy castles and trampolines behind the reception building and go-karts available to tour the site on. I can imagine that in the height if the season the play areas can be busy and it is worth noting that they well away from the pitches to you cannot site outside your tent / caravan and keep an eye on the children.
The on-site shop had fresh bread / croissants daily bit for most of our shopping we used the Super-U in St-Mere-Eglise (15 mins drive). We did not eat in the restaurant which seemed quite quiet, with just the odd person in there whenever we passed.
The staff in the reception and shop were very friendly as were any staff we came across around the site.
The local area has plenty to do. As mentioned by other the beach is just over the road from the campsite and there is plenty of room for everyone. The nearby town of St-Mere-Eglise has the Airborne museum which was interesting and there is the Utah Beach memorials and museum. If all the WW2 museums and cemetery become too much I can recommend Festyland just outside Caen. Amusement parks are not normally our thing but the children loved it. There was plenty for our four year old and we were there for almost six hours.
Overall I would certainly consider going back.

Have just returned from a short break at this really lovely site. It was very quiet, not sure if it always like as there were very few children, so presume that the French children had gone back to school. We had a beautiful pitch, it was large with a hedge around so very private. Toilets were always spotless as were the pools. My children loved the 'billiard-golf' and there were play areas for al ages. We felt very safe letting the children walk around on their own.
Reception staff could not be more helpful. We asked them for the address of a local vet so we could make an appointment for our dog so his pet passport could be completed. The girl on reception offered to ring for us to make the appointment.
If you are thinking of taking your dog the beach is perfect. Dogs are allowed and it is sandy and very quiet.
Freshly baked crossiants and bagettes are sold every morning and there is a take-away pizza and these were very nice.
We have been to lots of sites and rate this one highly.

We rented a relaxed family self catering 2 bedroom cabin/mobile home which was small (as advertised) but very clean and well suited to our family of four (two under 3). It was very well equipped with everything we needed although you need to bring or hire sheets and towels). The hedges around each site were a nice touch for privacy and shelter, although not fully fenced. The campground had a great variety of activities(bouncy castles, trampolines, swimming pools (9am-8pm), an indoor swimming pool and pay to use go carts, horse riding, shrimp nets, tennis courts) to suit all ages as well as a daily activity schedule. The staff were very helpful, going out of their way when we needed assistance (vehicle breakdown and us not able to speak french!), even after we had checked out. The shop (8. 30am-8pm)had fresh bread and croissants every morning, as well as all the basics, and at reasonable prices. Also a restaurant and takeaway. Didn't use the shared facilities much, but they appeared clean and functional. There is a small playground walking distance down the road, and a small supermarket in a nearby village or big one in Marie St Eglise.
The beach, although not golden sands, was historically significant, with bunkers from the German occupation still standing along the beach and in the farmyards around the area. A 5minute drive down the coast took us to a very very well presented museum (Utah Beach museum) which even entertained our toddler with underfloor models and a life size fighter plane.
There are many surrounding towns to visit by car - we even got as far as Le Mont St Michel which is a must - but don't take your buggy as it is very steep, narrow and busy inside.
Can't comment on bars, although there is one at the campground.

Stayed here for three nights, coming from Calais. Ideal location for ww2 sites. Site is opposite the beach crossing a very quiet road. Site was very clean. Showers and toilets spotless with toilet seats and paper! if site was full you may have to wait to use the shower but we didn't have to queue. Facilities for children very good. Goats to feed, ponies to ride bouncy castles and trampolines to bounce on. Site staff were very nice and spoke excellent English.
We had very large pitch with electric.
There is a bar on site which we used once when it was raining. There is a takeaway but we didn't use it. There is some entertainment on the site but we didn't attend any of the activities.
We walked along the beach one evening to the local village.
We would certainly stay at this site again.

We stayed here for three nights due to its easy and quick access from Cherbourg. Lovely site with large pitches and several sanitary blocks. Some pitches have water and drainage on the pitch. Three bouncy castles, Go-Karts (additional small charge) pools, games room, TV room, loads for kids to do. Very pleasant staff. Bar/Cafe and takeaway. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer, to explore the area as this is a great location for Normandy beaches with Utah being on the same stretch of beach. A lovely site and well worth a visit.

We went with friends over the Royal wedding weekend as we had the extra bank holiday, the campsite was lovely, the pitches were a good size as were the showers, they were always clean. The indoor pool was open and if you had kids there were 3 free bouncy castle/slides to use. We cycled to Utah beach to see the memorial, at the moment they are still building a new museum, then we went to St Mere Eglise to the airbourne museum, which was very interesting, it is flat for cycling and all the villages are pretty, it is a lovely area to visit, I just wish we had longer. I would love to go back one day.

We have just had two days here at either end of a holiday further south. This is one of the most relaxing sites I've been on. The staff are very helpful with good English spoken.
The site itself is well kept with lots of shrubs and flowers. The toilet/shower blocks are clean and spacious. The pool looks good although we didn't stay long enough to make use of it.
The site is opposite a pebble covered beach and next door is horse riding. It is 10 mins drive from Utah beach and 20 mins from St mere Eglise (WW II).
We booked a bigger pitch with water and drainage and it was huge!
A great site for a few days stopover or short break but don't think there is enough (other than WWII) for longer.
We wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

Instead of skipping to the bottom of this review I'll say it here at the top, 'Yes I will be returning here again'.
A short drive along the coast brings you to the entrance of this site. Upon booking in at reception we were greeted with a smile and shown a detailed map of the site to where we would be pitched. It had been a long night and a long drive as we entered France via Calais. I think we pitched our Hartford XL in our record time of 20 minuets, minus pegging in the guy lines. Now the search began for the electric. All pitches in our area of the site where hedged in, it turned out the power point was two pitches along, good job I had an extension lead, but the site would have helped us out if it wasn't long enough. Now off the on-site take-a-way for dinner, then to the beach (opposite side of the road to the camp site).
The site facilities where very good, apart from the take-a-way there was a bar, shop, information bureau, bike hire and a lot more. The 3 swimming pools where nice and the different parks around the site kept the kids happy with bouncy castles etc.
A small circus turned up one evening to entertain the kids and adults alike but mainly the kids.
My little one ran over to me asking if he could go into the shed? I didn't have a clue what he was on about and it turned out to be a wooden cabin like a crèche where the kids could paint, draw or make things that was open a few hours a day.
All the extras we found on site made our holiday great and all for no extra cost.
The local area it's self is full of history with the Normandy landings etc. So we was never short of a museum to visit and the local town of Sainte-Mère-Église has a very good museum of the local area.
As I said above, Camping Le Cormoran is definitely on the list of places to return again very soon.

So here goes, late August 2009 for 10 nights, first trip to France camping since I was a child.
We are myself, hubby and 4yr old daughter.
We have an Outwell Montana 6 that we regularly use in the UK.
We pre booked our pitch and paid with camping cheques.
We arrived at site at about 1.30pm,after travelling Dover to Dunkerque, check in was simple, we were given a plan of the site and told to pay sometime before we left.
I was pleased my email request to be near to toilets for our daughter had been acknowledged. Our pitch was plenty big enough for our tent and extension and then at the side we put the car and picnic table etc, all pitches were marked with hedges, some much taller than others. All pitches had electric, we were told this was 10amp by reception however other campers said it was more than that.
The toilet block nearest to us consisted of 5 shower cubicles each containing a hand held shower and separate sink & dressing area. There were 5 toilet cubicles. 4 pot wash sinks and outside(but enclosed) urinals. The same building also had a baby change, children's showers (much larger cubicle but no sink) and a laundry room (washer and dryer - I think total cost to use both was about 10E, although we didn't bother). There were at least 3 if not 4 facility blocks like this across the site. Toilet roll is provided but it is not the nicest I've ever used :-)!
We spent quite a bit of time chilling at the campsite, the pools and facilities for our daughter were fantastic and on the couple of windier days we had where the temperature dropped a little the indoor pool was great. They have 'novelty' bike hire as well as the regular cycles and 2 euro's in an afternoon for my daughter to ride round for an hour on a trike with a horse on the front was well worth it. We went to the entertainment on a couple of occasions - the circus night was great fun and free of charge (until they ask you to pay a euro here and a euro there to win toys / sweets etc. We chose to leave at this point as did many others).
There were bouncy castles on site free of charge and a play ground, trampolines etc.
There was often a crepe van by the entrance at night and on the Sunday there was a rotisserie (very expensive we thought at about 12E for a small chicken, but it did look lovely).
The on site shop had most things you would need, plus the obligatory touristy stuff, and also the most amazing bread and croissants etc in a morning.
We didn't eat out in the evenings, simply because we chose to bbq / eat at the tent, however we did visit the on site bar / ice cream parlour after dinner some evening. Drinking out was expensive 4.50 euro's for a pint of Heinneken, 2.50 euro's for 25 cl, ice cream was 3 euro's for two scoops and extra 1 euro for cream. On our last night we had pizza from the on site take away we paid just over 20 euro's for two pizza's and fries. There was no faulting the quality but without doubt we paid for the convenience of having the take away on site. We did notice that a lot of local residents were parking their car at the site entrance and using the take away as well.
It was fantastic to walk across the road and be on the beach for a walk in the evenings!
There is very little else in walking distance (a couple of restaurants about 20 minutes walk)but after dark the coast road is not well lit.
The staff on site were excellent, very friendly and also enforced the no noise after 11pm rule. We used the WIFI on site and found it great value - especially for keeping an eye on the weather, on line banking etc etc.
It would actually be very hard for me to find fault with Le Cormoran, we had a fantastic time.

Excellent family campsite. Nice and quiet, friendly staff. Good for a week or less stop overs. Toilet blocks were the cleanest we have ever experienced on a campsite - cleaned 3 times a day. Pitch was a good size, recommend a Grand pitch if you have a fairly large tent.
The beach opposite the site is a walking, shell collecting, kite flying type of beach rather than sunbathing and castle building. Just down the road is the Utah Beach Museum which is on an area of the beach better suited to the latter.
Rarely had to queue for a toilet or a shower. Usual problem with the shower cubicles - not enough hooks. Good size cubicles for family showers though.
Had to queue for washing up sinks, they could do with some more.
Lots of 1944 museums in the area to visit.
