Great little place, had a great two days their. Will be going back. The only one thing would be nice if you could fish two rods for £10 or 12 at the moment it is £8 for one, but other than that cant knock it.
The toilet clean and tidy the pitch great loads of room. The people who run it so friendly wish other campsites could be like this.

Stayed at this lovely little site on the bank holiday at the end of may. The weather was fantastic and I was greeted warmly by Karen and tom the owners. Lovely for relaxing in the peace and quiet. Nice pub a few minutes walk which served good food. Fishing on site although I never used it. Clean showers and toilets and all for £11 a night. Will be returning very soon.
They do have a few kids play things although I think a more permanent kids play structure would improve this site especially as we have 2 very young children. The owners re froze my ice blocks and returned them to me the next morning and there is a fridge you can use in the washing up room. Overall superb relaxing break

Perfect for a quiet escape. Friendly owners, massive field with just a few tents on during a hot spell in August!
Looking for a site with a shop, clubhouse, pool, etc - this isn't for you. Looking for a secluded field where the kids can go and explore - this is the place. Close to Southminster and Burnham.
Very clean toilet & shower facilities with lots of hot water.
We will return!

This is a lovely little campsite. As we drove down to the field we were stunned by the beautiful view. The campsite was a very large field, nicely sheltered and surprisingly empty! We had our pick of where to pitch, all seemed nice and flat. The owners were very nice and helpful, We were able to explore the whole farm which was great for our little boy.
Toilet block was lovely and clean, hot water and sufficient number of showers and toilets. I'm not sure if that would have been the case with more campers but perfect whilst we were there. It is a little bit of a walk but it didn't cause us any problems.
We visited Burnham on Crouch And RHS Hyde Hall whilst staying. Both were lovely.
I guess this campsite may be a bit basic for some but that is exactly what we are looking for when camping so for us it was perfect.

We have just returned from a wonderful camping trip with the family, lovely place, very clean and great for little ones, friendly people. Great value for money. Showers are nice. Only one complaint but can't be helped is the toilets, showers and wash room is up a hill a bit away from tents, was still just great. Will defently return very soon

Even though we stayed when it was very wet we had a lovely time. The site is beautiful by fishing lakes and lovely to walk around. The facilities are nice and clean. The campsite is close to Southminster and a short drive to the coast. The owners were very accommodating and friendly and made our stay lovely despite trying conditions.

What a lovely campsite to stay at
We stayed for 5 nights and had a great time visiting local attractions like Colchester zoo and Maldon
As soon as we arrived the 4yr old was off to the little play area leaving us to put the tent up in peace
Unfortunately didn't get a chance to do the on site nature trail due to a downpour, but did get to visit the local pub which was very friendly and served a good selection
Overall amenities were excellent and very clean, and the location was quiet and peaceful apart from one night when a duck decided to perform a solo dawn chorus!
The owners were friendly and very helpful
Loved that fact that there were no hidden extras like tokens needed for showers or per person charges Being from the Scottish Highlands canniness runs deep so it was refreshing to find a site with a basic pitch price that included everything apart from 20p for use of the hairdryer
Will definitely stay again and looking forward to being able to
Only downside was long walk to toilets/showers for a 4yr old and she missed having a beach nearby despite being taken to Southend for the day where she asked 'Where's all the sand gone to?'

We wanted a site with basic facilities and this was just right.
A large field by a fishing lake that you can pitch where you want. Unbelievably cheap at £10 per night. Owners very friendly and helpful.
Toilets and showers were spotless (cleaner than mine at home!). Only down side is that there is a bit of a walk to them, but not too bad.
One of the other reviews said that the washing up area was in the ladies toilets. Unfortunately it is actually in an area separated off from the ladies, so I had to help my wife wash up after all!
Highly recommended.

I would like to say what a fantastic campsite. We stayed for the weekend to see Burnham carnival. The owners where very welcoming they introduced themselves and lets us know all the information we need to know ie where the toilets/running water/waste are. We had the whole campsite to ourselves (very big field) next to the fishing lake, it was perfect. If you can cope without having electricity its a great campsite and we will be going back.

A (not so) little gem.
If you want electric hook ups, club houses, arcades, fish and chips, bars, entertainment and a night club then you may be a little disappointed, however if you want to go to a site, have acres of room around you where the kids can run around all day playing football, cricket, water fights, den building and fishing then you will not be.
Site:
The site consisted of three large fields with two fishing lakes dissecting each.
It is a fairly flat site but each field has a tree boundary and the field that we were in a had a small copse of trees that the kids used as a den.
Owners were extremely friendly and very relaxed. There are some rules such as Dogs do have to be kept on a lead at all time and no smoking near the farm buildings but as this is a working farm you can appreciate this.
Price:
We paid £10 for the pitch (large 6 man tent 2 adults 2 kids) and £1 for the dog so £22 for a two night stay!
Location:
It is a short hop to Southminster and a slightly longer hop to Burnham on Crouch but due to the size of the site it does feel like you are in the middle of nowhere - in a nice way.
Facilities:
Toilets/Showers 2x wc and showers clean and well maintained but consist of two WC’s as a male no problems with queuing however I think the females in our party struggled alittle at times
Chemical toilet Disposal
Three washing up sinks. These are situated in the ladies. The men will see this as plus point but the ladies may not.
Water point
Fridge and Freezer for ice blocks etc
Both the site and facilities were clean and well maintained.
There was one water point for the entire camp.
I originally wanted to say the facilities were basic but thinking about it they are not. We have been to another very popular site which has exactly the same extent of facilities (albeit on a larger scale) and EHU and paid more for one night there than we did for two here.
I am not sure what the long terms plans are for this site, if they keep it low key then what they have is more than adequate, however if the owners plan to expand and hope get it anywhere near to its potential capacity then the facilities would not cope perhaps they could could keep the facilities they have but put the same on each field. A wooden adventure playground for the younger kids would go down a storm and whilst I appreciate that this would raise the cost per night I for one would be prepared to pay more to come here.
Conclusion:
From a purely selfish point of view I was in two minds, do I recommend this site by posting a review for it or keep it a secret…….
I have given this site 10/10 as I did not expect to get what we did for the price we paid.
Everyone raves about the local and indeed it is a nice pretty pub, a very short walk from the site the food was excellent and well priced but if anyone has seen American Werewolf in London I felt like the American walking into that pub!
