We have stayed at Lavender Fields campsite during the Summer. End of July, start of August 2012.
When we got there we were greeted by at least dogs belonging to the owners behind a fence barking. I found that a bit scary but I suppose they have to defend their territory.
The campsite is on a field and a bit isolated, luckily we brought bikes and the car. However the view and quietness is breathtaking.
It is about 5 miles plus to the beach at Gwithian, we cycled once but there were to many hills so we took the car later on. There are no dogs on that beach, if you walk on another couple of miles to Mexico Towans you can take your dog.
The owners were very friendly but a bit forgetful. My mother in law had booked by telephone and had specified one pitch for a camper-van with awning, two adults and dog and one pitch for a tent with another two adults, a child and the car. She was surprised when she was informed half an hour after paying on arrival that apparently the child had been forgotten to be charged for, even though it was on the paperwork? The owner apologized for his mistake and instead of charging for the child gave them half the electricity that was agreed, which worked out about the same.
The same evening she got very upset when the owner came up in the middle of cooking dinner and informed us that they had forgotten to charge for the awning as well (an extra 3. 50 Pound per night).
The pitches are good and electric hook up and water is available on all of them. In the camper they were told which side the door had to face, so my parent in laws door faced the toilets and into the wind.
The toilet hut has 3 toilets for men and 3 toilets for women each. In 2 out of the 3 toilets there are showers (2 for men and 2 for women) but it is a bit difficult to get into them.
There is a gap beside the toilet with a step and me being a size 12 just managed to get through this gap without touching the sides. There is a disabled toilet with shower as well which is probably better accessible for bigger people.
The water was always warm enough to have a shower and the showers were clean. When you get out, there is no mat or anything so you have to step on the floor which is cleaned daily but people have walked on with shoes. When you just need the toilet the floor is often wet from people using the showers.
The facilities are OK, a bit outdated for my standards and there is no hand dryer or towels so you have to bring your own or use toilet paper.
The plus side is a room on the side where you can do the dishes and there is an instant kettle, which is great for people in tends with no hook up. There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer. We did not use those but were told you can for 4 Pound something.
My parents in law have a dog and there is a dog walk, which is more like a fenced off bit for pooing.
There is a chemical disposal point indoors my father in law said that was blocked but we did not use this.
There is enough lighting at night to find your tent but it is not so bright it would disturb you sleeping. I could not see all the ropes at night and stumbled once, my own fault, did not eat my carrots.
One night we had a storm and because the site is quite exposed, I was worried the tend would blow away. It did not but my parent in laws awning had collapsed.
We walked to the pub in Carnhell Green but we were informed that pub had been closed for at least 6 months. There is a brilliant pub in Praze an beeble that serves lovely food and has a nice garden as well. It is only about 3 miles away using the footpaths and bridle ways (wear your wellies as these can get muddy). There is a pub in Barripper which is open at night and at weekends, that is only about 1 mile or so away.
Conclusion? The camp site is OK if you do not want to be close to the beach and you like it quiet. Ideal for older people without kids. If you have kids make sure you have at least two and bring stuff to entertain them otherwise they will be bored.
Would I use this camp site again? For me the answer is no because it is to secluded and to far from the beaches and main towns. Plus if someone quotes me a price they should stick with it. .

Visited this site the week after Easter for the first time and very pleased
Will definitely be going back again
Arrived at approximately 10am to a very warm welcome from Mick who then took us down to the pitch and helped us to get set up,
Water supply is connected directly from tap on pitch and waste water is plumbed straight in to so no need to use waste water butt or fresh water butt,
Beautiful views across the Countryside and very quiet,
Showers very clean and plenty of hot water
Overall the site is very well maintained,
Perfect location to get anywhere in Cornwall

Toilet block needed a make over and update. Good laundry and t/dryer. Everything was extra charged Awning Dog more than 1 car over night visitors. We were offered a pitch that was very exposed and a great view of the countryside to the south overlooking Clowance Estate. It is next to a working stock yard so county smells and baking dogs. Need to use car to go anywhere nothing local. Big unit access not brill narrow lanes. We stayed 3 weeks out of 4 and left for a better winter pitch

Lovely flat site, ground a little hard in places so if like us your in a tent, then make sure you have metal ground pegs as our new 'strong' plastic ones that come with the tent twisted and bent with the hard ground.
Toilet, shower, and pot-wash facilities are adequate with hot water at all times during our visit (a bit of a clean wouldn't go amiss mind). The surrounding area is lovely with a fantastic 4 mile walk to the local stunning beach. Well worth it!
On the downside, we arrived to check out the local area at 9:30am. The manager there was very helpful in pointing us in the direction of local towns so that we could explore the area.
We returned to the campsite at 12:35 hoping that he would be 25 minutes lenient in allowing us to pitch early but advised that the field was still full from last nights campers so we had to wait.
We once again took a local drive around, arriving back at 12:55, and was very obliging in letting us pitch 5 minutes early, doing us a favour. Only to get on the site and we were the only ones there! A little bit of leniency wouldn't go amiss!

Hi there I stayed at this site with my wife and 6 month old baby and my dog turbo. The owners are very friendly and out going and are always willing to help if needed. We had a lovely time there the site is very quite and peaceful.
The site has got a clean toilet block and it has a kitchen area with two sinks tumble dryer washing machine and an instant kettle the toilet block has showers which are behind the toilet the disabled / family room toilet is the largest.
If you have animals it is a great site there is plenty of space on this site. The dog walking area has a bin to put your dog mess in and fence around it recommend to all my camping friends and will go back again thank you for the lovely stay

Mick & Julie are the owners of this site & were very helpful & friendly although not intrusive in any way.
The showers / toilets / kitchen & laundry facilities were cleaned to a very high standard twice daily always plenty of Hot Water available no matter what time of day/night.
The dog recreation area was fenced in & our dog Jake was well at home. NO CHARGE for dogs which is great. Fellow campers had 3 dogs with them.
Pub & local shop approx 15-20 mins walk away A30 approx 1 mile.
Great site will definitely stay again if going to Cornwall.

Very friendly, quiet, clean, dogs friendly site. Will stay again, had a lovely time, so did my dogs. Was near to the beach for me to take my dogs for walk. Breathtaking views from site. Easy to find from the A30, bus stop right out side gates. Close to shops and pubs. Dog walking area and good bridle paths nearby. Owners very helpful, knowledgeable of local areas. Only site that I have stayed on that has a dog washing shower, found that very useful for washing sand from my dogs coats -a very good idea. We will be back.

I had an extended stay at Lavender Fields in 2010 and thoroughly recommend this site for peace & quiet, the fantastic views and the wildlife.
The toilets/shower block and laundry room are kept spotlessly clean by the hard working owners and do everything it says on the tin.
I didn't have a dog but for those that do dogs can stay for free, there is an exercise field on site and plenty of public footpaths close by.
Once again, thanks for making my stay a memorable one and I will visit you again.

We were delighted to find Lavender Fields Touring Park to be a very friendly and peaceful place in which to enjoy our caravan holiday. From the point of arrival we found the owners to be both courteous and helpful. Our caravan pitch enjoyed a panoramic view across the unspoilt Cornish countryside, with distant churches, contented cows and rolling fields a-plenty. The toilet, showering and laundry areas were spotlessly clean and well maintained. We discovered many interesting places not too far from the park, and were pleased to discover that a hourly bus service stopped right outside the entrance on request. This handy service runs from Camborne to Helston, and terminates at a large supermarket. The village of Carnhell Green is only a short walk away and has a village shop/post office and a public house. We can heartily recommend this excellent touring park to any potiental campers/caravaners and in doing so congratulate the owners for providing us with a very happy holiday. Please book with confidence. We wished it was 'Lavender Fields Forever'!

The site is near to Gwithian it is a small site run by a couple with 5 large German Shepherd dogs who do bark when pulls onto the site. The owners are friendly, the site is very basic and the toilet and shower facilities are basic, and you have to squeeze into the toilets. The owner is very hands on. The area is very nice, so you might enjoy staying here. It is exposed and you get crosswinds which makes awnings difficult.
