This is a site of about 45 pitches, roughly half and half hardstanding and grass, all of which are on the small side. There is no windbreak planting between the pitches and this site is exposed.
The toilet block consists of two well used portacabins each housing 3 WC's two of which have showers behind (awkward opening to get into shower). Also a disabled unit, kitchen with two wash up sinks and two washing machines, and a chemical toilet emptying point and dog / wet suit shower.
The chemical toilet emptying point is indoors and spillages are unable to drain away.
This sites saving grace is that it is dog friendly and will accept however many you have.

- its a campsite, in Cornwall! Fact.
Let's not beat around the bush, this is basic camping at an affordable price. Essentially it is a L-shaped field of 45 or so pitches, most appeared to be with electric, none seemed over large to me. Be aware, it is very exposed. If you are given a choice of pitch, think very carefully about where you choose.
It is close to some amazing beaches - two miles or so to Gwithian and a walk toward Hayle for some awesome beaches. Some are dog friendly too. Nice beach cafe on the hill/dunes at Gwithian Towans, I think.
The pub in Carnhell Green (The Pendavers Arms) is great. Lovely food, warm welcome. Trevaskis Farm shop & resturant, about 1.5 miles away, became a sanctuary too. Fantastic local / home grown produce, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit. Many items cheaper tan supermarkets.
Handy base for all West Cornwall's treasures. St Ives, Newquay, Penzance, St Michael's Mount, Truro, Falmouth etc all close by. Morrisons and tesco have medium/large stores in Camborne, about 2 miles away. 24 hour pharacy at Boots near Connor Downs, along with Shell petrol, M&S and Costa Coffee. There's an Aldi and a Lidl close by too.
Now, the site: They have 4 or 5 dogs which often bark but are kept well under control and don't cause any bother.
The amenities facilities have good and bad points. On the positive side, there is an Instant Kettle boiler which was a blessing for quick cuppas. There are two washing up sinks, a washing machine ($3.60 charge I think) and dryer. In a separate room there's a chemi-loo point and dog washing facility but this room seems poorly ventilated and may have had a leak recently.
The toilets and showers need refurbishing to be honest. The building looks fine but once up close it is obvious the loos and showers are portacabins, bolted together and the whole structure (loos / showers, wash room and wet room) have been over-clad with timber slats.
Ladies, my wife suggests that if you are size 16 or over you may struggle trough the narrow gaps into the shower cubicle. Guys, if your beer belly hides your toes, you won't get in either!
The loos/showers are 'cleaned' most days but there was always plenty of loo roll.
There is nothing for kids - no playground. Dogs seem welcome, there is a small exercise field and a poo bin. The field is fenced off but strangely has no gate! The dog field is adjacent to the first 3 or so pitches.
Is it a good location - yes, away from it all but close enough to most things you'll want / need on your holiday. Would I go again? No, sorry. The amenities need some TLC (knocking down if I'm brutal!) and some hedges growing or fences erected to break the breeze.
Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

This is a good well proportioned site well away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to some of the best beaches I've ever seen in Hayle and Gwithiam.
The owner and his wife are really friendly and absolutely dog mad with a brood of 5 german shepards who greet you with a chorus of barks whenever you pass the reception area.
The facilities include a toilet and shower facility which were cleaned everyday however cleaning the showers with the same mops as you've just used to clean the toilet floor is not to my standards. The access to the showers which are situated right behind each toilet is very limited and I found it very difficult showering my 2 young children without getting in the shower with them.
The laundry area was excellent with 2 sinks for washing up, a washing machine and a dryer although a laminated sheet with instructions on how to use the machines would be handy. I do feel if this site is ever fully booked the facilities will not be enough.
It would have been nice to have had a small play area for kids as the only option was for them to play ball around the tent which isn't ideal.
The local pub is pleasant and friendly but isn't open all day so check opening hours before you walk down there as you maybe disappointed, there is a small shop just near the pub but you will need to go into Camborne or Hayle to find a supermarket.
The local pick-your-own farm was absolutely brilliant with a great farm shop selling great produce at a good price and the local Beaches are tremendous with excellent RNLI lifeguards all over the place with flagged areas to show where its safe to swim

Small quiet site in the countryside. Very windy, strong cross wind when weather bad but can imagine would be nice when sunny and calm. Set in flat open country on quiet road. No car noises at all. Close to all major attractions.
Good points: quiet, clean, fairly well priced. Female showers had the most powerful warm blast that really woke you up. Toilets were ok and clean and not busy. Campsite wasn't that busy. Owner helpful. Dog friendly and dogs well behaved and not off leash.
Not so good points: Owner quite hands on so behave! Dogs on site must be behaved and were so great if you are a dog lover. Owner has a bunch of lovely alsation dogs but boy can they bark! Noisy at times when they all set off, some sort of guard dogs.
Cockerel somewhere nearby starts at 4am and a cow moos a lot but this is the country! Was wet and windy so maybe we didn't see the best of it.
Toilets and showers were ok and adequate, awful push taps, but the shower in the disabled was cold and I am semi disabled. Large well equipped disabled toilet though if only the warm water worked on the shower and it didn't seem to drain. If tent is over a 6 man then you pay more for a slightly bigger space.
All in all then a fairly nice camp and no real complaints apart from owners noisy dogs so you need to be a dog lover. Scenery not as stunning as other reviews on this site say, lot of fields really.
Quite small and basic so if you want just a site with the basics at a fairly reasonable site this is for you. It just has shower, toilets, (never had to queue), chemical disposal waste and laundry room.If you want a larger, more impersonal, luxurious, amenities sort of site this wouldn't suit.
The owner was quite friendly and wandered around the site a lot which I found off putting but I suppose he likes to keep an eye on things. We have three kids and a dog and they seemed to enjoy though weather bad, but that's not the campsites fault.

We stayed here to visit family , It was the only campsite willing to take us and a dog and a possible late entry. Just like the other comments yes the toilets could do with being replaced, but when we were there they were spotless to use, although a little small for my big bum Camp site was well lit with solar lights and the water and power points were great. The only really down point was when we stayed there was a very and I mean very strong north wind and where we were was a little bit exposed as the site is on top of the area, but apart from that we liked it and definitely go back to it

We were at Lavender Fields for a long weekend in March and we were 1 of 2 touring caravans on the site for the whole 4 days.
I would estimate that the sites pitches are 1/2 hardstanding and 1/2 grass. Hardstanding pitches are ok but a little close together and the grass pitches seemed to be quite small compared to other sites we have used so if you have a large tent you may expect to have to pay for 2.
Waterpoints are quite adequate although they are push timer taps which I hate. There are also a good number of fire extinguishers throughout the site.We were dissappointed with the toilet/shower facilities as these are temporary portakabins with a wooden shack built around them. There are only 3 gents and 3 ladies toilets. 2 of each also have a shower behind them. Therefore with a full site of 45 pitches I think these facilities are inadequate but the owners do recognise this and plan to address it.
There is also a lack of lighting throughout the site and while the toilet facility is lit at night I would not feel comfortable walking some distance in the dark ( and it is dark) to the toilet block.
The site does provide good access to facilities with Camborne only 4 miles down the road and beach facilities roughly a 10 minute drive away.

Firstly I would like to publicly apologise to anyone who was staying in this campsite in the last week of August for my teething baby who screamed throughout the night!
Other than being sleep deprived it was a great holiday. The campsite was quiet (until we arrived!) away from the road which was quiet anyway. The toilets and showers were good. But not sure how they will stand up to full capacity. There was only 1 washing up sink and only 1 washing machine that was out of order. It could really do with a drier too (considering the weather!) There were no freezer pack facilities.
There is a Tesco in Cambourne which is right out of the campsite but we found the most fantastic farm shop if you turn left out the site and head towards Gwithian beach. Trevaskis Farm is open 8 - 8 and sells fresh and local produce at prices which are often cheaper than supermarkets - Superb.

This is a lovely site with views all over the Cornish countryside and well situated for West Cornwall and its attractions.
The pitches are average sized, flat and well drained.Be aware however if you have one of the large xxl tents you will be charged for 2 pitches. All pitches have EHU.
The lady owner is lovely friendly and helpful, but we found her husband to be less so and quite abrupt in his manner, which was a little off putting to fairly inexperienced campers such as us!
The toilet block is a wooden construction, with 2 female showers and 1 single toilet and same for the men.
The toilets were cleaned daily, and the showers were reasonably clean on the whole, my husband and sons always had hot showers, but my daughter and I often found the ladies to be luke warm.
There definitely needs to be more hooks to hang clothes etc.
During our stay the washing machine was out of order as was the hot water geezer in the kitchen area,so we either had to get hot water from the toilet sink or boil the kettle to wash up,either way it was not a huge problem.Though we did hear other campers moaning!
The site is quiet on the whole, and there are no play areas for children, however there is plenty of room for gentle ball games not cricket or football!
Gwithian beach nearby is spectacular and there is plenty to occupy time in the surrounding areas.
The supermarket is a short drive away and there is a lovely big M&S nearby for the occasional foody treat!
We would recommend this site to those who want a quiet affordable campsite, but are prepared to do a fair bit of driving here and there.

Great from the campsite to the very helpful staff!
The campsite was in such a great place just down the road from gwithian beach which was stunning even in all the rain yes 5 days of it! that said the campsite was great no floods no floating ground sheets. The dogs were great like any dogs just wanted to know what was going on. I have recommended this campsite to many. One, yes only one, thing that we would change and that would be a proper toilet shower block the site had the portable but static in a special barn that said they were always clean and much cleaner than most campsites that have purpose built blocks. Do not miss the local pub just left out of the campsite amazing go for the small portion it was huge there is a little local shop here too which stocks basics but as usual big supermarkets near by Sorry to go on but we will be returning ! And a bargain at half the price of other cornwall sites !

Arrived on site early in the day, and was greeted by a chirpy owner and shown to our generously sized pitch.
Was impressed by the size and layout of the site, with some good views, even neighbouring campers are not that close.
The toilets and showers were nice and clean, although some more hooks to hang things on would be good. Maybe another sink to wash up in would save on queuing at meal times.
The site is well situated away from the road and is extremely quiet at night.
Access for attractions is good too, with only a short drive to get to any destination.
Not sure if there are any plans for a kid's playground, so ensure you take things to keep them busy.
On the whole, a very pleasant site, and I look forward to returning next year.
