This was a spur of the moment camping trip to North Devon. This was a very cold day / evening except we were toasty warm in our tent with electric hook up and heater. This site is located in easy reach of Combe Martin, Lynton / Lynmouth & Woolacombe. THis site is on a working farm and has a very rural free feel. The owners are very relaxed and friendly and weren't in a panic to get my money - didn't need to pay until next day.
This site is very basic. The shower blocks are very industrial as in concrete floors and no heating that I was aware of. I am careful in making too many criticisms of this site because you have to remember we were there in the thick of winter (minus 5 on the night we stayed). Had I been there in warmer months would have found the idea of using the shower blocks more inviting. There are lots of taps on site - these weren't working, not the owners fault, it was -5 !
There were only about 6 hook ups that we could count and most of them were located at the top of the hill by the road. Wasn't a problem this time of year but I know myself that that road is rather busy in the summer, having said that if I was there in summer I wouldn't have wanted the hook up.
The owners here are very approachable and friendly. As I mentioned before the taps were frozen up but owner happily filled out bottles for us from his kitchen taps. Also had the opportunity of meeting multiple friendly dogs! Personally I would usually prefer slightly more modern facilities (although not a Butlins or Haven site!).
In summary a nice campsite but I feel it could do with a few subtle modernisations just to improve the overall experience. New shower blocks and a few more hook ups and this site could be truly awesome.

Myself and my family have just returned from a fantastic camping break to North Devon. I used to Holiday in Devon as a child and I’d forgotten how beautiful it was.
We camped at Brinscott Farm and had few complaints about the experience. Saying that, if you like luxury then this is not the place for you but at £10 a night you cant expect it.
Despite being basic I had no problem with the facilities. There are 2 unisex shower & toilet blocks and despite both of them looking a bit ‘rustic’, they were both clean and functional. Other than a water tap, bins and a few electrical hook ups, that was all the facilities there were. No shop or childrens area etc but that suited us fine.
In terms of other campers, Brinscott farm is a very quiet site. We went in the first week of the school holidays at the end of July and my family group (consisting of 3 tents and a camper van) had the entire 1st field to ourselves for most of our stay and from that field we had stunning views over the rolling Devon countryside. The field itself was nice and flat, very well drained and had grass perfect for a game of cricket and football etc.
There are a couple of negative issues with this campsite. We did not realise quite how busy the road that runs past the campsite was going to be. It turned out to be one of the main roads to Woolacombe so it is quite fast and fairly busy. You get used to the noise from it and it certainly did not spoil the holiday but we would not normally book a site with such a noisy road close by.
The second noise issue was the farm cockerels. They wake up very early and make a hell of a lot of noise!
I guess that’s the price you pay from camping on a working farm. The good news is that they rome around the farm so they didn’t wake us up every morning and earplugs work to cut out a lot of the noise.
In conclusion Brinscott farm is a very basic but very nice site that is cheap and well located for exploring the local area. The farmer is very friendly and chatty and seemed to have an uncanny ability to know what the weather was going to do minute by minute! I would have no problem going back to Brinscott again.

This is more of a CL really. About 8 pitches with electric hook up and innumerable others without - depending on how much grass the farmer mows back!
We stayed during half term week - pretty wet and windy for much of the time. The part of the field we were in was very well drained, not at all muddy and even on the wettest days I walked to the loo block in my flip flops!
Quite tricky to find without instructions (If you're arriving from Ilfracombe side go right through Combe Martin, past Dinosaur Wildlife Park and turn right signposted Woolacombe - it's about a mile or two along that road on the left.)
Lovely rural location with hens and chicks pecking about and a field of cows next door and centrally situated for any of the popular beaches etc in this area.
Site was practically empty over whitsun week (which was a disappointment for our little boy who didn't find any friends to play with)as I don't think the site has enough publicity!
Toilet blocks adequate - (not sure how often they are cleaned but as we were virtually the only campers there this wasn't a problem that week.)
We had a lovely week as loads to do round this area and site is reasonably priced and the farmer friendly and helpful.

Quite a nice site, new toilet/shower block better than single one where chickens frequent. The storms put our camping to an abrupt end, but Steve was very friendly and helpful. He's even got a store of kids bikes that they can use. The only thing that I could fault was their own two german shepherd dogs using the camping field as a toilet, which didn't get cleaned up, even when right outside the toilet door. The old Station pub about 2 miles away does a fantastic carvery, as well as other extensive menu, and is very children friendly.

Have just had the best week's camping that I and my family have experienced in five years of camping and felt compelled to write the following. Brinscott Farm campsite is without doubt one of the most tranquil campsites I have ever visted. Unlike the "mega" camp sites around this part of North Devon that treat you like a walking wallet, Brinscott Farm is a peaceful site in beautiful surroundings. Located about three miles from the picturesque cove of Coombe Martin, it is ideally situated with good road links to Woolacombe Beech, Ilfracombe and within easy drive of Barnstaple and Exmoor. My family stayed for a week, and communications with the owner, Steve Brinscott were brilliant before, during and after our stay. The guy really couldn't have been more helpful, and our holiday was made more enjoyable from his advice on where to go and what to do. The main site is made up of two main camping areas, a field of 3 acres and a larger one siting mobile homes and caravans. With beautiful views over the adjoining countryside and a family atmosphere, Brinscott Farm provided us with with the most relaxing camping experience I could have wished for. Okay, there are no big screens, children's entertainers, big pool and sauna - instead, we experienced camping on a working farm, with chickens roaming the yard, and friendly fellow campers who joined us, in playing games with the children and enjoying camping as it should be. The site has a number of electrical hookups and reasonable showers / washing facilities that we never had to wait for (good ratio) and I think more are planned for next season. Located "on the plateau" the site would be an ideal location for walking on the many public footpaths in the area. We drove down the hill to Combe Martin for our daily groceries (Maddies Store on the right going down into Combe Martin) and a bakery opposite. Tesco has a store in Ilfracombe and petrol was available at the garage three quarters of a mile from the site. Will definitely visit Brinscott Farm again, and would recommend it to anyone camping in North Devon. The rates were very reasonable, and the experience simply brilliant.
