This isn't like a campsite, it's like staying with friends. I can't say anything bad, very clean (spotless)nice level pitch with manicured lawn and well trimmed hedges (the best we have seen) lots of fruit trees, overdosed on cherries during our stay which was longer than we planned as it is so peaceful, walked through the local village in the evening and there are hardly any cars on the road. Short drive to the local market town. I am sure that we must have been blessed to find this little site. It was a shame to leave.
Every thing you could want if you are looking for peace and quiet but still within a short drive of lots of things to do.

A very hospital welcome from the camp site owners. I am tempted to keep this site a secret so it does not become overbooked!
The site has excellent wash facilities and simple flat camp ground easy to gain access to.
Limited to only five places it is as well to book in advance as once more and more people find this site it will be well and truly over subscribed. An ideal stop over on that long journey south.

Ian and Helen have only owned this site for 11 weeks and it is the friendliest and cleanest site I have ever visited. It is small and but has everything you need: loo paper, soap, towel, washing up liquid. The bathroom was of hotel standard. Also reasonable priced.
The web site says that a baker visits 3 times a week, but as he wasn't going to arrive until to late for us, Ian and Helen brought what we needed from the local supermarket so we had them when we arrived. They also provided ice and a bucket to chill our wine! After a bed disaster, the owner was more than willing to help fix it.
Highly recommend visiting this site

I discovered this site while searching the internet. I was looking for something small, quiet, relaxing but within an easy drive of the Channel Ports. I don't think I could have found a better site.
The facilities on site were well kept, clean and in good repair. Steve and Tracey were great hosts, very helpful and always willing to give advice and assistance.
The site itself is spacious and well tended with ample fruit trees, and hedging. Power hook ups are available although I didn't use these myself.
I can thoroughly recommend this site, and I'm already looking forward to planning next years trip.

We are fortunate enough to be regular visitors to this wonderful site as we store our caravan there throughout the year.
The English owners, Tracey and Steve, are always on hand to provide a warm welcome and a helping hand if needed. Their knowledge of the surrounding area and and, in particular, Tracey's fluent French, is a godsend to UK visitors to this area for the first time.
The camping field or 'orchard; takes a maximum of 5 tents/caravans so there is always plenty of room to spread out without inconveniencing others. Each pitch has its own power outlet and there two water taps within easy reach. The campers shower room is clean and spacious with ample hot water at all times. There is a second, separate, toilet for busy times. Steve opens the above-ground pool during the high season and there is a sitting area as well as a boules pitch and darts for the slightly more energetic.
For families the main attraction is likely to be Futuroscope (about 40 mins) but there are many delightful towns and villages to explore with La Rochelle on the coast only an hour or so away. About 10 mins takes you to the nearest small town Lezay where there is a weekly market and an Intermarche.
If you want night life, bars and other attractions then don't go to Grande Vigne. However if, like us, you appreciate the sort of quiet, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that rural France is renowned for, then give Tracey and Steve a call.
Happy camping!

Great to return and see the alterations, the site is looking excellent. The additions to the facilities and additional water point as well as the new power stands and lighting have made the site even more user friendly. As usual the Grande Vigne welcome made us feel at home and the entertainment was first rate apart from some dodgy of snooker rules in the quiz. We are all looking forward to visiting again. Steve and Tracey have become very knowledgeable about the area and were very helpful with route planning and suggestions.

We chose La Grande Vigne as an overnight stop between Brittany and Gers. We arrived during a damp, cold spell, and not long after we pitched our tent the heavens opened and we were lashed with rain throughout the night! Hence we didn't get a chance to explore the local area, or use the pool which would have been most welcome on a sunny day!
Unfortunately the corner of the field immediately behind the swimming pool where we chose to pitch (which Steve and Tracey told us nobody had used before!) was rather stoney, which made it difficult to hammer the tent pegs in.
Toilet and washing facilities were very clean, with a spacious bathroom with toilet and a separate outdoor toilet. Toilet paper provided, which was great after staying on a french campsite and having to remember to take it with you!
Steve and Tracey were very welcoming hosts, and it was lovely to hear about their 4 years as campsite owners and the improvements they've made to their gorgeous house. There were gites to rent also.
I had enquired about the campsite at the last minute, and didn't leave myself with enough time to receive the driving directions. However, if you have sat nav, follow the GPS coordinates which are provided on the website. They took us right to the gate!
We would definitely use this campsite again, hopefully with better weather next time!

Just returned from a lovely relaxing break at Grande Vigne and have booked a return visit next year already! The campsite is very well maintained, lovely large pitches and the toilets / shower were immaculate. We had considerable difficulty dragging our 10 year old out of the pool but luckily there was a boules area to distract him.
Lots to do locally,Valle de Signe is an amazing monkey park (they roam free - no cages) and Futuroscope is well worth a visit. It was our first venture with our caravan to France so we were a bit apprehensive but needn't have worried.
The owners, Tracey & Steve, were very helpful, roll on next year.

This is a great little site. Steve and Tracey have worked hard to get it to a very high standard. The toilets and the shower are exellent, always clean and tidy. There is a washing machine and a drying area, The pool and the pool area is a great place to sit in the sun and relax. We had the odd game of darts and threw a few silver balls in the sand in between taking dips in the plunge pool. Steve keeps the pool and the pool area very clean.
It is reasonably priced and well kept and you always get a warm welcome.

We arrived at La Grande Vigne late at night, so did not see the owners until the morning. What a lovely welcome we got from them when they came to see us. Tracey and Steve are an English couple and make you feel extremely welcome. This lovely campsite is set in rural France and has everything you could want. Lovely mown area for the campers, electric hook-up and water point. There is a shower/toilet, which is very clean, with plenty of space in the shower area. Also a swimming pool, which is very appealing on a hot summers day. The local supermarket can be found just a short drive away. This is a very well run and clean campsite with a very relaxed feeling. We would thoroughly recommend it for a visit and will certainly go back again.
