Though late in the season the weather was extremely kind and a lot warmer than the UK, the days cloudless and the nights a bit chilly, but what a time to explore the surrounding areas.
Cognac where we had a personal guide around the distillery, La Rochelle, Saintes, Oradour, all within a days drive and without the crowds of summer.
Steve and Tracey were very welcoming from the arrival, no problem too small, the site, as described in the website, was peaceful and relaxing, the night skies are something to be believed- we even saw a shooting star.
I would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone looking to unwind, plus there are many places of interest to visit in the near vicinity .
Constructive criticism would be the choice of seaport one should use. We drove down in the day from Dunkerque taking 9 hours on a mixture of N roads and motorway. From this port the site location is realistically on the fringe a days drive without a stopover. We did it and will do it again in the near future.

We have just come back from this site. As already mentioned Steve & Tracey make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive, nothing is too much trouble. The campsite is very spacious and the shower and toilet are very clean and again spacious.
We only went to La Rochelle when we were there. We had intentions of doing more, but to be honest we felt so much at home we just lounged around the pool area, played boules and enjoyed the sun
I would highly recommend anyone to go there.

We set off for La Grande Vigne from a sardine packed campsite on the coast - the drive through the country roads with fields of wheat and sunflowers was typical of the French countryside and through quaint little villages was so much more pleasurable compared to the motorways.
What a fantastic surprise to arrive and see such spacious pitches. We were welcomed by our friendly hosts (Steve and Tracey who are an English couple) and offered a choice of pitch, shown the various facilities and given all the bits of information we needed. This really is a great place for peace and rest but still close enough to some small towns with restaurants etc. We ended up eating at Les Trois Pigeons in Chenay which we would also thoroughly recommend - not the cheapest restaurant but food is prepared by a chef rather than just a cook! There are cheaper good restaurants nearer to the campsite which we hope to try in the next week on our return.
Steve and Tracey went out of their way for us and we would highly recommend a stay with them. The toilet / shower facilities were clean and spacious. The site had electric hookup, water and trees for shade. They also have a swimming pool, covered motorhome and caravan storage facilities and 2 gites which we viewed and were impressed.
If you want a relaxed stay in the French countryside then you should definitely give them a try.

We have recently returned from a week @ Grande-Vigne.
It doesn,t get more peaceful and relaxing anywhere else.
Lovely rural location.
Very friendly and helpful english owners.
Would recommend to anyone who appreciates idylic rural France and in need of rest and re-cooperation.
Good facilities including swimming pool, shower/toilet block and storage.
Caravans pitched in orchard surrounded by nature.
Relatively easy to reach by road/rail/air.
Can,t wait to return next year.
Loads of places to visit.
Transport is necessary, nearest shops/town. 10min drive away
