Arrived on site expecting too much perhaps. Tiny little spaces for tourers etc, and had to park motorhome at a funny angle just to get it parked. Facilities very dated, and we had a large shed/building close to us (in owners garden I think), and there was a Rock Group practising in there - very loud, but very poor!

Then Bonfire night - the owners set off their fireworks right next to our van, in the garden where the wannabe rockers practised, and the next morning expended and used fireworks all around us! Dire site and deeply unhappy with fireworks part of it.

Avoiding this site is a definite action for us in the future.

We arrived late on the Friday evening, called the site manager Adam as he was not there when we arrived, told us where to park and we were able to pitch tent wherever we wanted too within the tent area.

Adam popped by to make sure we were alright, the tent area is lovely. Kids were able to play on tree swings and run about during the day, shower and bathroom facilities are basic but clean. There is a bench area where you can sit and have lunch.

Adam popped back to make sure that we were fine and is always happy to help when needed. We will use the site again in the future.

Stayed for 1 night at this campsite, nice little place and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Being able to use a fire pit is always a bonus and the toilets/showers were pretty good to,

My only negatives are that it's quite expensive at £10 per head for just a basic pitch and they don't allow dogs, if it weren't for these 2 things we'd be back a lot more often.

This site is not really suitable for larger vehicles, although there was a long caravan at the end - I'd have liked to see them get it in! Very narrow and tight turn into it. Sloping, so even with our blocks, still not level. More suitable for tents, plenty of space for them.

Toilet block - ladies was fine, but hubby refused to wash in the gents, very unlike him! - it was awash with mud. The block is down some steps which were very muddy - would have been helpful if there had been a mat inside the block as well as outside!

Owner very pleasant.

Nearest pub the White Swan, under a mile, does good value meals and real ale.

£20 for one night. Been on better sites that were cheaper.

Called here again this season and prices have gone up considerably

Its now £10 per person per night, so too much for our family of four. Wouldn't mind if there were a lot of facilities but there isn't.

Bit disappointed again this visit. Ladies toilets weren't cleaned from Friday when we arrived and the bin was overflowing when we left Sunday

Also the 1 sink in the washing up area wasn't kept too clean. Seems totally left to campers and not everyone cleans the same, and owner removed the bin from pot area

Sorry disappointed this time

 Just revisited this site.

There has been an improvement in the toilets, with new electric hand dryer and felt warmer in building.

Still as peaceful and lovely setting. Adam, the owner is friendly and helpful.

Nice pubs in walking distance, turning right out of site, following River Tyne.

Historical cottage where George Stephenson, famous railway engineer, was born 1781, nice to see. That's about a mile away in Wylam, turning left out of site.

Beautiful countryside all around.

We will be back soon

 Just visited this pleasant campsite.

Small campsite, with plenty of tent space on 2 areas and 5 hardstanding spaces with a tight turn into them.

2 Motorhomes really struggled.

You cannot park your car next to your tent, but our car was only yards away from the tent on a parking area.

So peaceful it was a pleasure just to sit.

Loved the setting, and all the trees, which would have made it sheltered if it had been windy, but it wasn't during our visit.

Adam, I presume the owner helpful and sociable.

There are 2 Ladies toilets and a large shower, not sure of the Gents.

There is also a wooden building, (not sure what its for, or if its used ) but outside there are tables and a veranda. During our visit a few campers ate their own food there. This is also where the 1 sink is for dish washing.

Now for the negatives, mainly in the toilet area.

I think a little bit more cleaning is needed. The shower has black mould in it, which would just take a little bleach. I didn't use it. The shower is large, plenty of space, but some sort of shower mat would be nice to stand on, as mud was being brought in from the wet field. No door mat as you came in main door and again mud being brought in, which of course couldn't be helped, but they only appeared to be cleaned once a day.

Cobwebs around the ceiling could be cleaned although the rafters are high, but it would look better. Also there is nothing to dry your hands on so you need to take a towel.

There is no play area for children.

But its a lovely peaceful site and we would return and hopefully the toilet area has improved.

Wow, what a lovely site, and only 40 minutes from home.

We arrived, and straight away what a welcome site. We registered within a few minutes, and were told where we could pitch, which at the time was anywhere on the main tent field, which is enclosed with flat, level grass on the whole area.

The toilet block is just a few steps away from the tent area, for the gents, there is 1 urinal, toilet, sink & shower, even though the site got quite busy, there was never a queue for these. Sorry can't comment about the ladies, but they have been covered in previous reviews.

Next to the tent field you have about 5 hard stands with electric hook ups, and behind that another smaller tent field. Up the road, there are static vans.

The owner is fine with bar-b-ques as long as they are off the ground, and during our stay was around checking the bins several times. The wash up sink got a little busy at times, such as breakfast or other meal times, but all you do is wait or put off the washing up either way not a hardship really. There are no strict regulations as on other sites as to the distanct between tents, so small groups would be able to pitch neat to each other. There is a small londis shop in the village, which on a sunday does not open till 9am, and your only a 3 minute drive from the co-op. Over all a great site, and I'm already booking to go back in a few weeks, this is ideal to go to straight from work on a friday and spending the weekend there.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at this camp site. The facilities are clean and tidy and the ground is flat. It is very quiet and the owner was really helpful. For a getaway I couldn't recommend this more.

It was the second time that I have been here. The facilities have been well documented in other reviews. It was very quiet whilst I was there and this suited me.

There are excellent walks around the area. I would suggest the mile and half uphill walk through Horsley wood to Horsley (Great pub, Lion and Lamb) the views to Newcastle and Wylam are stunning. I shall certainly return again.
