This a superb site set in lovely woodland. Pitches are hardstanding and we were on a great pitch. Great site for dog walking. A local pub within a few minutes walk serving great food. Wardens really helpful. Showers /toilet block really clean. This site is great for relaxing. You do need your car for visiting places as no bus stop nearby. All in all would highly recommend

If you ever want to replicate a French campsite, this is it, laid back well set out pitches, easy access to Guestling wood and the beaches along to Winchelsea, an absolute laid back chill out site. This site doesn't accept tents and this review site doesn't acknowledge folding campers in their drop down menu very poor indeed!

Have just returned from a visit to this site and although quiet and a pleasant area, getting your caravan in one of the pitches can be a huge problem. The pitch sizes are very limited with 'just' enough room for your car, caravan and awning and no room what so ever to reverse Into the spaces, definitely a site you really need a mover on.
The showers and toilets were very clean and staff very friendly but the washing up room was crawling with big spiders and being someone who is terrified of spiders this was not a welcome sight!
Staff are incredibly friendly and very keen to help.

This is a pleasant little site in woodland, with bluebells still in flower when we stayed. The pitches are all hardstanding (gravelled) and of varying sizes. Most are level but a few (including ours) had quite a slope from front to back, so chocks are needed.
As there are a lot of tall trees, there aren't many pitches in full sun, and when it rains the water dripping from the trees onto the roof of the caravan can be quite loud! However we were lucky enough to get TV reception using our satellite dish. Mobile phone reception is also patchy.
The toilet facilities are excellent, and it seems a very dog-friendly site - there is even a doggy shower! Because of the size and layout, there isn't much room for children to play, so this may be a site better suited to adults. It was lovely and peaceful during our stay.
There are loads of interesting places to visit nearby, especially if you are interested in gardens or have National Trust membership. We enjoyed Scotney Castle and Sissinghurst, and hope to visit Pashley Manor and Great Dixter next time.

Some sites make me itch to write about them while I am still there, this is usually because it was either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. I am glad to write this review in favour of Fairlight Wood, I do believe I have found my favourite Caravan Club Site. My eight year old daughter and I arrived after a long journey from Normandy, the last few miles of which were along a very narrow lane, so be warned you caravan towers (there are other ways to it though)- we were welcomed by the friendly wardens whom really need to be mentioned. I am a sensitive soul and it is the site owners that usually affect me most, this couple really made me feel welcome, they were relaxed, warm and friendly and not often does my daughter make her own way from the pitch to the ice-cream freezer, so they made an impression on her too!
We settled into our pitch and went off for a walk. The area is quintessentially Sussex - rural, quiet, natural and friendly. As it's name suggests, the site is located in a woodland, which offer some lovely walks, a particular favourite of mine is the ten minute walk/cycle through the woods to the Two Sawyers, a lovely country pub, serving good food and beer. You can walk to the beach if you feel so inclined, or a day in Hastings. For the kids.
The toilet/shower facilities were faultless, I wonder if previous reviews were based on different wardens. They were clean, warm and functional, as were the two washing up sinks, which I never had to wait for. They have recycling, wi-fi and a very useful leaflet room where you can find out what else there is to do in the area. I'd simply recommend a long weekend, walking, relaxing, popping over to Dungeness, Rye, Camber Sands and drinking/eating in the fantastic pubs which you really have to ask the locals to find. I'll definitely be going back here sometime!

Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

Peaceful, well set out site with plenty of room for our motorhome. We found the warden friendly and helpful especially as this was our first ever time in a motor home. She loaned us a hose which we didn't have and gave advice or showed us how to manage things.
The toilets and washing facilities are pleasant and very clean and warm. Useful information readily available. It is only a short walk to bus stop for Hastings which is a 20 minute journey. We didn't use local shops but they looked as if they would cover all essentials for eating indoors. We also didn't eat in the pubs but found them easily.
Unfortunately the weather was dire for our short stay but we will visit again for a longer stay. The site restrictions re children and one way systems are sensible and allow the place to remain quiet and peaceful for those like us who only wanted a restful time away.

Have just left this site after three lovely days, very quiet, which is just what we wanted for a break away. Very small site with 42 pitches I think, showers clean and very warm, nice walk to local pubs through the woods. A few nice places to walk the dogs.
We probably wouldn't of used this site when our son used to come with us as there isn't really anywhere for children to play, but if you are looking for a site that's is peaceful and also a good base to explore from this is it, not far away from rye and Hastings, and an hour or so away from Brighton.
The wardens were friendly which is always nice to see.
Only downsides are, there are no road signs saying there is a caravan site anywhere, so a map or sat nav is a must and the road is a bit narrow and can be a bit tight if another caravan or motor home is coming the other way, this is probably why they like you to arrive and leave on time to avoid this happening,
Also tv reception is bad due to the trees, but can be overcome as they have ariel point on the Ehu posts, if you don't have a lead you can purchase from the office,
Some of the pitches are quite small, however none of these detract from a pretty well kept and well maintained site, will definitely be coming back again soon.

The best thing about this campsite is the pub - 15 minutes walk through the woods. The owners of the site have even put white markers on the trees to guide you along the path. The toilet block is fabulously clean and the site is in tip top condition. Our only gripe would be that our pitch was shoved away in a small corner (there should be 2 pitches there, not 3), but as we were only staying for one night this wasn't a problem. The owners are very strict about departure time, but this is because of the narrow road and they like to keep arrivals and departures separate - however a few signs and instructions would be simple to avoid this as the road is a bit like a crescent and so can be approached from either direction. The pub had amazing food and the staff were very friendly. Nothing to do for families, but if you want peace and quiet then this is the site for you. Oh - and there is a TV point as well as a water tap by the electrics - a necessity for this site because you're unlikely to point your satellite dish through a gap in the trees.

PROS: 1) Attractive sylvan setting and electrical hook-ups. 2) Good motorhome service point
CONS: 1) Shower block had drainage problem causing foul smell. Wardens tried to mitigate this by leaving all windows open at night attracting some truly Jurassic biting insects in from the surrounding woodland. Flyscreens were poorly fitted and hopelessly inadequate with gaps everywhere. Individual showers poorly designed with wide communal gulley - pick the shower nearest the entrance to avoid other people's waste water. Some toilets had run out of loo roll indicating poor maintenance by wardens.
2)Approach road narrow, fairly steep and winding with passing places unhelpfully blocked by parked cars. Wardens try to mitigate obvious potential problems by making strict rule that pitches are vacated before 12:00 to avoid snarl ups. Potential nightmare if towing a caravan I should think.
3)All recommended pubs close to site were fully booked when we arrived, so we ate in.
SUMMARY: Overpriced at £29 a night and very disappointing.

Access to site: narrow road, be warned!
Route prior to this ok.
Small site with what felt like to us, small pitches. ! All hardstanding.
Dog walk from site in corner into woods which leads to a field right next to the village pub.
Did not eat there, but had a quiet drink in the garden.
Site facilities up to their usual standard.
Nice to have greenery around the site but, stinging nettles on and around our pitch??. Come on sort this out! That was our main niggle.
Woods opposite great for walking too. Local shop not overly stocked but has post office. Butchers down road other way. Plenty of walking from site.
Pett Level by car 5 mins. Lovely, views and peace and quiet.
A visit to Dungeness is a must!
