Having read the previous reviews and having just spent a week here we have mixed feelings about this site.
Our first sentence has to be, thanks to the wardens this is not a site for children. If you are going here and have children, as we do, beware.
Yes the site is lovely and the facilities are up to the usual club standards, the nearby pub serves excellent food at a reasonable price (marginally cheaper than the nearby Beefeater!) and the nearby butchers has some lovely sausages which produce absolutely no fat when being cooked!
Unfortunately, the wardens made this visit less pleasurable. We have two sons, 10 and 6, we knew that the site didn't have a play area but that didn't bother us as we intended to spend plenty of time out and about. When we arrived the wardens explained the rules about bikes and no ball games, however, we didn't expect them to be so strict about them. Children weren't allowed to ride above walking pace and wo betide them if they did, not only were the children told off but so were the parents. Ours weren't the only children on site and we weren't the only parents to be told off. Similar action was also carried out for children playing with a ball alongside their own caravan.
We later found out from another club site that the bike rules apply at all club sites now due to a fatal accident in 2009 so we can appreciate why this has been done but to be so strict over it is OTT especially where children are concerned.
Children are not allowed to go to the toilet block without an adult, neither are they allowed to go to the information area on their own, oh, don't let them walk your dog on their own either!
We found out that although dogs are tolerated there isn't an official dog walking area and warnings were also issued for walking dogs anywhere that they shouldn't be!
Thankfully there is an excellent country park across the road from the main entrance where the kids could ride their bikes and the dogs could also play happily.
Finally, we purchased an aerial lead for our TV from the office, we still couldn't get any signal, we were less than impressed when the warden informed us that he knew the aerial point on our bollard was defective. He knew our bollard was defective yet was happy to sell us the lead!
As we said, we liked the site, however, the wardens made this stay less than enjoyable.

Fantastic site with excellent toilet facilities. Dog hose near to as well. You will need a tv cable extension to plug into the mains tower as it is poor reception, unless you have a dish
Good sized pitches most hard standing, a few in secluded areas, nice if you want to be out of the main area.
There is no childrens play area and as per club rules they have to be supervised, the few that were there were very well behaved and it was a pleasure to see this.
No dog walk on site but our's loved the woods and enjoyed going to the country park area oh! To run and roam.
The wardens were excellent; however they had only just taken over at the beginning of the season and getting feet under the table.
Hastings is not to far away and nearly equidistant the other way to rye and winchelsea and romney marsh.
The village butcher is great with his pork excellent and tasty, he also does bread and milk. There is a newsagent’s come village shop if you turn left out of the lane but it is a bit of a good walk.
If you want London restaurant quality but low prices go to the two sawyers you will need to book it is so popular
Take care going down the lane towing it is very tight and there are negligible passing points.

A lovely wooded campsite on the outskirts of Hastings.
The toilet and disabled facilities are spot on and cleanliness is paramount.
The wardens were very helpful.Whilst the site may not be very child friendly it is a bonus for some people who like a bit of peace and quiet, which is part of the charm of this site.
When catering you MUST pay a visit to the local butcher whose meat quality and home made goods are unsurpassed.
Not too far from Hastings town centre, castle and seashore, there are other attractions around.About a half hour drive away there is the bluebell railway. There is also a wildfowl centre nearby, where you can spend hours walking and watching birds for free.
One of the best campsites I have visited, well upto and above the usual high standard of any caravan club site.

Excellent caravan club site, shower block spotless and well heated, hairdryer in excellent working order
Lovely local walks with the dog, staff the best I've met, friendly, helpful and cheerful. Have visited this site many times and will not doubt return. The best site I have ever used
Nearby beaches which are clean and very photogenic. Nearby rye is worth a visit a lovely one of a kind town.

What has been said previously is all true.I would like to add that it is excellent for dogs. I have an English setter that just loves the woods opposite (woodland trust site), which are big enough for a real romp. Another plus is the dog wash hose available. We keep returning here as our daughter lives in Rye but I'd want to anyway. For us it makes a big difference if our hound is well catered for in the surrounding area as I don't want to travel too far at 6am - he could sleep in but it is too exciting.

The Hop Farm Touring And Camping Park
Set in 500 acres of beautiful, rolling Kent countryside. The Oast village on site is the World's largest Oast house collection and makes for a spectacular backdrop. Grass and hardstanding pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electric option. Modern toilets and showers and multiple washing up facilities.
Small shop onsite and pub/restaurant at the entrance. The River Medway flows through the site, providing idyllic waterside pitches. Make the most of the location and try your hand at canoeing or fishing or simply sit back, unwind and enjoy wildlife spotting. A very small site and on 1st impressions I was not really happy with the choice we had made but how wrong could I have been. This is a very clean and tidy site, a few pitches are very close together but this did not appear to be a problem. Toilets and showers were clean and near by is a lovely little pub within walking distance and a butchers that sells fresh bread and milk too. The wardens were very friendly but came across quite abrupt when busy. They even offered to let my son sit on the 'tractor'.

Stayed here for five days in May 2009, this is a lovely little site in the middle of a wood, very quiet site, usual high club standards. You will need a TV aerial extension lead to plug into the site's freeview, they sell them on site for 13 quid or you can pop up the road to B&Q. The only downside to the site is the road leading to it is fairly tight and can be a bit daunting if you meet another caravan, although we kept our speed down and didn't have any problems.

Wanted to give my VW Camper a short run out and decided to book Fairlight Wood for one night. WOW what a campsite! It’s a Caravan Club Members site situated off the A259 towards Hastings in a little village called Pett. I got a little lost trying to find this site but that’s because I decided I knew better than the sat nav lady!
As for the campsite I was initially welcomed by lovely lady who I had already spoken to on the phone earlier. Why can’t all campsite people be this pleasant? I was told I could choose from a host of pitches all of which were of the hardstanding variety. I decided on this pitch in the midst of some nice looking motorhomes & caravans the pitch was a good size and seemed to dwarf my humble old camper van. After about 10 goes at negotiating the position of my camper around the pitch I eventually decided on the first one realising that I could hook up my laptop/tv into the hook-up pod! Not that I go to a campsite to watch tv, but the novelty of actually getting a signal & 60 odd digital channels was somewhat exciting!
This was my first experience of 5 star camping, what with the nice welcome, tv hook-up I decided to go explore the site. The facilities were excellent the campsite grounds were all kept in fantastic order, all very autumnal. The toilet / shower / facilities block has got to be the most pristine I have ever experienced, they were immaculate. The site seemed to be full or nearly full & the toilets / showers were kept in good order throughout.
The information / notice board onsite gives you all the necessary details of the surrounding amenities. The one that appealed to me was the location of the nearest Public House, not that I go camping for the Ale but it was a nice day for a walk & what better than have a pub as your destination. Now, you could either walk the road way (10mins) or the nice campsite people had marked a “treasure hunt” trail through the woods (4mins). I decided on the route through the woods, it was really fun, can’t remember the last time I had trekked through woods not having a clue where I was going. I would say that I would only recommend that you took this route in the daylight. Some of the trees had been marked, not sure you would find you way back to the campsite so easily in the dark! The pub nearby was called The Two Sawyers, it was really nice, albeit that I did not stay for food the menu looked great & the staff were all very nice. Had a nice beer, read the paper & returned to my trusty camper.
Anyway, this has got to be the best CC Campsite I have stayed on in all respects, that's if you want a quiet 'gettaway' type of break. From a purely selfish point of view I hope it doesn’t get too popular as I intend to return as often as I can, I hope I haven't let the secret out!

I went to this site for the half term break and it was lovely. A small well laid out site in woodland, friendly staff, level pitches and good clean toilet facilities. There is a pub within walking distance, but that was closed due to summer flooding, there is a Beefeater on the main road for meals or just a beer if you want. Hasting is great, fishing boats that launch off the beach and chip shops selling the freshest fish you can imagine. Old Hastings has museums, a castle, two cliff rail lifts and quaint old shops and pubs. Fairlight wood is a caravan club members only site, but well worth the cost of membership. There is a Morrisons supermarket in Hastings and you can buy fresh fish from shops on the seafront.
