The site is accessed through a closed gate, and by the time we opened it, the owner was welcoming us to the site. There’s a mix of hard standing and grass pitches. We had a hard stand on our first night, then moved to a slightly sloping grass pitch (we needed ramps).
There are two little cabins with showers and toilets – spotlessly clean, and decent sized shower rooms and a washing up area, supplied with bowls and drainers. They even have a special machine for catching the dreaded Scottish midges – luckily not too many around when we visited in May.
There's a nice kids play area on the site too. They welcome dogs, but ask that they aren't walked within the site.
There are nice touches, paperback books and magazines to borrow, an airer to dry your clothes and a fridge that you can use to store food – with labels to mark up who’s is who’s. Nice thoughtful touches.
There’s a lovely walk just behind the campsite to a ruined church.
The campsite charge for what you use – EHU, shower/toilet facility, wifi. It’s a good system if you are self sufficient. They have waste disposal and water facilities. We paid £30. 50 for 2 nights one with EHU on hard standing and one on a grass pitch, using the shower/toilet facilities. I thought this was great value for money.
The campsite is a great base for exploring the beautiful island of Arran.

I stayed here for 4 nights and I loved it. The site is small and sloping with spotlessly clean toilets and washing up area for dishes.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. The village of Blackwaterfoot is about 2 miles away and the local bus stops at the entrance, In the summer advance booking is essential.
Will definitely return here.

£18 per night for 2 adults and a tent. A gently sloping site for camping although there are some flatter areas at the very top of the field. Reasonably sheltered and very quiet. Facilities are great and wifi for £1. Stayed for 2 nights.
Excellent butcher and baker in Blackwaterfoot. The Lagg Hotel (20mins South) is also very good for food.
A fully functional, good value little campsite with helpful owners.

Cannot fault this beautiful little site on the west of the island - the owners have thought of everything and take an obvious pride in what they do.
The bathrooms are spotless - the site was fairly full when we visited but we never had to queue to use any of the facilities.
There is a fridge for campers' use down by reception - a real boon to anyone not using leccy hook-up. (Lovely to be able to enjoy a glass of cold vino/beer in evening and also not be having to buy fresh milk all the time!)
Site set just back from road between Shiskine & Blackwaterfoot - road is v. Quiet so no noise to disturb campers.
Butchers, general store (inc post office), pub in Blackwaterfoot. Co-op stores in Brodick & Lamlash.
If you fancy a trip over to the Kintyre peninsula, the little ferry goes from Lochranza. It's only half an hour; we went as foot passengers (free parking in Lochranza), and visited the seafood shack over at Skipness - it's a couple of miles walk once you get off ferry.
There's a cafė in Pirnmill up the coast (a lovely, mostly flat bike ride) from Blackwaterfoot, it's worth a visit for homemade cakes alone. It's a restaurant in evening and menu sounded v nice. Another good cafė in Lagg down the coast - it's called velocafė and is done out with loads of interesting cycling memorabilia. Didn't cycle to this one - too many hills and not enough gears for us. !
A site we'll definitely be returning to.

This couple have produced a fabulous site, simply by doing everything properly and having decent human respect for their customers. There is, for instance, a £1, 000 midge killing machine on site. No, it doesn't comprise a brick and a hammer; it's a very clever device that attracts midges and then imprisons them. It has to be emptied every day and the result, although almost pure protein, does not look like idea sandwich filler to me.
The wifi is only a quid per stay and it works really well, at 35MBPs.
The facilities are excellent.
The owners are helpful, friendly, and non-judgemental.
The best site we've been on for ages.
The nearest pub is the hotel at Blackwaterfoot. The real ale was cloudy but the atmos was great.

Cracking wee site. Toilets and showers are spotless. It also has a well sheltered area to do the washing up. There are grass pitches and hard standing. Pitches with hook up and pitches without. You pay more the more facilities you use. If you don't use the shower or toilets you pay less. There is a small children's play area for young kids.
Site has great views. It is easily accessed from the road that goes over the island from Brodick to Blackwaterfoot.

Spotlessly Clean Tidy Site
Just spent 5 days at this site what a lovely clean site Robin and Christine made us very welcome and full of knowledge of the surrounding area The toilet block and washing area were kept immaculate as our motorhome was parked near these facilities we watched them being washed three times each day. There is a bus stop right outside this site which you can get to any part of the island. During our 5 night stay they were various campers and caravanners arriving and leaving but the site was so quiet and peaceful with fantastic views We would certainly return here

The site has 12 pitches some grassy (slightly sloping) and some hard standings (completely level). Pitches are well spaced out. Didn't use the facilities but they were spotless. The view over to the coast is amazing. Bus stops right outside site and are fairly regular.
A total gem of a site extremely reasonably priced. Robin and Christine are delightful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble - including a hospital pick up. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Have recently returned from this site in Scotland. We understand that they are no longer members of Camping & Caravan Club as they have recently received council permission for 10 vans/motor homes. The toilet and shower block is kept very clean and they will be putting in another two. There is also a well kept washing up area and a fridge; for tents only to use. The grass is kept short. A play area is available for children and a notice asks for them to be supervised. Whilst we were there they were putting in quite a few hard standing pitches, but would say they are more suited to mobile homes as not a lot of room for a car, caravan and awning. The owners are knowledgable about the island. Beach 5 mins by car and local shops in Blackwaterfoot. It was extremely noisy and no notice was given of the disruption during the works, which continued all week, which was very disappointing. Cables were also going across the road and pitches from hookup points.

This site is in a nice countryside location with good views, walks nearby and Blackwaterfoot not far away which has a couple of shops and places to eat and drink. Facilities are clean and being extended. The owners are nice. However, in our opinion, Bridgend is now being over-developed with too many pitches/hard standing for the size of the site and a service road being placed in the middle of the field (work probably finished now but we should have been informed of this eyesore and disruption!). We chose it as a Certified Site but that no longer applies. The slopes next to hard standing prevent awnings being used in some areas and once you've got your car parked it's not very spacious.
