The camp site has a great lakeside location, close to Coniston, shops and pubs ect. The site has limited toilets and showers but they are clean and tidy.
The only down side is the additional charges for the electricity used during the stay. Perhaps the price per kilowatt should be on display for all to see, rather than just being told the final price on departure.

Beautifully located site being a nice walk away from Coniston village where there are plenty of small shops and pubs to suit most needs. The site is impeccably tidy with views of the lake from many pitches but not all, that said you still couldn't be more than a 30 second walk from the lake anywhere on the site!
Newly fitted electric and water points, toilet and shower small but clean. Owners ever so friendly as where the people on site, will definitely be returning thanks!

We booked over Easter for our first visit to this site. Beautiful location next to Coniston lake in easy reach of village shops and pubs less than half a mile away. We found the facilities actually very basic- particularly the shower and toilet block which we found not all that clean.
We also found the site quite noisy with children and dogs running about. However the camp owner was very pleasant and accommodating. Electric hookup is standard here as you would expect but what we didn't expect was that you have to pay Extra for the electric you use which is on a meter. This was on top of the £23 a night camping fee and came as something of a shock when paying our bill. We have never met this practice before on a UK campsite.
It doesn't end here either as additional adults are charged at £5. 50 per person per night, children extra £3 each per night and dogs an extra £1 per dog per night plus a boat extra on size. This really works out very very expensive to stay in 2015 at Pier Cottage Caravan Park per night as the camping costs mount up quickly so all we can say is BEWARE!
In summary then: Nice location, basic facilities, noisy on a Bank Holiday, but certainly extremely poor value for money; we are sorry to say. Would we go back again? Probably not, mainly because it's totally overpriced for what you get.

A lovely, sheltered site on the edge of Coniston lake. The pitches were spacious and sheltered by hedges. Excellent walks directly down to the lake shore where one could swim or sit and admire the view.
Further along the lake was the boat hire station for those who wish to venture onto the water. An easy walk to Coniston along a footpath, where there were plenty of places providing meals. A good area for walking and cycling.
The facilities were basic but clean and there was an area for recharging electrical items. There is no hook-up at this site. We stayed for 3 nights and wished we were staying the week as the weather was glorious and the site was so beautiful.

This site opened this weekend and we were the first to arrive. We found owners very friendly and extremely helpful. Pitches very big and private. Facilities yes very basic BUT very clean. No elec hook up but only there 2 nights. Only 5min walk to the village which has 3 decent pubs with excellent bitter so my hubby told me, and the food was good and a affordable price (went both nights) yes we will be going back. The down side, nothing to do with the site is the walk to the village is like dog poo alley just wish the villagers would pick up after their dogs Cant blame that on the tourist !

Great site. Small and well landscaped next to the lake. Signposting poor - you have to know where to go to find it. We had no trouble with getting a site - not too busy at quiet times of the year but could see that it would be different if you want a lake side pitch in the peak season. Owner friendly and helpful, facilities basic but clean and the site is close to all amenities but is small and quiet, apart from a few noisy youngsters at the cafe nearby. Very peaceful once the cafe was closed in the evening.

What a cracking find! No roadside signposts, so visitors are in 'the know'! Dropped in on chance and was lucky enough to pick up the last available spot. As with the other pitches, privately bordered by high hedges, making for a relaxed and sheltered stay. There are lake side pitches, but I reckon you'll need to be pretty damn quick to secure one.
No power, but not an issue - the owners have even created a charging station for anything from leisure batteries to mobile phones.
Water readily available and facilities basic, but clean and obviously regularly attended.
If I had a criticism, it was that it proved difficult to empty my grey water tank as they don't have a drive over drain.
We used the site to walk from and had great walks to Hows Tarn and The Old Man - so something for everyone. On Saturday we even managed a full lake steam boat trip with lunch at the Jumping Jenny.

What a wonderful site! Lovely and simple. No electric but that's not a problem for a weekend stay.
Pitches are well spaced and quite private. The owners are nice, we have not had such a warm welcome on any campsite before! Lots of walking to be had, both gentle and severe.
Also various boats, canoes, etc. For hire very close. The short walk to the village is repaid by real ales, and a good choice of eating if you don't want to cook in your unit.
The only drawback is that it seems to be fully booked most of the time. That says it all doesn't it?

This was a great find, first off, no electric hook up, but with our motorhome that is no problem for a few nights.
You are literally by the side of the Lake, truly fantastic if you are lucky enough to get a nice day or two while you are staying.
Owner very nice, and a lovely (if nervous) dog on site as well. Dogs are welcome.
Its a nice short walk into Coniston, and there are many long and short walks right from the site, if you book 3 nights here its probably cheaper than parking in town for a few hours each day!
The only downside is the showers are very basic, and only one for men at least, with a rather silly arrangement, if someone is just shaving for example, you can not use the shower until they finish, so if you go here when its full, make other arrangements to keep fresh!
If they ever put a decent shower block in and some hookups, I could easily spend all two weeks here, as it stands, its a two or three night at most stay.

Amazing little camp-site, only a few pitches but situated right on the lake. Facilities are basic but it did the trick. There is no electric hook up here but there are facilities to charge phones and freeze ice packs etc
This site is ideal for a chilled weekend, our first time camping but will definitely be going back,Other campers were friendly ( most seemed to be regulars who have been going for years ) and the lady in charge was very accommodating.
Coniston is only 5-10 mins walk away and has some lovely shops and pubs.
