Another fabulous stay at LP. Helpful staff, great atmosphere, lovely surroundings and pool. Again we saw many familiar faces and it's such a popular site. Great night at the food market at St Leon (I think it's every Thursday). I've given lots of reviews before but just to confirm another great stay.

We took our own unit to this site but, on arrival, found most of the pitches were muddy and a bit waterlogged, so opted to stay in a Canadian tent instead. We had a fabulous time, despite the weather being a bit hit-and-miss.
What can one say about this lovely site which has not already been said? The garden setting is its main feature (the fig trees and the herb garden - where you can help yourself - just add to the ambiance). The pool area is glorious and proximity to local attractions and lovely villages can't be bettered.
The restaurant gets busy - booking is imperative - but worth a look, as is the bar area.
There's a great play area for younger children and bike and canoe hire on-site for older ones.
The owner/managers are genuinely interested in providing their guests with a positive stay experience and are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
I can't fault the place. Then again, we stayed in low-season and I'm pretty sure it will get very busy in July and August, which may stretch the facilities a bit more.

Another fabulous visit despite some rain at times. Have booked again for next year - not much left even now! The inside spa area is wonderful and the site continues to be really well cared for and clean. A warm welcome again from Ellen and family as always.
This year we took the dog for the first time. Very dog friendly. Only place we couldn't take her was the pool area (not surprisingly). The joy of this site is that is that it gives kids freedom and experiences that they may not get at home. If you don't like kids - don't come at peak time. Our kids are older now but still enjoy it. We met some young people who now come on their own but have come since being children. This is a very successful site and if it's your thing you will love it. There is a lot of repeat custom. There is a very lively atmosphere but you can find quiet closer to the river of you want it. Can't fault it. Brilliant value for money.

Visited during the peak season in August with a family two children aged 9 and 13
The whole site is very nice in general terms. Very clean toilet and shower blocks. Great shop on site and facilities were great.
The pitches were sadly very worn and muddy where people had used plastic sheets under there tents or awnings. Some of the sites were hard to manoeuvre a large caravan onto but our motor mover saved the day.
Negatives were the amount of children who were just left to their own devices using the on site go karts and bikes to charge up and down the main avenue leading to the shop/ bar area. We saw two accidents where young children actually ran down adults as they couldn't stop in time. The go karts where supposed to be locked up at 8pm. No chance as they continued until very late. They really need to monitor this as it spoils a fantastic site.
The river runs down passed the bottom of the site and canoes can be hired which was great fun they take you about 5 miles up stream in a bus and you row back down stream passing a great village for lunch.
Overall great site which I wouldn't hesitate to return to but they do need to sort out the kids cycling at high speed up and down the main walk. Fantastic location for seeing a huge amount of pretty villages and towns and local attractions

Visited in low season, so not rowdy or full of children
Extremely lush tropically planted site, made up of little groves of 6 or so pitches, so although the site is large, your surrounds seem intimate.
The indoor and outdoor pool areas, with jacuzzi and 2 types of saunas are simply amazing for relaxing in.
Shower blocks are large and clean.
Reception speak excellent english.
There are many many worthy attractions to visit easily from this site, so it makes it an excellent base.
Negatives:
Some pitches are tiny, low trees make it hard for manoeuvring onto some pitches.
Pitches are worn and weedy, making them muddy after the slightest rainfall.
If the site was full, it would maybe feel cramped.
Overall, a beautiful and well cared for site

Another really nice stay here despite the weather ! I have written other reviews so I probably won't repeat too much but the site continues to be well maintained and family friendly. The facilities are good and the new pool and spa area has been done very well. The only thing to say is that at this time it is full of kids which may bother some (not me). I think the weakest area is the take away in my view, not sure why the pizzas stopped as the menu is a bit limited now. The staff and owners remain very helpful and polite and it has a good feel. Many spaces already long gone for 2015 so it's not just us that like it! Planting continues gone lovely and they take pride in the site. For families this really is spot on.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 3 & 9) stayed at Camping Le Paradis for 4 nights in August whilst touring around France in our motorhome and it was one of the few sites we pre-booked.
This is a very large and busy site. The majority of people on the site were dutch and so not a very 'French' feel (I should point out that I am half Dutch so have nothing against the Dutch!) At over 50 euros a night we felt it wasn't one of our favourites.
The good points:
- The Vezere Valley is a beautiful area, and the river runs right beside the campsite so you can swim, go canoeing etc from the site. St Leon sur Vezere itself is a lovely little town. There are loads of prehistoric sites in the local vicinity which are well worth a visit!
- The site itself is very well maintained and there is lots of beautiful greenery.
- The toilets/shower blocks are very modern.
- The kids playground is brilliant, lots for all ages.
- There are 3 swimming pools and a toddler pool which although busy are very nice.
- There is a very nice herb garden, from which you are allowed to pick herbs to use in your own cooking.
- The site appears to be quite eco-conscious.
- The statics looked lovely, and some had nice views over the river.
- I needed to use the laundry and this was really good - great washing machines unlike some sites!
- You can hire bikes, canoes etc. There are also organised canoe trips and my husband and son went on one of these and loved it.
The not so good points:
- The site was very noisy, not much peace and quiet
Anywhere! We were lucky to be away from the bar/restaurant area, but if you were closer there was very loud entertainment on some nights.
- The toilets and showers were very busy (well it was August!) and the hot water was therefore a bit hit and miss.
- Our pitch was very worn - just mud with hardly any grass.
- There was nowhere to walk/cycle to from the site. The path along the river was overgrown and so you couldn't walk very far along it(I'm not sure if it was an official path or not) and the only other alternative was to walk or cycle along a very busy road with no path. This was a shame as it was such a lovely area to explore and it would have been nice not to always have to drive.
- The on site facilities were very expensive (shop, Wi-Fi etc). As it was such an expensive site, surely these could have been a bit cheaper! We've stayed in municipal campsites in the past which had free wifi! 6 bottles of water cost about 4 euros - for the exact same bottles in the local supermarket in Montignac they were 69 cents for 6 bottles.
- The restaurant was nice and the food was lovely. However on the one occasion we chose to eat there, despite reserving a table, we were seated in an area which didn't get much attention. The waitresses were extremely stressed and only seemed to have time to deal with tables on one side. The result - we ended up with the wrong meals, which arrived before our drinks order with a substantial wait and generally slow service (I'm ok with slow as long as they actually know you're there!). They were very apologetic though, and apologised without any prompt from us and offered a free drink at the end.
- There was a kids club, but we weren't given any information about this. I happened to stumble upon a kind of mini-disco going on which my kids would have loved, but it was too late by then.
All in all, I would definitely visit this area again, but would probably choose to stay in a cheaper less busy site next time as this site just wasn't for us.

Our 8th or 9th visit to this lovely site and every time it gets better and better. Over the winter they have built a new indoor pool complex (with sliding roof for the good weather) with sauna, Turkish bath and Jacuzzi as well as superb changing rooms. It has been done to a very high standard as is everything they do at this site. Landscaping under way around the complex which should be complete shortly.
Year on year the planting and shrubbery around the site grows and makes the site look even better.
This year we tried the restaurant at Le Moustier just down the road and it was very good. Not cheap but very good.
We visited some new places as well as the well tried ones and went a little further afield into the Lot and visited Autoire and Loubressac which are well worth a visit.
Must have enjoyed it as we have already booked for next year.

We had a really good holiday at this site.
The site is immaculate and very well run. We have two children 9 and 5 and it was indeed a paradise for them. They loved the pools and the go-karts. And our son particularly liked the BMX track!
The toilets and showers were always clean and we found the piped music quite amusing.
The staff were very polite and worked exceptionally hard.
We loved the area. It's beautiful.
However just a couple of small grumbles, If we returned we would try to get a pitch down the other end of the site as we were up in yucca, which is behind the bar and next to the pools so a bit noisy for us and the 11o'clock quiet rule only seemed to apply when there wasn't entertainment!
I also felt that the kids entertainment was geared up mostly for the high volume of Dutch kids, although they were very friendly.
All things considered a good site though!

We spent two weeks here in mid-August, with our 2 children (9 & 7).
Overall it's a very impressive, family run campsite; well cared for, with all the amenities you'd expect. Everyone we spoke to was impressed with the site. It seems to have phenomenal repeat business: the person in the pitch next to us had been coming for 13 years, (despite trying other places).
Other people have commented on the mix of nationalities, we found it a good mix of people: I’d guess about 50% Dutch, 30% English & the rest French & the occasional German. The kids club was run by Dutch people & did have a bit of a Dutch tendency, but our kids went along to a couple of things happily enough.
Things we liked:
- Weather: clear blue skies & about 30 deg C every day.
- Lovely planting around the site.
- Very well run & the staff took obvious pride in what they did.
- The site is laid out in groups of about 8 or 10 pitches, which makes it all a bit more personal
- Most pitches have shade
- The loos were cleaned very frequently & were about the cleanest we've seen
- Little touches like the free drink on arrival & bottle of wine when you leave
- The herb garden was a great little touch
- The Vezere valley is very picturesque
Things we didn’t like so much
- On one of the Friday nights there was a band that went on until about 11. 45pm. Our pitch was near the bar so it was noisy. Apart from that it was quiet at night.
- Cold nights: especially in our 2nd week the nights got pretty chilly, down to about 6 deg C one night, but that's hardly the site’s fault.
- It needed a couple more WCs
- The Dordogne was generally pretty crowded in mid-August.
Things we did that we'd recommend:
- Kayaking
- The kids loved the tree walking (like ‘Go Ape’) at La Foret des Ecrueils
- Lunch by the river in St Leon sur Vezere.
Apparently they’re rebuilding the existing swimming pools & adding a covered pool for next season.
All in all a great site.
