I visited for 2 weeks over July / August 2012. We were a family of 2 adults, a teenage boy, 11 yr girl and 6 yr girl.
We went with a large tent and had an electrical hookup. I think (but don't KNOW) that the electrical hook-up get you a bigger plot, but maybe we were lucky with the plot we selected.
Our plot size was big enough for our tent (7. 5 x 4. 5m), a pup tent, trailer, car and badminton set (and table/benches, bikes etc).
We've been here once before so knew what was on offer - takeaway (great pizzas, poulet roti, snacks, burgers etc), bar with drinks (obviously) and sandwiches / salads, shop (new this year) with all the essentials, pools (indoor, kids activity, slides and main pool) children's play areas, football, volleyball, small play areas near shower blocks. There is also a tennis court (payable), wifi (payable) and other things that we didn't use.
Wifi was temperamental in our area of the site and I could rarely get on unless I was outside the tent (how come 1mm of material can affect a wifi signal???). I also found that moving a few feet made a huge difference to the wifi reception. We paid €20 for 12 hours and didn't use all of that. Kids on Facebook, me working, etc for 2 weeks- and still had a few hours left at the end. Shorter time passes were also available.
I went into the bar to use it a couple of times and when I couldn't get internet access, staff reset the router quickly when asked to.
Shower blocks were clean usually- they were cleaned several times each day. When being cleaned one side was blocked off at a time meaning that girls used the boys side and vice versa. As there isn't a signed male/female side, this sometimes happened in any case, and isn't a problem in my opinion, though some people find it a problem.
The pools don't have Lifeguards but do have occasional roaming staff when it gets busy. The staff make sure that any ball games in the pool don't get too rowdy, inflatables don't cause congestion and teenagers (and others) don't get too enthusiastic and spoil the fun for others. This works quite well.
My teenage son disappeared from mid morning to night (apart from returning for food and drinks) to play with other teens at the football pitch pool, table tennis. Daughters also played in these areas (accompanied by mum / dad) frequently and teens were not a problem at all.
Staff at reception were excellent, and many spoke very good english (thankfully). Particular staff worth a mention were Morgane, Angelique, Benedicte and the owners.
This is a great site, especially for families although we saw many couples on the site.
Saint Gilles Croix de vie was a lovely town to visit, and the mussels were great there. We also visited the salt marshes nearby.
Lovely lake to walk around as well
A great holiday and no-one wanted to leave.

We’re just back from 6 nights in Le Pin Parasol, camping with two adults and three children.
The toilets, showers and washing up areas were kept very clean (despite the best efforts of some users ; who had some very unsavoury personal habits in the toilets) however there wasn’t always enough hot water for a good shower and occasionally the toilet tissue and soap dispensers ran out. Yes, the new sanitary block is unisex, with no particular side allocated as male or female however only the urinal area would cause concern to those offended by the sight of the back of a man’s head.
The whole park was kept clean and tidy, particularly the pool areas and the water quality was very good although I cannot fathom the French obsession with prohibiting shorts; if you wore French-style men’s trunks in an American water-park you would be asked to cover up or leave!
The staff were very friendly and helpful, spoke English and tolerated my feeble attempts at French. They dealt with the very minor problems we had promptly.
Pitches were a little small, someone with a double-axle caravan, a big awning and a large tow car might find not much space left over.
The supermarket was very limited in choice but there was a Super-U in easy driving distance. There was a large queue every morning for fresh baguettes and croissants but more ‘speciality’ baked goods like pain au chocolat had to be ordered the day before.
There was a nice little takeaway that specialised in fresh-made pizzas.
Lots to do nearby and the driving was very easy on the practically-empty roads.
There wasn’t much to do in walking distance but if you wanted to dine out there was a lovely little lake-side auberge less than ten minutes walk away.

When you arrive there are signs which say that new arrivals must park in the car park and book in. However when towing a caravan there are NO parking bays for such a unit. The car park is tight and very difficult to manoeuvre from onto the site. One of the reasons I booked this site is that it advertised WI/FI at each pitch. The cost of this is 40 euros per week. This internet often goes down and you are told to use the bar (as they want you to spend money there) I tried to ask them to reset the internet but the women in reception were very unhelpful and refused to. There are no notices stating which side of the toilets are which, but the urinals in one side give the game away. Many people do not care which side of the toilet blocks to use. I found this to be indecent and would not like to allow a young child to attend the toilet block alone. I have been to many other French sites and not had the same problem. The taps to fill up your water butts are on push buttons which take an age to fill up the butt. I found a tap in the laundry which you could attach a pipe to fill up your butt much easier. There is an indoor pool, heated outdoor pool, splash pool with slides and a children's play pool. They advertise many rules in the pool but only seem to enforce the 'budgie smugglers' (no shorts) rule. Groups of people take over the pools playing ball games which it says are not allowed. This site is very much away from anything and you must drive quite a distance if you want to eat out, visit the sea, or do other things which you may want to on holiday.

What can be said about this site that hasn't already been said a dozen times? I don't know but here goes
We have 3 kids: 14, 10 and 5 yrs old.
We booked a larger plot with electricity and had a fab plot. Our tent is just under 8m long and there was at least an extra 3 m after our tent length to the end of the plot. We also had our car on the plot and could still play badminton / boules between the car and tent. Brilliant!
We were about 30m from the wash block. I queued once for a shower (for about 3 mins) and never had to queue for the loo or wash basin, or dish wash area.
As has been said before, the loos don't have toilet paper or soap, so remember to take your own. The wash bocks are modern with separate basins, toilets and showers (and urinals in the gents). There was no marking for male / female separation apart from peach / blue colouring. When the ladies were queueing some of them decided to take the shortcut of using the gents, which was a little surprising when having a pee to turn round and see a young woman walking towards you, but hey - when in france.
The wash blocks were very very clean all the time. Someone started cleaning about 6-ish (I saw them when taking one or another of the tribe to the loo) and they were cleaned throughout the day. We never had a problem with cleanliness.
There is a shop with basic supplies. Bread is available till late afternoon; croissants until lunch-ish. If you want anything else, it has to be ordered the day before. They do sell Camping Gaz but it;s cheaper at the local hyper or express you (about 15 mins for the hyper and 10 for the express U)
There's a bar and a takeaway with the usual offering. If you want a whole chicken, you need to book mid-afternoon.
The pools aren't huge and get very busy in the afternoon (although we did go in August). The slides were great fun for all kids and grown ups. As mentioned by other people - they are rather keen (in a Gestapo type style of being keen) on the budgie-smuggler (speedo-type) trunks.
We hired bikes from the site, the teenager disappeared to play in the football, basketball, volleyball etc courts and went to the pool on his own happily after making friends. There were loads of children for all of our kids to play with. We didn't see our eldest for hours. Our middle child disappeared for a short while with friends met on site. We felt very comfortable and safe. Our youngest played on a small play area about 20m from our tent (with slide and rocking thing, and a sand pit).
We had a great time at this site (our first main camping trip apart from a couple of weekends away), and loved it.
Europe is a big place with loads of campsites so we'll look elsewhere next time, but that shouldn't take away from this campsite. It was brilliant. The kids want to go back here but grown ups fancy somewhere different

We have been to quite a few sites in France in recent years and we can honestly say this is one of the best - but I was a bit wary after reading some of the reviews! We booked via the Camping and Caravan Club and went with our children - 12, 10 and 9
Best bits
- very large pitches although may be a bit tight on some pitches access wise if you have a caravan
- sparkling clean everywhere, pool, showers, toilets, grounds etc
- staff very friendly and spoke a wide range of languages - 5 was the most I counted on one member of staff, all shown on their badges
- quiet, the pitches were patrolled after 10 and anyone making excessive noise was asked nicely to keep it down, better than most UK sites
- Kids club was excellent - if they choose to do it
Worries from other reviews
- no supermarket locally - nearest was just over 3 miles and was a local Super you - had everything we needed
- Bar expensive - well as it was a remote-ish site, they could in theory charge what they wanted, but we found it in line with other French sites we have been too, and they did have a happy hour too!
- speedos or trunks in the pool - yes this is enforced and I was not too happy, but hey after a couple of days, when in Rome and all that.
What else we did locally
Beaches - Les Dunes - fab
Le Defi (go ape type place, with paintball) - REALLY good value for money, as long as you want for one price
Apremont - nice Chateau and inland beach with pedallos etc
Les Sables & St Gilles - well worth a visit
Definitely thinking about going back next year, something we never do!

Just returned after 2 weeks at Le Pin Parasol! We had a GREAT time, even though the weather gave us two days of 32'C (which meant I was glued to the fan!), followed by cracking storms and flash floods! HOWEVER - our bad luck should not deter ANYONE from coming here. It was a great site which our family (particularly our 10 and 9yr old) enjoyed. Their parents (us) enjoyed it as well! Facilities were great, and although we didn't partake in the bar, or the Children's Club (just didn't happen for some reason), it was good to know that this back up was there. Children are already 'can we go next year??'. It's only the distance for us in North Wales which makes us think about whether we would - but otherwise highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommended! :-) (Take your own toilet paper ;-) !)

This was our first time at LPP. We were there from 22 July to 7th August. Just about all the good reviews echo our findings. We took 2 inflatable kayaks with us for our teenagers (18 and 16) and used them on the Lac almost every other day. Huge Dutch presence. This was not a problem, in fact we quite enjoyed the company, but the number of under fives and in particular new borns around our pitch made for a stressful holiday. But that's life!
The best beach we found was outside of Brem at La Grange. Bit of a walk for the supervised beach though, but either side of the estuary was fine for us. The pools on site were very overcrowded each day, due to the large number of visitors and children. We aimed to go for a late swim between 6 and 7 if we were on site, and this was definitely the time to go.
Our teenagers were disappointed in the lack of older teens there, but we were in the 100 pitches, and most of the Brits seemed to be up in the 200s.
Wifi was expensive £40 pw)and reception very poor, even on our pitch (101)but we survived!
Would we recommend it, definitely yes.

We had a lovely 2 weeks at Pin Parasol, I would not hesitate to recommend this site. The campsite is clean and beautifully kept, the owners friendly and helpful, Celine and her family were all great.
This was our first time camping in France and we found that the pitches were level and of a good size - we easily fitted our Montana 6 plus extension, car, picnic table.
There were no problems with mossies and wasps came round when you ate but same as when you picnic in the UK no more.
Our pitch did not need a converter to make it work as in you just plugged in the EHU same as you would in the UK. This ran the fridge and the kettle and charged the phones etc with no prob.
Wifi was very expensive but you could use the PCs in reception - I didn't so I don't know how much this cost.
There is a takeaway which opens at 5pm and there's a Moules & Frites night on a Tuesday. Nice moules. You have to book them although we forgot and they had some for us. It's a bit of a bunfight ordering, you queue, place your order, say you'll come back in say an hour - so if you're ordering food factor this in otherwise you will not enjoy a long delay with hungry kids.
There is a bar and restaurant and I can't comment as we didn't eat there (tight budget is only thing preventing us!).
Our kids went to the morning kids club a few times and said it was fun, they do daily sessions for smalls in the morning - arty stuff - and sports in the afternoon. My eldest LOVED the littlies disco, and honestly, I wished I could have joined in, 2 ladies who weren't afraid of making fools of themselves stood at the front and did these fab French pop dances. I want the CD. Anyway this was on most evenings and runs for about 45 mins. All these are free by the way.
We hired a fridge from the site and had no problem arranging this while we were there, and it was the size of a normal under worktop fridge! Fab.
There are a lot of Brits touring with tents and caravans and everyone is very friendly and relaxed, lots of kids enjoying themselves (including ours). Ours are 6 and 4 and they found lots of Brits to play with, which made it easier as they could chat together, but equally when a French family joined us on the next door pitch their kids were swept into the gang. That's what you want isn't it, everyone nice and friendly together.
The pool area is beautifully kept and the slide pool's temperature will wake you up. The temps are fine, our kids preferred the inside pool which was little kids heat, I preferred the outside. All were busy especially on a sunny day. Our kids HATE the cold - it is worth knowing that they do let kids wear wetsuits and Next type of sun protection suits in the pool. I'd take wetsuits because we only took 1 and had to traipse out miles to a Decathlon to buy another.
Days out - we hired bikes and a kiddy trailer from the campsite and rode to Apremont (about 30 mins, nice ride) - lovely lake beach, gorgeous boulangerie to buy picnic from on the corner, nice castle-y thing to explore, you can hire pedaloes etc. Lovely day out, mix of exercise, cake and lying down.
We enjoyed St Gilles beach, if you go right out to the sailing school end there's a lagoon great for the kids. There's also free parking in the side streets up this end.
But whatever you do, don't leave without hiring a donkey! From the campsite leave the deposit to get the key down to the lake, go down the path to the water and turn right, you will come after 5 mins or so to a very nice creperie which people said was good and if you turn right up the road there a short steep climb brings you to the Calin des Anes - Ane is donkey in French for those like me who didn't know. You can hire a donkey and take your kiddy out on it ON YOUR OWN! Wow our kids were absolutely beside themselves with joy at having their own donkeys, for an hour. You could hire them for the whole day if you wanted. Then you just take your donkey out for a walk round the gorgeous Lac du Jaunay. They have saddles and helmets.
No swimming in the Lac but it makes for fab jog route and is great for mountain bikers. Take helmets.
Tip - We struggled to get the little bottles of gas that go in the single cookers and had to scrounge some from our neighbours so next year we're stocking up.
We also went to the zoo at Sables D'Olonne which was small but enjoyable, great giraffes. Nice huge beach there good for splashing around in water pools created as tide goes out.
Supermarkets we used (tried 'em all!) were the HyperU in Aizenay and the LeClerc and the LIDL in St Gilles, then we found the one in Coex, 5 mins up the road and a better size. The big ones are huge like Tesco Extras, Coex is more like a small town Morrisons, but classier because it's French!
We would not hesitate to return to PP but we are the sort that have to try something new so next year we're trying a Castels site. The weather at Pin was a lovely 23-25, great for active hols, but as our kids like the heat we're heading south to try that out. Happy holidays! x

Just returned from a great fortnight at Le Pin Parasol.
Good Points
===========
1. Huge pitches (especially compared to similar sites on the coast).
2. Excellent pools: 1 large-ish pool with baby bit, 1 heated (a little) indoor pool and 1 shallow, 'fun' pool with fountains etc.
3. Bar and small shop.
4. Games room (table-tennis and pool tables).
5. Small take-away (but only open from 5pm) selling surprisingly tasty pizzas, chicken, chips.
6. Good toilet blocks; clean and free hot water but no toilet paper and never had to queue (although my wife did once).
7. Free kids club for 1.5 hours every day - not professionally supervised (just the site staff) but our kids (7 and 4) enjoyed it.
Bad points (nowhere is perfect)
==========
1. Only one rubbish point by the site entrance. OK if you're near there but a pain if, like us, you're at the other end of the site.
2. Can feel cramped when full as every free space is a pitch - would be great if they would sacrifice a few pitches for play areas, maybe.
3. Shop is very small and doesn't do semi-skimmed milk (minor point but annoying when the whole family can't stand full-fat).
4. Nowhere to buy lunch (although you could say that is a good thing as I calculated we saved at least 300 euros by buying baguettes and making picnics most days).
The surrounding area was a great surprise - I wasn't expecting much but there are several pretty towns (Apremont, St Gilles-Croix and others which I can't remember the names of) and Coex is only 10 minutes drive and usefully equipped with good-size supermarket, 24 hour cashpoint, pharmacy etc.
Beaches at Bregnoilles and St Jean de Monts are great (probably others as well) and several good bike routes in the area (recommend the one from Brem-sur-Mer to Sables D'Olonne through a forest).
Overall, great site, lovely area - highly recommended.
(PS: apologies for any dodgy spelling of French names!).

We've just spent 12 nights here & had a brilliant time.
The weather hasn't been brilliant - averaging low 20s with quite a lot of cloud cover plus a few heavy downpours but we've still really enjoyed it.
We had 2 14yr olds plus a 5 (nearly 6) year old with us so needed somewhere where the older ones could have some independence but be safe & also playground & pool suitable for the youngest. Le Pin ticked all the boxes.
It's also within easy reach of gorgeous beaches, Puy Du Fou (altho be prepared to be pushed & shoved in the crowds!) & La Rochelle which is beautiful.
We had a walk around the campsite before we left & have already decided on which pitch we'd like to book for next year.
