Visited Le Pin Parasol end of August and we were really impressed, pitch wasn't anywhere near the largest on site but easily took our montana 6 & extension & estate car with plenty of room left to spare, infact because of the heat we added a 3x3 gazebo from the Hyper you on the second day & still room to spare. Pitch overlooked the playarea which was a little noisy the first week but only until it got dark & was a good position for our 8 year old.
Toilet/ shower facilities clean, plentiful & modern, never had to wait.
Pool was fab although I thought the outdoor pool was cold but I am a wuss! kids didn't seem bothered, the indoor pool & kiddy pool were warmer.
There is direct acess to Lac Du Jaunay via a path from playarea (key deposit 10 euro), lovely walks, Auberge(didn't try) & pedalo's.
Good mix on site(Dutch/French/British) & very friendly.
We didn't really do much but laze about as not used to such good weather on our camping trips but can recommend the 'scent gardens' at Coex for an afternoon in the shade in beautiful surroundings(even had a tropical rain shower in greenhouse at 4pm)& we all enjoyed the Chateau of Richard The Lion Heart at Talmont. Interesting ruins, plenty of activities for the kids (dressing up as a princess or chevalier, crossbow shooting etc.) and a joust.
For beaches Bretignolles is nearby with its lagoon if your kids aren't keen on the waves, we liked The Grand Plage at St Gilles best. St Gilles is also lovely for an evening walk & an icecream.
We had a fantastic holiday at Pin Parasol it felt like you were in France (not a British outpost) but still plenty of friends for the kids. Facilities just right for us ( although never got around to trying kids club or Evening entertainment so can't comment on that.)

Our fourth year at this site and very popular with the English and Dutch. We sailed from Portsmouth to St Malo first tme on that route and took us about 3 1/2 hours to the site, normally go Portmouth to Caen.
We have a grand confort pitch, with shade in the late afternoon. Most of the pitches are big, only a few are small and tight to get you van onto.
The shower/toilet block are kept very clean but you do have to take your own toilet paper.
The washing machines I found didn't always get your clothes clean, so I washed by hand and used the machine to spin ( inside room back to the sinks the far left one ) Not many people knew this.
The pool complex consists of indoor pool, slide pool, main pool, children's fun pool, slide and water fountains, the water wasn't that warm in the pools.Trunks or speedos must be worn or you are asked to leave.
There is a game room, ping pong tables, multi soprts pitch and bikes jumps just outside the site.
A small shop is inside the bar, it sells the basics, special breads and pains au chocolat must be ordered the day before. You can get daily papers.
In reception you can hire bikes, irons and hoovers.
The take away does pizzas, chips, sausages etc.
Evening entertainment isnt that good, once a week lotto, a band, rodeo and sumo wrestling, the teenagers use the bar more that the adults.
Beaches are 15 minutes away and Coex nearest village 7 minutes up the road, supermarket there.
Many places to visit Puy Du Fou and Ile d Yeus, too many to mention.
The owners Selina and Patrice are very helpful, they speak very good english and will try to help you no matter what the problem is.
Last year it was 11 pm silence but this year it is 10 pm, the teenagers now go to the lake to talk (or to chill out as I was told by my 2 lads ) as they used to talk on the terrace until about midnight or slighly later.
We have booked for next year and hope to have good weather like the last four years ( hot )

Brilliant site. Agree wholeheartedly with previous comments and could add little, the Creperie on the lake is a must. The picnic area across the bridge cool and breezy on hot days. Facilities well equipped and spotless with abundance of hot water.(take your own loo roll!) We would certainly consider using again which is unusual for us but having sussed out the surrounding area we could get straight into the doing nothing part of the holiday much more quickly! We travelled Portsmouth - St-Malo overnight which was not a pleasant experience, book a cabin to at least get a chance of a snooze next time and find a site near the port to overnight on the way home. No facilities at the port other than the area in front of the check ins which we found noisy. Nice easy drive down, would advise leaving the motorway at Nantes and heading across country rather than the peage. You will enjoy the quiet roads and passing through the villages. Les Dunes Beach great for surfing but wear something on your feet as Weaver fish are about. Aizenay good for a coffee and the market plus the Hyper you if you need it. We normally only use the site as a base but found we spent most days there as it has it all. Owners very professional and helpful

We stayed in early July so it was fairly quite - which is just what we wanted.
The weather let us down a bit - sunny but very windy so it was really too cold to use the outside pools. The kids loved the inside pool though and it was big enough to cope without being too crowded.
We were up near to reception and the pitches were huge (cue arguments about where to put the tent!). It all felt very airy and open which was lovely.
The takeaway wasn't exactly wonderful but it was ok. The bar/shop wasn't much to be honest but was fine for loo paper and ice creams which is pretty much all we used it for!
Very helpful staff and lovely clean toilet blocks.
The only downside we felt was the surrounding area. It's very remote - a 15 minute drive to the nearest supermarket (although it's great when you get there!). The surrounding area just isn't that pretty and the towns are all pretty new (concrete houses) and not scenic at all.
Having said that - the water park at Ile de Noirmoutier is a great day out and the zoo at Sables d'Olonnes is small but worth a trip.

This was our first caravanning holiday in France and what a site, it was excellent and we really can't fault it.
As it was my first time towing in France we went for the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo as it was only about a 3.5 hour drive. Getting there was not a problem as the ferry got in at 0800 and so we were there by mid day but as the return left at 10.30 we stayed overnight at a local campsite near to St Malo. If I was to do it again I'd probably stay in their late arrivals car park on the last night and leave early in the morning but having seen how easy it is to tow in France I'd probably drive to Calais next time as we live just outside SE London.
The site itself is wonderful, even the approach was a delight driving past fields of sunflowers. Once there we found the staff were friendly and the facilities were excellent and well looked after. It had a very nice pool complex with slides, indoor pool and a new and very nice kids pool. The kids loved the kids club and mini disco which was on every night at 7.30 for half an hour. This meant I had to sit on the terrace outside the bar with a beer supervising them every night, life is full of sacrifices.
We were there at the end of August and in the last week you really noticed the site clearing out but we like a quite site so it wasn't an issue although I got the impression that this would be a quiet site at any time of year. Our pitch was on the original part of the site near the reception. It was a good size pitch but it was a bit tight trying to get our 7m Bailey onto it and during our stay we did have to help a couple of others getting their vans on and off of their pitches.
As for the area its a lovely part of France, about a 15 minute drive to the beach and I also would recommend Brem Sur Mer. The Atlantic coast is a lot more fun than the Med with good waves for surfing etc and it was even warm! There isn't really a lot to do with in walking distance but there is the lake which is about 5 miles to walk round and it has the most wonderful creperie over looking the lake about 15 minutes walk from where the path from the site to the lake comes out. It is a must for a lazy lunch and glass of wine on a sunny afternoon.
I think the biggest recommendation for this site though is that it is full of people who have been coming back every year for years. They are all very welcoming and full of advice for the newcomer. We would definitely consider coming back to this site and the friends we went with are but we have decided to head further south for the guaranteed weather. Our problem now is to find a site that lives up to this one.

Wow! I'm so excited because we have booked to go to Le Pin Parasol again. We went back in 2007 as a part of a 6 week summer tour of France and this campsite was a country mile ahead of other sites that we visited. It is quite simply the best site you could wish for.
The pitches are HUGE and very level. So much space, you can set up your camp however you fancy. It's also pretty private, with bushes and trees separating the pitches.
The toilets blocks and amenities are spotless. You won't have to worry about where you step when you get out of the shower here. I don't remember queuing once and we went in mid August.
The pools are great. Very clean and considering the size of the site were not crowded, although on very sunny days when we had over indulged and had a lie in we did struggle to get a sun lounger in a prime spot!
The bar and shop are good for a site facility and the take away restaurant is fab. Moules Frites - highly recommended!
Our kids were 2 and 4 when we went last time and they loved it. Whilst they weren't old enough to go off on their own, the site is secure enough to let them on a long leash. They are over the moon to be going back - after 5 years of camping at various other sites since this one, they still remember this one as the best by far. We booked this last night and the kids jumped up and down whooping when they realised where we were going.
The area is great - by a lake, nice beaches, great food, plenty to fill your time no matter what the weather.
On second thoughts - don't listen to me book somewhere else. I want to have a lie in and still get my sun lounger by the pool!

Stayed again at this site and have also booked for next year! Circumstances forced us to go in early July this year and it was immediately noticeable how much quieter this site is outside the peak period (late July through August). The site was less than half full for all the 3 weeks we were there meaning there were no queues for any of the facilities and the whole place was much quieter which suited us just fine.

We love this site and are going again this year. In fact, this will be our 6th stay here. It is a popular site with the Dutch as well as English.
Although a large site with over 300 pitches, it is well divided up with attractive hedges and trees so looks much smaller than it really is. The caravan pitches range from large to enormous though some are more suited to smaller caravans as access can be tricky for larger units.
Over the years, the owners have built up the pool complex and there is now a main pool, a smaller pool with water slides, a large childrens' pool containing slides, fountains etc and an indoor pool. There are games rooms, a large bar with patio area overlooking the pool, a small shop sreving basics such as bread, butter and milk and a small pizzeria cooking fresh food to order.
The showers/toilet blocks are immaculate, there are also laundry facilities and washing-up areas.
During the peak season, plenty of activities are arranged for both children and adults. Bikes can be hired on site too.
The local village (5 mins away by car) has a good supermarket and a fantastic fishmongers amongst other things. A new hyper market opened last year in Aizenay, a small town some 10 miles away and there is a large Le Clerc in St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie 10 miles in the opposite direction.
Fantastic beaches are just 10 to 15 minutes drive away (try Les Dunes near Brem-sur-Mer). Further afield (within a 2 hour drive) are places such as the Ile de Noirmoutier, La Venise Vert, La Rochelle, Ile de Rey, La Grand Parc de Puy du Fou . The list is endless.
In conclusion, Le Pin Parasol is a great site, well run and well situated. There is just so much to see and do in the Vendee that I don't think we'll ever tire of the place.

Good sized pitches and a great site with a fantastic pool complex. Kids have good play area as well. Small shop with basics, fresh bread everyday.
Site provided activities through the week, climbing wall, trampolines, donkey rides, trips out to taste wine. You can also hire bikes from site. Lake close by. Reception staff friendly.
Showers/ toilets were always clean, hot water runs tepid later on in the day, still ok for shower.
Local area is good also, local beach about 15mins drive. Supermarkets close by.
All in all a great site.

For the 4 years prior to using 'Le pin Parasol' we had always stayed at a site in Brittany so we were very excited to have a change.
Very large site divided into blocks of between 6/8 units some with hedges some without. We were placed in the new part of the site which resembled a lunar landscape with no shade, trees or greenery of any sort.
The block behind us had a very large family, (at least 8), who all arrived in Taxis and proceeded to make as much noise as possible at all hours. A request to the reception staff to ask for the noise to be kept down was not successful.
Not a lot around the site without having to drive with the exception of the wonderful 'Lac de Journay' which has canoeing, pedaloes and cycling through the surrounding forest. The lac is accessible down a small hill.
The site struggled with numbers in August and there was always a wait for the showers and loos.
We spent the whole holiday wishing we had gone to our usual site in Brittany
