This is one of those hidden gems you don't want to tell anyone about.
Disguised as a wild west village you can pick a cowboy wagon, or Tipi for your stay. If you have your own tent, you can pick the campsite, or if you have a touring caravan everyone is 18+ then there's the small but very good touring pitches.
Although we stayed off season in our caravan, the owners were very friendly and were there to help out if needed. The toilet block was well stocked, clean, and warm.
As our stay was off peek, we can only imagine that it gets very busy during school holidays, especially due to the unique theme of this place.
An excellent idea for a campsite brought together and maintained very well.
Would we stay here again - Yes
Only downside we found was the proximity to the road which means that at times it can be a bit noisy but in general we didn't notice the traffic.

My husband booked me a Woodys Wagon for my birthday treat this weekend to go with our 2 children (ages 6 and 10). Its a camping pod with extras: wheels, wagon cover, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, electric heater and 2 single mattresses and a double mattress. I was greeted by a birthday banner, and gift inside.
The camp is truly a hidden gem.
You can get into the spirit of the Cowboy/Indian thing or just enjoy the tranquillity and watch the kids climb the trees and have fun.
Dogs are not allowed in the Wagons, our dog stayed in the car at night. There is an amazing walk 100yards out of the gates.
The ladies toilets and changing facilities are clean and tidy with free hot showers.
We will definitely return!

Friendly reception.
Good hardstanding and driveway in, although dusty in the wind.
Services not cleaned every day and sinks looked as though they were not cleaned at all during our 5 day stay. Showers worked well though. Washing up area not very good either.
Luckily we had good weather for all 5 days of our stay.
We only have a small campervan but were surprised to find we had to pay extra for our drive-away awning, if we had taken a caravan we would have had a car to park on the pitch which would not have cost anything!
Having said all that we did have a good time.

We've just come back from an excellent weekend at Pinewood and think that it deserves a great review. The location is just a 5 minute car journey from Scarborough town centre, the facilities are excellent and the owners are very accomodating.
We (being myself, my partner and our Chinese Shar Pei) stayed in a Cowboy Tipi Tent for our first two days, which was excellent. However due to freak weather whilst we were out our tipi became damaged. The owners called me on my mobile and advised what had happened and advised we would need to move to another Tipi and asked if we would like them to move our belongings. I thought this was very considerate as they gave us the option in case we didn't want them touching our things.
We of course went with the option of them moving us and by the time we got back to the site we had been moved into a larger Tipi, our bed had been made up and all our stuff was neatly arranged, I actually felt a bit embarassed as we had left our tent in a bit of a state, however they couldn't have been nicer about it all and said that they hoped we hadn't been too inconvenienced by it all.
I really liked this site because unless you wanted help from the owner's you were left alone to get on with your holiday (I hate people keep coming round to see if your o.K and having a nice time).
You are asked to be quiet after 10pm, which I think could maybe put some people off as it can appear that this is quite strict, but I didn't personally find this an issue.
All in all I would highly recommend Pinewood as a dog friendly, people friendly, unique experience! P.S If you do have a dog, check out the Scalby Mills Pub, Scalby Mills (about 5 mins drive from the site) lovely pub grub and as the sign on the door states; Dog and Sprog friendly!

This was our first visit to Pinewood Holiday Park. We stayed in a tipi which was excellent. There was more than enough space for 3 of us and comfortable futons to sleep on. Heating and electricity available on a meter.
Unfortunately the site is situated on the main road to Scarborough and the traffic noise cannot be ignored. The facilities are adequate although in the washing up area the water trickled out of the tap and was only tepid.
The showers are good but the wash hand basins had faulty taps which did not turn of properly. The chemical waste / nappy bin area was in a poor state with an overflowing bin of nappies piling up onto the ground, this was the case for the duration of our 3 night stay.
We liked the arrangements for leaving cars on a separate field away from the tipis.

We stopped in one of the on-site tipi's and couldn't fault it in any way.
Plenty of room for the four of us in the Tipi(2 adults and 2 young children). Electricity was available on a meter,we paid £5 which was plenty for the weekend, we had phones charging, heater on and also a laptop playing the kids favourite programs before bed and ended up with £3 left so you can tell they don't overcharge.
The wash and toilet facilities were ok, I wouldn't say they were the best in the world but what more do you need than a shower and a toilet
The lady who greeted us on arrival was very friendly and welcoming, you were made to feel at home straight away.
Its only 2miles from Scarborough centre; which is ideal. The site provided us with a brochure on Yorkshire; which was great for finding things to do with the kids. They also gave us a pizza menu for a local firm; which we used one night and really enjoyed the food and wasn't to expensive.
The only problem we had was our 4 year old daughter waking up having nightmares (first time camping), but apart from that a really nice and friendly place to stay!

Amazing site, close to Scarborough but without the hustle and bustle.
I can't think of a thing to say which would improve the facilities! It's already perfect.
Electric is on a card meter, but refunds on unused portions is given.
Great pub just down the road, the Denison Arms. Good food and beer.
We ate there every day bar one, and even though I'm a fussy eater, the menu more than enough catered for me.
If you don't ask for a 'normal' portion, then dine at your peril, the quantity is huge!
We're certainly going back, in fact, September is already booked.

Arrived on the Friday for 5 days, what a warm welcome from Dave and Kerry. A great dedicated couple who go out there way to help.
The tent site itself is separate from the tepees and caravans. 14 pitches for tents all with electric hook-up. And with metered pitches you only pay the electric you use, great idea on how to lower your carbon footprint. Also has a recycling area which should be a must at all sites.
Toilets were first class with great showers and loads of hot water. The site itself is a 'western theme' about it which kids will love.
Only 5 min drive to Scarborough town centre and in the opposite direction is the small village of east ayton which boasts a petrol station/supermarket, chemist, chippy and the denison arms who do amazing meals, (be hungry before you go the portions are huge).
We were lucky insomuch we picked a week when we got a weeks camping for 2 people for only £42. Even in peak times this campsite is very competitive compared to others in the area. Not to far away is the village of Goathland where Heartbeat is filmed, aka Aidensfield
Would highly recommend this site and again I can only praise the owners, Dave and Kerry for there kindness.

The most friendly site we have had the pleasure to stay at in 20 years of camping. Level hard standing. Good electrical supply. B
ig pitches suitable for RV's of any size, giving privacy with stunning views, yet easy to find, straight off the main road. This site is beautifully maintained by excellent hosts, Dave and Kerry.
A pleasure to be here. We have tried all the sites in this area. Pinewood is the best by miles in every way.

The Owners Kerry and Dave were very helpful and welcoming. We were shown around the site when we arrived.
The toilet block was brand new, very clean and tidy. The showers were free with running hot water. We liked the fact that there were separate areas for tents, tourers and tipees, so the site wasn't over crowded.
Overall we had a great weekend and we will be definitely be returning to Pinewood.
