Stayed here when we landed at Dover at 9pm, having driven for eight hours through France.
All we wanted was a place to crash and hopefully some decent food - and for this it was amazing! Excellent steak and beer but it is what it is - a great pub with a roaring fire, phenomenal food and a field behind it.
The facilities are extremely basic so you wouldn't want to spend the weekend here but as a place to kip just before you catch / get off the ferry, it's brilliant. Landlord is a great character too!

We stayed here for one night in early July to test out a new tent. It was great! Small camp fires are allowed, the camping field is small and has some shade, and the location is peaceful despite its proximity to the motorway. There is a stream across the field for the kids to play in and lots of open countryside.
We were allowed access to the pub toilets at any time (true, only the male toilets were accessible at night when the rest of the pub was locked up, but this was not a problem). We also had access to drinking water at any time, via a hose run out of the pub. The pub food is absolutely great and I can't recommend it highly enough.
The only downside was that the pub and its garden could do with a bit of a tidy-up in places as some bits look a bit run-down. Well worth a visit.

I stayed here for one night whilst touring the area, it costs £10 per person or you can pitch for free if you buy a meal in the pub. Food in the pub is of a very high standard and selling some nice ales.
You can only use the toilets in the pub during opening hours, there are no showers, and there is no drinking water tap.
They can provide electrical hookup by running leads out if required.
There is a Co-op in Sellinge 2 miles away

This is a pub with a small campsite round the back. Booked in at the pub and landlord nice and relaxed.Surrounding country very boggy and wet but the campsite has a paddock with a stone gravel layer under the grass which made for a very solid place to pitch a tent, a godsend when your camping in early spring.
Very isolated in location but that suited us just fine. Pub surrounded by a couple of very small Hamlets which made for some good walking. We ate in the pub both evenings which includes free pitching (which we quickly spent on beer).
The only downside was there was no shower block or toilet, though you can use the pub loo, but that was no problem for three hairy men.

We used this site as an overnight stop on the way to France via the tunnel, it is certainly convenient for this and the pub was easy to find. The road to the pub is narrow and we were very pleased that we did not meet up with any tractors!
The area is lovely with great views and walks. The pub is lovely too with nice food.
The facilities described in previous reviews remain and if anything we would say they have deteriorated, no flushing loo in the portacabin, although of course the loos in the pub are fine. We were pleased that we were in a motorhome so did not have to worry. The electric is still an extension lead, but worked fine.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Would certainly use again as an overnight stop, but would be hesitant to recommend it if you have a tent.

We stayed here for 4 nights for a short break away. We chose it because we wanted a simple campsite, that had a few facilities, but a few is more than they had. The toilet/shower unit was a porta cabin/loo. The steps up were broken, the door didn't shut, it was very dirty and no lights. I was just glad we were in a caravan, I felt sorry for anyone in a tent.
The staff were helpful and very friendly. The chickens than ran loose got inside our awning one day and ruined everything.
I enjoyed the area and the people, but the standards were quite poor, the staff at the pub did say it was a new venture and they are hoping to get new facilities next year.

Very friendly basic site with few facilities. A little concerned the electric hook ups seemed to be all on an extension lead from the pub, so when other campers turned their kettle etc on the lights in ours dimmed.
Good offer with the lovely pub - eat there and get your pitch for free for that night and it is great food.
On our last day we didn't want to leave straight away so we packed up the caravan and were given permission to leave it in the pub carpark until we were ready at no extra cost.
As I used to live in the area, it was ideal for us as we only ever used it as a base. Close to the Eurotunnel, so ideal for an overnight stop. I don't think you'd want to negotiate the approaching roads with a bigger caravan - blind bends on a single track hill etc

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a long weekend over the August Bank Holiday for 4 nights. The site is easy to find if you have a good map/sat nav, or know the area. The roads to the site are country roads, so very narrow in places and lots of blind corners.
We didn't receive any information about where to pitch our tent or the facilities on arrival. The site itself is the fields behind The Black Horse pub, and is fenced with screening for privacy at the entrance, trees to one side and open fields to the other. The price per night was £10 for a pitch (we think electric hookup is slightly more), or free if you eat in the pub. The food was very good, but don't expect the usual pub food!
The toilet/shower block (which was actually a trailer) is very basic and has no lock, and was overgrown with stinging nettles along the path, so we decided to use the pub toilets when we could, and a close family member's shower! So this was more perfect for a campervan or caravan with it's own toilet and shower. We did hear that there are plans to build a shower and toilet block for next year, and offer a cooked breakfast at the pub.
We found that although it was in a quiet location (apart from the noisy animals) that we were only 15 minutes or less to the main towns and many attractions. In the middle of nowhere, but the middle of everything!
We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely consider staying here again as long as the facilities are updated, as this was it's major downfall for us.

As we only needed a base, and all we needed was electric and water so this was ideal for us. We didn't get to use the facilities, but will be definitely staying there again - at £10pn (+£2.50 for electric) it was far cheaper than our usual Travelodge.
The electric hook up is an extension lead that goes across the site from the mains, so at busy times the lights tend to go a bit dim.
There is a kids playing area and they all seemed to be enjoying it. There's also pool tables in the pub, which seemed to be quite child friendly.
The pitches aren't marked out, it's a case of first come first serve (tents too). When we came back after a long day, someone had parked their camper van virtually on our steps (where our car had been) - not a problem but just something to be aware of when setting up your pitch

This was our first outing in our newly purchased camper. The camp site is just a field at the back of the pub, toilet block is in a mobile has one shower and one toilet with no sink. Electric hook ups are a extension lead from the pub with cables, sockets covered with a plastic bucket in case of rain. On the plus side lovely country side and nice food in the pub
