Stayed here 3rd weekend of July in small tent. The site is easy to find, mid-way between Wrexham and Chester either of which offers plenty of days out and activities, although be warned, parking in Chester is NOT cheap ! £4 for 2 hours parking !
The camping field is neat, flat and spacious and even though the owners said it was full on the Saturday night there was plenty of room, the smaller caravan field was very nice indeed and had electric points aplenty. Although the road runs right alongside the tent field it wasn't too noisy apart from the silage tractors early in the morning and that wouldn't be year round.
Damage for 2 adults in a 3 man tent over 2 nights was £16, so works out at £4 per night per adult, excellent value for money.
The washrooms were tidy and had a freezer for campers use, a potwash sink, 2 loos, one shower and a sink/vanity unit. Never had a problem with queueing and lots of hot water (free)
The pub itself is run by very pleasant owners and the food was excellent, the beer a little pricey but well kept.
Great little site, well run and centrally located for activities, thumbs up !

What a cracking little spot! Caravan/Motorhome field well laid out and spacious. Camping field nice and level. In a lovely quiet spot. The pub itself is brilliant. 3 ales on offer, decent wine list and the food is extremely good and reasonably priced. What makes this place though is the staff and owners. They are ALL so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel very welcome. Toilet/shower block is in need of renovation and is unisex - not ideal. 20 minute walk takes you to Rossett where there are a few more pubs of which the Golden Lion was very nice. Overall definitely one to return to!

Visit this fantastic pub and site after reading a review about the pub on tripadvisor, £4 a night for a tent seemed amazing and relatively close to my home for a last minute short break on the Wales/Cheshire border.
The pub is traditional but immaculate as is the rest of the site, camping field was flat and well mown relatively quiet despite two sides adjoining a busy road.
Toilet block and showers are clean and well maintained although I could not get the shower to run hot despite leaving it a few minutes, owners are incredibly helpful and informative and nothing seemed to be too much trouble, recycling points, water points are clearly laid out and visible, a charging point for phones, satnavs etc is offered free as is the use of a communal freezer, wifi is offered at a reasonable cost and very handy.
The pub offers traditional British grub of great quality and is served up to 9. 30-10ish at night.
I will definitely be returning to this site with friends in the future.

Stayed here a couple of times ideal weekend break. Quiet location. Good sun trap all day. Ideal for wrexham and chester shopping. Shower room had plenty of room, biggest I have seen, always clean and tidy. Pub serves nice meals + good beer goes down well. Road alongside, but quiet, traffic having to slow down through village. You have to book early, always full on weekends when we try and book. We shall be back again.

I would highly recommend this site. The weather was pouring with rain when we arrived, the drainage is really good and although the rain continued we were able to put the awning up.
The site has a shower and 2 toilets which is adequate for the amount of vans.
The site backs onto a lovely country pub run by Gareth and his team. They make you feel really welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
The food in the pub is outstanding, all fresh local produce cooked freshly when you order. The pub has a real oldy worldly feel about it with a fabulous old fashioned wood/range. The food is very reasonable and would recommend it highly.
The site is so quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be returning soon.

Just returned from a one night stop-over, as my OH was attending a course in Wrexham. I would echo a lot of what has already been posted(quiet location, nice pub, friendly staff etc).
However the one thing that I did not like, was the fact that all of the hook-up points are located in the one box, which is situated at the entrance to the field(this had been mentioned in a previous review). This means that, apart from the one pitch, which is close by, all of the leads need to be stretched out across the field, resulting in them being driven over by anyone entering/exiting the field. We had to use both our 25m & 10m leads on full 'stretch' just to reach and this still left the join in 'no-man's land'!
If you happen to be on the opposite side of the entrance to the box, then your lead will be laid across the gateway, which means every vehicle, will run over it. And although on arrival the owner did offer the use of a lead if we needed it, personally I think you'd need 2-3 25m leads at least, so that they could be fed around the back of the pitches. If you check out the photos on their website, you will be able to see what I mean. Of course, if you don't need/use hook-up, then it isn't an issue.

Just spent two nights at the griffin. Large grass field for 5 vans so plenty of room and not over looked. We had a meal at the Griffin on the Friday to celebrate birthday & anniversary - good food reasonably priced and well kept beer.
The area is lovely very rural. Went to Llangollen on the Saturday and up the horseshoe pass. We stopped off for something to eat at the cafe food was nice, although toilets weren't good.
Back to the site - there is a toilet and a shower room with a toilet in it - adequate if just the five vans but as there is a tent field as well it may get a bit busy in season - the owner, who was very nice and extremely helpful said they were hoping to do some work to the block in the closed season.
There is also a washing up area and a large freezer should you need to use them. All in all a fab site we will be back

A weekend away with friends. Both units being caravans. Pitches were of a large size only 5 pitches and a field for tents.
Facilities two toilets and one shower which is within one of toilets. The use of the pub toilets when open. The pub served good food ate dinner on Friday night and had Sunday breakfast.
Child friendly. On Friday it participates in beat the clock with the menu prices see their website for information.
Rossett small with couple of shops and a couple of pubs and within walking distance. Small park for the children to play in. Did a pleasant walk around the area. Very reasonable for £11 a night.

We spent 3 nights here at the end of June, and loved it! The pub itself is charming wih great beer and good food. The site is in a rural area within easy reach of Chester and Wrexham.
Chester in particular has great shopping and lots of historical sites of interest. The site is on a B road but it was not too busy (only tractors and the odd lorry) so taffic noise was not an issue.
The facilities are in a little outbuilding to the rear of the pub. There is a belfast style sink for washing up, with a draining board beside it. There is a freezer that is free to use, some power points for phone charging, and lots of tourist leaflets.
There is a handwashing basin, a separate toilet, and a shower and toilet in its own room. The shower is free to use and had endless amounts of hot water; you just needed to be handy with the squeegee that was provided as the water did not drain very well. The facilities were obviously cleaned on a daily basis and there was a mop and bucket out so you could also clean up after using the shower.
As we were there midweek (Mon - Thurs ) and outside of school hols the site was very quiet with only 3 tents on the camping field. This meant there was never a problem getting to the shower (or loo) when needed. We don't have children so we are not really able to comment personally on whether this is a child/family friendly site.
The pub staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. They even do emergency supplies of essentials for campers (batteries, eggs, tea towels. Quite a long list!). There is also an excellent camping supplies shop called Casey's just a few miles away in a very nice garden centre.
The site was excellent value for us at £8 per night (£4 per adult) and it suited our needs exactly, for a quiet low-key rural break as part of a trip through Wales. We would certainly use this site again.

What a little gem of a campsite! Arrived as Tent virgins, left as true converts. 2 Adults, 2 young kids and an infant. V family friendly, they even heated our babies bottle when ever we needed it! Dogs allowed on site, a bonus.
Weather was lousy to begin with, but cleared up. No end of camping advice from the lovely lady in the kitchen of the pub!
Campsite was not busy despite being busy Bank holiday weekend. Toilet / shower facilities were cleaned regularly during the day, not just once in the morning.
Only down side, only two toilets in the campsite, one which was with the shower. Which obviously was engaged if people using the shower. Water in the shower didn't drain away, so could leave a mess and slip hazard, but a squeegy broom thingy provided, to help with this. Free phone charging facilities and use of freezer if required.
Campsite was adjacent to main road which was fairly busy for a B road, but once we were asleep, it wasn't too much of an issue. I'm sure the caravan section was quieter as behind the pub and some bushes which would have shielded the noise.
All in all, an enjoyable stay, we shall be back! Thank you!
PS a bargain at only £12 a night, £4 each for adults, £2 each for the two kids. We paid almost that much to come up the M6 toll from London with our car and trailer!
