Just back from a two night stay.
Having read the reviews we were prepared for a basic site but even so!
Arrived and tried to find camping field - the grass was so long at the entrance that the sign was hidden. On arrival at camping field all pitches are steep and grass very long. Wasn't ideal - particularly this morning in the rain. One short trip to the toilet block and shoes ended up soaked through.
Showers basic - didn't mind 'tin roof and cobbled together from stuff from the farm' feel, but wasn't impressed with no drainage and standing in half a foot of water from my shower whilst trying to shower and dry self and a rowdy 3 year old while water floods out to the ante-shower area that is supposed to be dry!
Washing up facilities adequate, used the undercover one and there was plenty of hot water.
First night there was us, 3 other tents and 2 resident caravans (apparently staff). Second night about 4 touring caravans arrived. Despite this, facilities were never cleaned once. Don't think they've been cleaned all year. There is a new toilet block half way up the field (new for this year) we had to ask for the water to be switched on so the toilet would flush but they wouldn't turn on the water to the showers. Despite being new, this wasn't clean either. Several months of dead insect life in the hand basin.
Kids play area was decent enough and seeing the chickens, donkey and sheep took up an interesting 10 mins, but even my animal keen 3 year old didn't want to bother with a second viewing.
Got the distinct feeling that the guests in the surf pods and cottages had a very different experience.
Location was ideal for visiting Bude which is approx 5 minute drive, but downside is A39 runs along the top of the camping fields so traffic noise all night. Lidl and Morrisions about 3 minute drive.
All in all, won't be rushing back!

Stayed last year in September. Ground was damp and there is a sloping gradient so I slid a bit.
I had a good rest. I was alone no one else was there. Facilities were good but basic. Line of toilet sheds. Washing sink showers. Clean. Everything worked ok.
The site is close to a coastal road so I could hear some traffic but only occasionally and it wasn't heavy.
Bude by bike is 10 minutes away. Down a hill which is not challenging but gears are useful. Bude has a Morrisons.
As the website says it's a proper camp site. Grass sun the wind sun mud if it's wet.
It's not a holiday park. Urgh and I hope to go back again.

Having read some of the sites negative reviews here, it was with trepidation that we booked for a three day break on this site to visit Bude. Both of us have worked at camp sites in the UK and abroad as wardens and are used to the expectations and comments of clients, ranging from the sensible and practical to the unrealistic, and in a lot of cases, extremely unfair.
Expecting the worst, we found it easily, were impressed with the beautifully planted entrance drive to the site and nice welcome from the owner. Okay, for those of us who like to be pampered, you won't find that here. You won't have lots of pamphlets throughst into your hand and a 30 minute briefing of where everything is! Lets face it, you never remember half of it anyway, and the pamphlets end up not being read. We were left to find our own way to the non electric pitch, and once there found it to be really spacious, on a shallow slope. Lovely views of surrounding countryside, and a practical if very basic toilet and shower block. Tip for those who have reported negatively on having cold showers - they get cold because of safety electric cut outs when the pressure of water reduces, particularly in mornings where the main toilets and showers down hill are being used, leaving little to find its way uphill to the block serving the higher pitches. Not difficult to work out, if they don't heat up, go to the bottom block - simple. We weren't bothered by anyone, staff or otherwise - okay, as wardens ourselves we enjoy chatting to clients, giving them local information when requested, having a laugh, being seen around the site etc, BUT this site is extremely well priced, without bells and whistles, and offers basic, efficient amenities, provided you are not expecting hotel service, and can use your own eyes to locate facilities! Good atmosphere, met some lovely people there, and will definitely visit again, because we love Bude!

As a family of 3, 2 adults & 1 child, we have just come back from our second 2 week stay at West Grove Farm campsite. We have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about this site, it is a fabulous place to stay & you are left alone to get on with things but if you need any help with anything at all then there is always somebody about to help. Peter, the owner, is a lovely guy & very accommodating. The showers & toilets are always clean & tidy, each pitch is quite a size & will accommodate any size of tent, there is a small shop on site for any essentials plus there is a shell craft shop where you can make your own small animals out of shells or cover either a photo frame or wooden trinket box with shells that have come from all over the world. It's brilliant. & there is a small cafe as well. Our 10 year old son always makes loads of friends of all ages & we all never like our last day before coming home as we know we will miss the place & the people. I can't understand why people put bad reviews about the place as we can't find anything wrong with this campsite. There is always toilet paper in the loos & I have only ever had one cold shower in the two years we have been coming here plus there is plenty of washing up sinks that all have hot water & it's the cheapest place to stay that we have come across so far ! We can't wait until we are back there again next year. & I can't stress enough what a good campsite it is.

Having booked the Camping site with ease through the website I was subsequently contacted by Peter (Site Owner), providing confirmation and useful details regarding arrival and the site. My Sat Nav pinpointed the site perfectly, using the coordinates and not post code as advised. The entrance is well signed off the Atlantic Highway. The road into the main field is wide enough to easily pass others. We were lucky enough to have several friends made on previous visits staying the same time in the school holidays. All pitches are of a very generous size, with no risk of over-crowding during more busy periods. This is our third visit. The site is being constantly improved and already has 20+ new hookups, provides a fresh-water drinking outlets, a fully plumbed toilet block and three heated showers, ample sinks with loads of hot water, and wifi- This is the real rustic camping experience which our family loves, with those little conveniences to make life easier. Peter is a top bloke, just a call away if you need anything - Nothing is too much trouble, visiting the site frequently to replenish stocks and carry out any required maintenance. The site location is ideal, very rural, yet just a 5 minute drive from the town and sea-front (or 20 mins. Walk for the more ambitious. ) Bude has two beaches and another three nearby, we always go to Summerlease for the children. We had a week, and access to the town and the rest of Cornwall is simple and fast from the site. In conclusion, we enjoyed a great stay again from all angles, highly recommended to camper's. Our daughter loved the owners dog Tess and spent hours taking it for walks.

This has to be the worst campsite in Cornwall !
We were asked to phone when we were on site, we did just that someone said they would be with us in a few minutes to show us around ! To this day we are still waiting.
We did find our pitch, we had asked for a quit part of the site. We were right next to the road into the camping field ! No one came, so we rang again. This time no answer.
So we pitched our tent anyway.
On needing to fill the water bottle I was greeted by a very large pile of smelly rubbish about 5m away. And on one occasion even the dustbin men refused to take it !
Now on the web site the pictures and wording are, to my way of thinking, very misleading, There is Only one washing up sink ! That has Hot water, the other three are out doors in the open, and do Not have Hot water only cold.
We are a family of four two adults and two mid teen girls. We all had to have a Cold shower, as none of the showers had hot water to them when we used them, we even got back early one day to beet the rush, I had a cold shower that day.
The toilets were by no means good. Badly fitting doors, so you could see who and what anyone was doing through the gaps
You could not wash your hands in hot water afterwards, some only had a cold tap, as well as no hand towels.
We had a email a few days before to say we needed to take our own toilet paper.
One of the Toilets had a 12' square hole in the roof, All of which Had tin roofs the was second hand from the farm buildings I would think and fitted badly.
We left this campsite two days early as we were all Very fed up with it, NOT as web site, and cost us more than the other site we had come from.
Never again at this site.

Stayed at this caravan site for one night. Good access from A39. Could not find a reception so I drove onto the pitch area. I spoke to a man working in toilets and he pointed me to a house where I met the owner who was pleasant and said set up anywhere. Large pitches on grass which was a bit long. The toilets, showers and dish washing sinks are in wooden sheds and are clean and adequate. There is a climbing slide for children. The site is handy for touring the area and with Bude close to it, good for shops.

Was really looking forward to our holiday as this site looked lovely. Booking was easy but payment up front was requested. We definitely prefer to pay deposit and balance on arrival when we have seen the site! On arrival we found the site to be quite slopping and we needed blocks under the legs to level things up considerably. Units on the site were constantly coming and going so lots of traffic moving around. Toilets didn't have good lighting and there was no hot water or hand towels. Showers ran out of hot water very early in the day and were very basic. The feelings and ideas you get from the website is definitely different to what you actually get. There is however a reasonable play area for children and a handy shop on site. We unfortunately had to finish our holiday early. This was discussed with the owner who assured us that they would be able to fill our pitch and to find them before we left. Amazingly no one was around on our departure day, no phone calls were answered or returned and no answer at the reception. We are still waiting for replies to emails and messages. Overall a very expensive disappointing holiday

The staff were only too happy to help. The price was unbelievably low and I can't help thinking that this may alter when the owners realise quite what a gem they have here.
A real joy one evening was being able to order chilli con carne and a jacket spud for just £3 and have it delivered to your pitch - this isn't a regular thing but I've no doubt that it could become so in the future.
Atlantic's location made it easy to get out and about, easy to walk into Bude via the industrial estate (as you leave the lane you have a choice of turning right and walking directly into Bude or continuing straight on and along the canal/river which eventually takes to to the beach).
We were located at the top end of the site which I later discovered wasn't intended to be put into use this year but the owners decision was swayed by the weather. I was also advised that he intends to put water, loos and showers at that end soon.
Go visit - remember you get what you pay for and this site was worth every penny.
Some visitors leave negative reviews of this site, I think they all fail to recognise that this is a growing site.
While we were there, additional lighting was installed in the facilities block and additional washing up facilities were in the process of being installed.
I also discovered a washing machine and tumble drier and although they appeared to be new they did not appear to be yet commissioned.

Just returned from 2 nights here. Wonderful little site. If you want all the trimmings then this isn't for you. There are 4 basic toilets and a couple of showers all enclosed in little wooden huts so fairly basic - but very clean. 1 Washing up sink. No lights at night so bring a torch and obviously no laundry facilities for drying clothes/towels etc but at £15 per night over a bank holiday weekend with electric - I think that's good value. Some noise from the main road but you can live with that. No designated dog walk area but lots of walks out of the site. My only picky point is the lack of signage around when you arrive. You need to go to the main house (marked private) and the owners will sort you out.
You can walk to Bude via the industrial estate road - takes about 25 minutes all told. Leave the site, take a right back up to the Bude and Stratton Industrial park, into the park, take a right and find the little wooden fence lane on the left, follow it to the next road, then right then left and you're on the main road to Bude.
We will return here again as it's clean, cheap and handy for visiting our daughter and the grandchildren who all live nearby.
However no hard standing and on a slope so blocks needed and wouldn't use this site in wet weather as suspect it gets waterlogged and the toilets would flood. However for fairweather camping - an absolute little gem!
