We found Lakeside online and it sounded ideal. The directions are clear and the site is well signposted. Every pitch is large and flat, having picnic tables is good and saves having to take tables and chairs with you. We hadn't been there long and the owner came to see if everything was okay. The other owner visited us the next morning, bringing us a parasol as it was nice and sunny and some paddles for the dinghy. We had the site to ourselves and it was lovely, weather permitting we will be returning next week.

Just returned from this wonderful site. This is our first visit, but certainly not our last. Booked to return in July. A friendly welcome from Hugh on our arrival. The site is very peaceful and tranquil, and the wildlife is amazing. The site is spotless, with plenty of picnic benches and umbrellas. As said previously, there is a toilet and one shower, which was spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water.
Would love to keep this gem of a site to myself, but thought I would do a review so other can enjoy it too.

A real find! We spent an idyllic relaxing weekend at this really well maintained site which even has shower & toilet (a luxury we are not used to on rallies!) and all well kept/clean. Would suggest a shelf in the shower room but hey, it was a fabulous plus.
The pitches are sited between a lily pad laden lake with it's very watchable wildlife & a river - wonderfully soothing. Use of a rowing boat added to the enjoyment as the weather was great and with only 7 units on site, everyone had the chance to play pirate/royalty! Owners are extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Picnic tables, fire baskets, etc. Fantastic personal attention from Huw made everyone feel welcome. A further water tap, if possible on the opposite side of site, would be beneficial.
If you want to get away from it all and get back to nature, this is the site! Take all your necessities with you and you need never leave for the weekend.

We booked our pitch very late at the start of the May bank holiday and were lucky enough to have the site all to ourselves for the first two days. Although it reached its maximum capacity at the end of our four day stay. However it never felt crowded and we never had to queue for the single loo and shower, which, although it is housed in a little shed, felt clean and warm with soft loo paper and unlimited hot water. The pitches are very spacious with adult and child picnic tables and an umbrella for each pitch. They also have shared dustbins, which are emptied daily. All the pitches are situated round a pretty lake with a sturdy rowing boat, which our four children enjoyed, collecting tadpoles and generally 'Swallows and Amazons'ing on the water! A light in the shower and loo would be an added bonus, but didn't mar our enjoyment of this delightful little site. It was also lovely that a free fire pit was included in the very reasonable price.

Yet again another warm welcome from the owners at this wonderful site. After a stressful week at work this was the only place we wanted to go to unwind in peace and tranquillity.
We have visited this site for the past 3 years as often as we can, and only the owner can improve on perfection, subtle changes to the site only add to its charm and character.
The lake is mature and a welcome home to wildlife who, in turn, provide your entertainment for your stay. A recent attraction being a pair of geese and 5 gosling's! I cannot state how picturesque each pitch is, we have stayed on various pitches (which are all flat, spacious and provided with a picnic bench) and are unable to pick a favourite.
The addition of a small shower unit is welcome as we are now able to extend our stay, and enjoy all the sites west Wales has to offer.
If you want to unwind, wildlife watch, go fishing, paddle in a river, enjoy a log fire and row a boat on the lake, look no further, if you want to party, camp with luxury, expect to be entertained, receive wifi or a signal for your mobile then look elsewhere this site is not for you!
Looking forward to the next stages of the site, and watch it grow (not too much though) and to our next stay which we hope to be soon and longer.

Stayed at this little gem of a site for the first time this weekend. Lovely views from all pitches nice to just sit and relax by the lake, tables bbqs and fire pits are all supplied by the lovely owners Hugh and nicola who can't do enough for you. Enjoyed so much that we have booked for later this year. Lots of places to visit from this site. Local shops are good Co op, chip shop and a few pubs localy.

We have just got back from this wonderful tranquil place.
It is a great place to unwind and enjoy the back to basics life. Within good travelling distance for the shops and beaches.
Good WC and shower facilities, fresh free range eggs delivered to your door by a very friendly and helpful site owner.
A good place for the kids to get some fresh air and to see the wildlife.
Highly recommended and we will go back!
Looking up at the stars of a night time with no street light pollution, as lighting a lovely fire and watching the world go by and not watching the clock.

Well I have tried to avoid doing this LOL. But I do feel I have to.
What a lovely little site. We first stayed @ lakeside in may 2011 and returned twice since. It is really peaceful here it only has one toilet and one shower but have never found this to be a problem and they are kept spotles. Very large pitches it has a lovely lake for you fisherman, the children can feed the ducks or paddle around in your own dinghy. Campfires allowed brilliant, no play area for children not a problem for me mine are grown up. But my two dogs love the idea of having their own play area (field with activities). Its about 1. 5 miles to the nearest shop, Pub, village and not the best of roads to walk. 4 miles to pendine beach. I hope this helps I check on reveiws for every thing. If you want bright lights club house you wont find it here. Thought I should give a reveiw want to keep it to myself my husband and the our girls. (Dogs)very good value for money. I can see improvements all the time keep up the good work Huw, Nichola, and family.

We spent a very enjoyable weekend at this site. It is very easy to find, the owners are very friendly and helpful, the campsite is really pretty, it has a lovely lake, complete with ducks and fish.
The wildlife around the site is great, lots of wild birds we got to watch a buzzard teaching her little one to fly which was fascinating.
The amenities are basic, but this wasn't a problem.
The pitches are very generous and each one comes with a barbeque and oil drum so you can really enjoy the evening with a fire, the kids had a great time roasting marshmallows.
If it is all the mod cons you want then you wont get it here, but if you want to camp in a stunning location with nature on your doorstep then give it a go, we will definitely use it again.
It is also an ideal base for places like Oakwood park, Manor house wildlife park, tenby, heatherton etc etc.

This peaceful idyllic site is a little piece of paradise in Carmarthenshire.
Large roomy pitches overlooking the beautiful lake and surrounded by the river. Each pitch also has a large fire pit provided, a large BBQ (in case you don't have your own)and 2 picnic benches one adult size and one children's.
Their facilities on site are perfect but basic and do not spoil the surrounding area.
The owner is definitely one of the nicest campsite owners we have ever met. Where else would someone come and find you when you are lost ( forgot my directions!) and bring you to the site, empty your bin daily for you and even go and do your shopping for you as long as you provide the list.
Children will love it here, no rules and regulations just fresh air, fishing in the lake or paddling in the river, even an old fashioned rope swing and foraging for firewood for your campfire.
Could not find fault with this site ate all. If you love back to basics camping in beautiful surroundings with friendly people and somewhere you can fish for Trout for your supper then go there you will not be disappointed.
