The owners John and Gaynor were so kind and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, a real genuine and fun couple, with 2 adorable and friendly Great Danes.
We stayed on the Super Pitch which was wonderful and completely secure so the dog could go out when she wanted to, and it’s huge!
The site has a lovely toilet - with permanently hot water for hand washing 🎉 and a washing machine and dryer (which I didn’t use, but I’m sure would be very useful.
Personally having the dog walking field on site was a huge bonus, though there is a lovely footpath outside that runs past the fields which is a lovely stroll with or without a dog.
The positioning of the site is lovely, quiet and in the countryside, yet near to anything you might need. We had a wonderful day out at Freeport with the dog, the majority of shops are dog friendly (she had more fuss and treats than I thought was possible in a day!) We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times previously and love this site. Clean, quiet with great facilities, exercise field, off road walks and bath for dogs.
This time it’s under new management and I want to say they have been kindness itself as I’ve had serious camper problems and really needed help and advise before I can hit the road again tomorrow.
Thank you John and Gayla x
Only giving 8 for site facilities simply because there is no shower available

Very peaceful and tranquil.
Lots of lovely dog walks including from site.
Facilities excellent and very clean.
Managers were very friendly and extremely helpful. They also own two of the sweetest Great Danes! My dog loved them.
Dog park is large and they can go off lead.
Spent three wonderful weeks there and very sad to leave.

Had a really lovely stay for 1 night at the Golden Grove Caravan Park in Braintree.
What made it the most was Gaynor and John who run the site, absolutely lovely people who were so kind and helpful (and their beautiful Great Dane dogs).
Because of them we look forward to returning as soon as we are able. Thank you Gaynor and John.

Fantastic stay over the weekend. Gay or and John were so kind and helpful and their beautiful dogs were incredibly well behaved.
We were travelling with friends and were given adjacent pitches with plenty of room(we had the field to ourselves!).
We popped out for the evening and there were solar lights placed in front of our pitches so we could easily find our way back. Very thoughtful and helpful.
Beautiful, quiet campsite and stunning night sky.

We stayed st Golden Grove as it is close to family who were visiting. It is a beautifully kept site, each pitch has its own electric point and water tap.
The owner Julie was on site to greet us, explained the facilities of which there are many, secure dog field with a horsebox with chairs and drinks provided for dog owners, a kitchen with wash up sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, fridge also a full supply of items for sale, bread, milk, tea, coffee and much more!
After being shown to our pitch Julie kindly offered us a drink and delivered a g&t and a beer, wow, wonderful service way over our expectations. Thank you to Julie and the team.
We will definitely return to Golden Grove.

This is a wonderful place. We can only repeat what everyone else has already said. The site is easy to get to. There are no scary narrow roads. It is very secure with a coded entry.
The pitches are large, nicely laid out with hardstanding, electricity and water. Lovely wooden cabin, spotlessly clean with piping hot water, washing machine, drier and, recently, a “shop” providing tinned foods, a little fridge with fresh goods and they also can supply frozen meats etc. Extremely handy if you have forgotten anything or end up staying longer than you originally intended.
Welcomes dog owners with a dedicated walk area and a dog wash. Doesn’t have a shower but does have a toilet. How many sites has anyone stayed at where you can actually describe the elsan point as beautiful? Well this one is.
The whole site has planting and little touches that make it just so nice to be there. Julie, who runs it, could not be more welcoming and helpful. Lives full time on the site so she is always there if anything is needed so much better than some places where you can have difficulty finding the owner if you have a problem or question.
I will comment that, if like us you are in a motorhome without any alternative transport, there is no where to go in the immediate area. The local pub is now housing. However it is a marvelous opportunity to just chill out and watch the sheep. We thoroughly recommend a visit.
(I have given the site location 9/10 simply because it would be nice to walk to a local pub/cafe however I would rate all the other categories 15/10 if I could)

Hidden gem excellently managed with a personal touch. A friendly and welcoming site that offers a helpful and happy vibe. Lots of little extras make such a difference.
The large dog run with agility course. A lovely heat controlled dog shower that is at waist level so you don’t have to bend.
A toilet, comfortably decorated and containing a variety of cleansers, anti-bacterials and hand creams, a cabin offering all sorts of goodies including laundry facilities and a mini shop. And lots of nook and cranny seating areas dotted around. Spotlessly clean. Lovely big pitches that have peaceful outlooks over a sheep field.
We will definitely spend more time enjoying this peaceful little site.

We booked 4 nights and ended up extending our stay.
We loved the site and it's surroundings, the dog paddock, the recycling set up, the wonderful washing machine room and most of all the very warm welcome (with a nice cold beer on arrival) from Julie. Great host, very helpful.

Nicest camp site I have ever stayed on.
I cannot praise this camp site highly enough.
My friend and I stayed whilst competing our dogs in Working trials near by.
Excellent facilities for dogs.
Lovely loo, clothes washing room. Beautiful roomy pitches.
Julie who met us, thinks of everything …even offered us a G & Tonic upon our arrival.
It is more like being a personal guest than a punter. 👏👏👏
