This is a lovely site. The owners made us very welcome and were extremely helpful. The toilet and shower facilities were exceptional. The village of Hambye has everything you need for everyday supplies with large supermarkets a short drive away. There is a lovely beach 20 minutes away, although dogs need to be on a leash. We would definitely recommend Camping aux Champs if you want a quiet friendly site.

I can only totally agree with the other reviews. This ia a lovely quiet CL type adult only site in the countryside. Just 3 other units during the week we stayed.
Easy to find with the instructions and the sat nav.
I must admit we struggled to get up the gravel drive, The front wheel drive tag axle had most of the weight on the back with a scooter on it, took off the bike and no more clutch smoke and spinning wheels.
Obviously getting out was straight forward even with a 9m vehicle
The grass area at the bottom of the site near the trees is pretty level so we did not need to use any chocks.
The toilet facilities are spotless and well maintained with a male, a female toilet and a shower.
Mike and Dianne are very helpful and friendly and obviously have a vast amount of knowledge of the area.
As has been mentioned easy reach of Le Mont St Micheal which is almost a 'must visit'. We decided against going to the D Day beaches
As we felt we should pick a campsite closer to them and this site we ideal for visiting the local towns and markets.
This is a great site if you want somewhere quiet to chill out and relax

Just back from a visit to this lovely small CL type site in the heart of the Normandy countryside. Owners Mike & Diane were very friendly and welcoming and Sam the Dog was the star of the show!
The journey from Zeebrugge was motorway all the way apart from the last couple of miles and the site was easy to find. It is a reasonably level grass field with six pitches with electric hook up. There is also a static caravan which I believe can be hired. The facilities included male and female toilets, one shower and washing up facilities - all kept absolutely spotless.
The D-day beaches, Bayeaux and Mont-St-Michel were all within an hours drive and there looked to be some nice walking in the area although we did not get the chance to do any as the weather was just too hot. The village of Hambye is about a mile away and has a couple of bakeries and a butcher. There is a Tabac but the only other restaurant has recently closed so it's a fairly quiet place of an evening. All in all if you like a quiet, well priced, adult only site with a friendly welcome then Camping Aux Champs fits the bill.

We returned here this year for the fourth time and the standards are still excellent. Spotless loo, shower and washing up facilities and a spacious lawned pitching area. Mike and Diane are really welcoming and helpful hosts.
While there are the famous tourist attractions of Normandy don't miss the local villages and sites. If you like walking Gavray tourist Office has a collection of walks that are not to be missed.
We hope to return again and look forward to seeing the progress of Mikes vegetable garden

We have now been to this site three times. The owners, Mike & Dianne are brilliant and are very helpful. The facilities are always clean and the site is just great if you want peace. It is an easy drive from Caen. Its position is great for touring this part of Normandy. Hambye is a quiet village and the ancient Hambye Abbey is well worth a visit. There is a good supermarket about 5 miles away. Just the place to unwind.

Mike and Diane are lovely people who make you feel so welcome. The site is quiet and the facilities are very clean.
We stayed 3 nights in June and we would recommend to anyone.
We booked after reading the positive comments on this site and we were not disappointed.
The site is out in the country, getting to Granville and other coastal areas was easy. Hambye offers all the basic needs and larger supermarkets are close by.
If you want a totally relaxing holiday you can not go wrong here, we will go back

This site is a little gem, we were made to feel so welcome, the shower and toilets are spotless (a special treat on such a small site) the owners Mike and Diane were fantastic and couldn't help us enough, we wanted to go to Paris for a few days and they gave us good advice about trains, tickets etc, the local village of Hambye is lovely and the people friendly. I would recommend this site to anyone visiting Normandy its central location is perfect and the area beautiful, the site has enough room for about 10 vans or motor homes, the electric is sufficient for all your needs and it's adult only. PERFECT.

Camping Aux Champs is a lovely quiet and peaceful site in the depths of the glorious Normandy countryside
We stayed at this campsite for 2 weeks august this year. I can truthfully say we had a wonderful time.
Mike and Diane, the owners, couldn't do enough for the people on site, and were always ready to stand and pass the time of day. The standards are excellent. Spotless loo, shower and washing up facilities. A spacious pitching area with welcoming and helpful owners
The area is extremely picturesque with lovely small villages and the site is a good centre for reaching many of the tourist attractions of Normandy. We can thoroughly recommend it. This campsite is within easy reach of major tourist attractions such as D Day beaches, Bayeux, Caen etc.
We couldn't have wished for anything better.

We can only agree with the other very positive reviews of this excellent little site. We stayed there for three nights at the end of July, immediately after arriving for our three week holiday in France. The drive from Cherbourg was very straightforward, and we were delighted with our first impressions of the site - very peaceful and with spotlessly clean facilities. We enjoyed being there so much that we booked to stay there for the last couple of nights of our holiday, and were again extremely pleased.
The area is lovely - typically verdant and rolling Normandy countryside, with delightful villages. Hambye has a butcher, two excellent bakeries, a very well-stocked and friendly small supermarket, and a pleasant bar/restaurant. The abbey at Hambye is well worth a visit, as is the convenient town of Coutances, with its very impressive church, superbly manicured park, and access to larger retail facilities.
The owners, Mike and Dianne, are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and have created a very tranquil haven at this site. We look forward to returning on our next visit to la belle France.

This was our first trip to France with the caravan and chose this area due to it being near to family, we were not disappointed. The surrounding area is lovely countryside with many attraction within an hours drive such as Le Mount St Michel (well worth a visit). We always stay on CL sites in the UK so knew what to expect from a small site, this site is one of the best sites we have ever stayed on with spotlessly clean toilets and shower, well kept field and owners that are the most friendly we have come across, always happy to help out with advise, and we even had drinks with them on a few evenings we enjoyed thier company so much. We hope to return to Aux Champs soon.
