Beautiful location next to one of the harbours, although not so easy to get to through the narrow streets of St Malo.
The campsite did not respond to our attempt at booking online. Fortunately there was a place when we arrived!

Pleasant, helpful staff and clean, mown pitches. There is a specific area set aside for backpackers and cycle tourists, which is nice. Pitches are sheltered from the wind by hedges and trees.
There is a free freezer for cold packs and charging points for phones. Washing, showers and loo facilities are clean and well-maintained. Note that you will need to bring your own toilet paper.
Site was generally quiet but people were woken up on a couple of occasions by some clown shouting in the middle of the night.
Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and some fantastic coastal scenery.
Loved it.

Sent an email to this camping days before we were due to arrive. No reply from this camping. When I turned up I was told campervans only! Location appeared to be good. Nice neighbourhood. Suitable for ferry connections. Nearest camping difficult to navigate. We went instead to a camping near the Barage which is a tidal generating station on the road to Dinan.
Thanks!

We were not sure what to expect from this site as there seemed to be mixed reviews but we were quite pleased with it. It is a massive site but was very quiet. This surprised us as it is quite close into Saint Malo. The campsite ii in an area called Alet and is quite pretty in it's own right. It is high up on a hill on a peninsular that juts out into the sea. You can walk right around it and there are quite a number of bars and cafes around. The grass on the site was a bit overgrown but not too bad. We were in a cul de sac and there were no other vans near us. The showers are not bad but are exposed to the open air so a bit cold, however, the water was warm. They seemed clean. We had to pay 3 euros for water though which was a bit annoying as we paid 22 euros per night for our pitch.
You can walk into town along the water in around 20 to 30 minutes. Saint Malo is a lovely walled city. You can walk around the walls and see all around. There are loads of little cobbled streets with lots of bars and restaurants. You can walk across to a little island when the tide is low which we did although they charge 5 euros to get into the fort, which we didn't!
All in all we think it is a good site for a couple of nights to see Saint Malo. We had dinner and a few drinks at Cunninghams bar just 5 minute walk from the campsite.

Stayed here once before in 2004 and wasn't very impressed to be honest. However, it's in a wonderful location and within walking distance of the old town. I travelled in using my car, parking at the Ibis on the prom and moving into the car park by the east walls around 7pm and 7am, when it's free.
This time I really enjoyed my stay. I found my own pitch at the top of the site with a strained view of the harbour, but what I really enjoyed was the breeze. After my mozzie experience at Mont St Michel, this was a mozzie-free experience. :-)
The grass was good and I had the shade of a tree for most of the day, without being camped under it. Water was a few yards away and the toilet facilities were excellent a few hundred yards away. I used them on my way to and from the gate.
Staff were pleasant and there's a night caretaker who locks the gate at 11pm and opens it again at 7am. I had to leave my motorcycle outside on my first visit.
My stay was excellent and I'm sure I'll use the site again in future.

This was our second stay on this site and we love it! Excellent for visiting the old town of St Malo and the lovely beaches (take a walk across the causeway to the little island at low tide). Also ideal for travelling west along the coast to Cap Frehel, Forte La Latte and St Cast Le Guildo ( All three well worth a visit). The site itself has a WW2 monument, with fortifications & guns still in situ. We didn't book, but we found one of the last remaining pitches, and although it was on a slope we had an excellent sea view. Staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke English well. Showers & toilets were always clean and always had plenty of hot water. Plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance, and the bakers van drives round the site every morning.
St Malo ferry port about a mile away, so this site is very handy for the last few nights before getting the ferry home. Don't make the same mistake we made last year and assume that this beautiful town is just a ferry port. Well worth spending a few days exploring the North Britanny Coast!

Arrived about 12ish so nobody in reception so went onto the site and picked a spot. Magnificent views dependant on where you picked. Across to Dinard one way or across the harbour to the wonderful citadel town the other. Reception opened later, run by a couple of teenagers, who tried to get me to move to another part of the site but my refusal was acepted gracefully as I had my awning up etc. Electric was both two pin and three pin so adaptor wasn't needed. Facilities were excellent. Showers, toilets all being very clean but unisex so don't be too freaked out by women using the same toilet cubicles as men, not at the same time, stupid.
Touring in the area was absolutely superb. Lovely coastal roads and villages, Mont St. Michel is a must so is Dinan. Beautiful area to explore and very close to channel ports. The harbour had a few tall ships. Parking was very cheap, so was the superb cider. Buy your petrol at Carrefore on the centre commercial. Hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere else. The only thing that worried me here was on exiting the site at any time you follow the one way system to the quay and go through a narrow chicane to the road out of town. Do they stop for you. Do they heck. Especially the females. They tended to take the middle line and stick to it. Luckily I got through with my caravan when nobody else was about but I was concerned. Highly recommendable at 17 euros a night

We have stayed at this site a few times before and have always found it to be very handy for the town of St Malo.
It is a municipal site located on a small peninsula above the town. It is not that easy to access but if you follow the signs on the approach to St Malo then you should have little problems.
The facilities are good if you don't use your own but it can be very crowded during the French holiday season in August. We have never booked and have always found a pitch. These are very varied and you will be allocated a pitch to suit the size of your outfit. Campers are mixed with vanners and motor vanners and although it can be crowded it is not too noisy. The main advantage is that you are close to the walled town which has many great eating places and you can walk round the harbour.
Well worth a visit.
