What a little gem Lindens Farm is.
We wanted a small 5-van site, no children, maybe a bit of fishing and generally just a chance to chill out for 2 days/nights away from our busy lives.
This location was within 45 minutes drive, and seemed to tick all the boxes.
It's like a little oasis of peace and tranquility.
Although there is traffic noise from the A1, it's not too intrusive. We were able to pitch our motorhome round the far side of the lake, away from the other 4 vans on site, which was just perfect. All of the pitches surround the lake, ideal whether you want to fish or just enjoy watching the wildlife around the lake. And the area itself is surrounded by high grassy banks, so you do feel in your own little world.
We walked to the local pub, took our dogs for walks into the nearby villages, and basically just relaxed whatever the weather.
The toilet was in the process of being knocked down, so we can't give feedback on that. There will be a new toilet and shower when all completed. It was quite a trek to the CDP and water point, but fortunately only need to do it once a day (but then we were at the furthest point of the lake). The site is extremely secure, so much so we felt comfortable leaving fishing equipment outside of the unit when we went offsite and overnight.
Re: the fishing. Wether you use bread or luncheonmeat you will catch a varied bag of coarse fish. To try and get one of the elusive bigger carp out of the water needs slightly more effort. This small lake is well stocked with a good range of coarse fish.
Roy is really friendly and helpful, checking up that we were all settled and OK but without being in our faces. All in all, it suited us perfectly, so we will return.
Value for money? If you fish, yes - £13 per day/night to include fishing, electric, and a soon to be built shower isn't bad. But perhaps if you don't fish and don't wish to use electric you may feel it's overpriced.
