 This site is in a beautiful setting with only 2 rural lanes passing it so it is very quiet.
There are a few electric hook ups at the top of the site, the middle is left clear to allow space for children to play. Apart from the top few pitches the rest of the site is sloping - think carefully before you pitch! The grass is in good condition and soil is pretty stone free.
We really enjoyed being able to rent a brazier and relax around an open fire in the evenings. The charge of £5 a night which included a bag of wood was very reasonable.
The site was quite full on the Bank Holiday weekend that we visited which resulted in a few queues for the 2 toilets, 3 showers and 2 wash hand basins. Tokens costing 50p need to be bought from reception for the showers and hair dryer. This gives 3 minutes of warm, powerful shower water. The washing up area has 2 sinks, but the water pressure is extremely poor and we ended up boiling water at the tent instead. While the toilet block is adequate, it was spoilt by a strong smell of drains which was present for the duration of our stay. I have tried to find out if this is unusual but have not received a reply from the owners. It was extremely unpleasant and would stop us from visiting again if we knew that this was not unusual.

We have just returned from a week at Beanhill Farm. We're a family of five - two adults, three children aged 12, 10 and 9 and were with another family. This is our 6th year of camping.
I can honestly say that Beanhill ticks all the boxes for my ideal campsite. It's a large field with ample space for children to play cricket or fly kites in the centre where we can keep an eye on them. The facilities were always clean and although I was a bit concerned about them being unisex it was never an issue. One thing that isn't clear on their website is that the showers cost 50p but it is token rather than coin operated - so remember to buy tokens before reception closes! It's also rare to find a campsite that allows braziers (rented from the campsite) and EHU.
We had EHU so were at the top of the field in a marked pitch. The pitches are generous - we have a Royal Pescara which is a huge tent and it fitted on perfectly. With the EHU we had our own tap, I'm not sure where the non-EHU campers got their water from.
There is plenty to do in the area, we spent a day at Puzzlewood, took a steam train on the Forest of Dean heritage line and walked for miles in the forest. We also spent a day at Cinderford hospital as my son broke his collarbone on the first day - not part of the usual tourist trail but the staff there were lovely. The campsite is close to Lydney with both a large Co-op and a Tesco for shopping.
My only really, really tiny niggle is that the washing up sink isn't well lit - there is a light near to it but not close enough, and there isn't anywhere to hang a lantern. Otherwise, I can't fault it. We will return next summer to do everything we missed this year.

What a real gem!
This site is what family camping is all about. We stayed for a weekend with two other families and had a wonderful time.
There is one large beautifully mown grassy field with electric hook ups at the top, these are the only marked pitches which gives tenters the freedom of the field with the proviso that the centre is left open for children (and grown up children) to play in. The field does slope but as long as you are careful where you pitch you should be fine.
Toilets and showers are immaculately clean however showers are not included in the pitch price (£22) and are 50p extra. Eggs are available to purchase on site and there's a decent pub (real ale, food and play area) within walking distance. The site is adjacent to a fishery with some lovely streams and pools which the children loved to walk around looking for wildlife. There is also a frisbee-golf course, although we didn't give this a go.
The site is very rural and clearly lovingly cared for by the very friendly and helpful owners. Fire bowls with a bag of wood are available to hire to complete the camping experience.
As the review below says why it is £3 per night cheaper for a caravan with ehu than a tent with ehu is a mystery but all in all thoroughly recommended.

This is a super little site, I can safely say it is welcoming, right from the booking, hassle free and owners available if you need any help. Not often can you find a site that has elec hook-up and camp fires allowed (for hire at reasonable price of £5).
Toilets and showers clean and lovely and powerful. The location is fabulous, with safe walks around the campsite - short, but outstanding beauty and wildlife. Cannot fault the site, pitching on grass is fabulous and well maintained. Children can play in the centre of the field, whatever age (all ages were playing when we were there) and can safely watch them from the comfort of your pitch.
Plenty to do in the area and can walk to local pub. I couldn't understand why a tent is £3 per night more expensive than a caravan: nonetheless, not to distract from a gorgeous site. I would stay here again for certain.

Beautiful surroundings, wonderful views, excellent facilities, genial hosts who go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. Brilliant for children. What more is there to say about Beanhill. Close to the Forest of Dean. Lovely pub in the next village. Everything about the site is of a positive nature. For a stress busting stay it has to be the best site that we have visited. We will return.

Just had an amazing week at Beanhill. The site is beautifully kept, with the most obliging owners who could not do enough to help.
As you will tell from other reviews you have to pay for showers, but it is probably the best shower I have had whilst camping. It is a relatively small site, and all other campers were considerate and friendly.
Very unusual waking up to the sight of Llamas in the next field. Fresh eggs available each day at a small charge. I cannot recommend the site enough. We will certainly return!

Went over Easter with 4 adults 2 kids in a large tent.
Excellent site, with great service from the owners.
Lovely site, not overbooked so relaxed atmosphere and no queueing for the 2 showers/3 toilets.
The site is indeed on a hill, therefore sloping but this is no problem if you think before pitching.
The site is outside the forest, but conveniently located for all activities - we visited Puzzlewood, Wye Vally Butterfly Zoo, Symonds Yat and forest cycle trails.
The showers/toilets were unisex but this wasn't a problem for us.
It is 50p for 3 mins of showering, but considering that this site is much cheaper than some others in the Forest of Dean I was happy to pay it. Showers were hot and always clean.
It was pretty cold whilst we were there but for £5 a night we were able to hire a Brazer/fire pit and were supplied with wood.
Its a very family friendly site, they didn't hike up the prices over the bank holiday and we even had some Easter treats left by the owner!
If we were to visit the area again I would definitely use this campsite.

What a wonderful site! We had a lovely long weekend here with 24 other members of the family! Love the way we camp round the edge of the field and the middle is for use of cricket, rounders, football, rugby, badminton etc.
The sanitary facilities are very clean - it is 50p per 3 minutes in the shower but in fact you can get 2 children washed and almost yourself on one token. The local pub in Aylburton (The Cross) was brilliant and very accommodating.
As the name suggests it is a hill and the top of the hill is by far the flattest place to camp (pitches 1-5). It is not like other sites where the pitches are regimented but very free to pitch pretty much how you like. Gazebos are ok and no extra cost.
They have only one price through the year and also the facility to use braziers and wood to sit by in the evenings (£4-£5 per brazier and a bag of wood).
A lovely site managed by Theresa and her husband - highly recommend. It has become our number one site in the UK.

The owners were really lovely and chilled at Beanhill farm, they made us feel very welcome.
The only down side is the pitches are sloping- one thing my partner and I try to avoid at all costs as sleeping with your feet at a different angle to your head is never that great!
We also thought charging an extra 50p for showers is a little uncalled for seen as the cost for two people per night was £16 anyway. The showers were really lovely and clean and well looked after though, still, 50p though is unnecessary.
The surroundings of the camping field are very pretty and woodland, and we enjoyed walking around their little fishing lake.
We also liked the fact the owners said they don't like to cram people in. If this site was flatter and the 50p charge wasn't there, and there were more pubs in walkable distance, this would be the perfect campsite for us.

We were on a long motorway journey and found this a lovely and convenient place to stop overnight. Since we were able to pay in advance by card on the phone, we didn't have to worry about arriving late, or leaving early, which took some stress off the journey.
We were a little put out at first to find we had to negotiate narrow uphill lanes for a mile or so to get to the site, but managed it thanks to some very clear directions from the farm's website.
The site turned out to be so green we were delighted. The owner was friendly, the toilet blocks clean and brand new. Just a word of warning though - they are unisex, which everyone might not like. Also, you have to remember to buy tokens for the showers. There are number of electric hookups at the site, and also a couple of 'pods' - basic wooden camping shelters - which looked new.
The location is supremely quiet and secluded, and you would never think it is close to busy traffic routes. Also, the site was fairly empty which added to the rural feel. We were able to go on a short walk down to some beautiful ponds before we left. It really felt like the start of the holiday.
