Just spent an excellent night at this campsite directly below the Cheesewring Tor (and high above the plains down below as far as Dartmoor).
Such a friendly owner. And such a peaceful campsite. There is also a utility room/kitchen on the site.

Wonderfully located site with extensive views.
Last 1/2 mile is a bit tricky but here are plenty of passing spaces, make sure you follow the sites directions as otherwise you may well end up in trouble!
5 hardstandings with differing views all with close by hook ups.
Each facility comprises a toilet shower and washbasin which were more than adequate.
The 'cabin' has washing up facilities for campers along with a fridge. There is also a free to use washing machine (not many sites offer that) along with fire pits and logs, the latter they ask for a donation to a local charity
Can walk straight of the site onto Bodmin moor with the local village of Minions, with a pub, basic shop and café, some 20 minutes away.
If you have family/friends who do not camp but would like to join you they have 3 lovely cottages for hire as well.
There is masses of mining history in this area so we definitely plan to return to this most welcoming and practical little site.

Excellent campsite in great location. Loads of walking from the gate.
We were looking for a campsite in the area as our walking club (Railway Ramblers) had arranged a weekend of local railway walks. The site is as advertise, including complimentary cream tea on arrival. Cooked breakfast and dinners can be ordered from the owners.
Some of the hardstandings are not quite level, so you may need to use levelling ramps. Hook-ups are right next to the pitches. Toilet blocks are good and clean, but doormats would help keep floors clean. Some form of heating would also be good in the low season.
We would love to return some time.

Not always easy to get off the beaten track in Cornwall! This site is worth the effort, despite the rather challenging drive from Liskeard or Launceton and the single track road from Upton Cross.
You can walk or cycle from the campsite to the old mining village of Minions with its standing stones, visitor centre and village pub which has an excellent lunchtime menu. Lots of free parking on the edge of the village.
We received a very warm welcome from the owners who have clearly put a lot of money and effort into making this such a special campsite. 5 hookups, recently installed. The toilets and showers are excellent and there is the added bonus of spectacular views from the pitches. There is a campers kitchen with washing up facilities, a fridge and wifi.
Can't wait to return!

WOW! What amazing views! My husband and I have just returned from three nights camping here and will be returning as soon as we can. The site, although slightly sloping caused us no problems.
It is so very peaceful, no traffic noise, just sheep and cows occasionally to listen to.
The owners are very welcoming and helpful and the cream tea on arrival was unexpected and tasty. The toilets/showers are very clean and The Cabin (also very clean) has a washing machine, freezer, microwave, washing up facilities and free wi-fi.
There is plenty of walking around Minions over the moor and beyond. The Hurlers, Stowe's Hill, Sharp Tor and some old engine houses are all within easy reach. For anyone who loves the countryside, this is the place to come and Siblyback Reservoir a few miles along the road has various watersports to try.
Minions village has a small but well stocked shop and also serves as a cafe. We visited the Cheesewring Hotel in the village as we heard the food was good and had the most delicious meal here at a reasonable price and you should see the dessert board!
We were invited to see the holiday cottages at Cheesewring Farm (my parents will love it here) and they, too, are of a high standard.
A most enjoyable holiday.

The views from Cheesewring Farm are magnificent! After spending a week here we feel refreshed and uplifted and would recommend this site to anyone looking for a relaxing break on Bodmin Moor. The toilets and showers are spotlessly clean and well presented. Washing machine, freezer and microwave are also available if needed.
The new owners are working hard to introduce their own ideas and very high standards to this already well presented site.
We were greeted with a cream tea which was delicious and a very welcome surprise. We have been caravanning since 1977 and we have never had a welcome gift before. I told you, they have high standards and good ideas at Cheesewring Farm!
We are really looking forward to another visit.

Just back from a one night stay on this lovely site. Friendly and really welcoming owners, good and clean facilities and a wonderful location on the moor.
Electric is available for some sites but we stayed without. I recommend booking if you want to be sure to secure and an electric pitch. Some pitches are hard standing and some are grass. The grass is quite sloping in places but lots of levellers available.
Highly recommended - we will return.

This site has the most amazing views and wonderful walking. The new owners, who took over in October 2014, were really helpful and welcoming.
The Toilet and shower block was clean and spacious, more than enough for a small site.
The field is a bit slopey, but additional levelling blocks are provided, -we actually parked on the field driveway as it was quiet, easy to reach hookups.
The walk to Minions is no more than 20mins- a bit longer if you followed the road. The hotel and pub have a good write up in Tripadvisor, but we did not actually have time to try it.
Access for our van was easy- and we found it in the dark. Not so sure for really big towing units.
We would definitely visit again.

Just spent a very pleasant weekend at Cheesewring Farm.
The site is a little off the beaten track, via some narrow lanes, but is accessible with a 4 berth caravan. The main field does have a slope but there are plenty of large blocks to help you level your Unit.
This is a small basic site with a small but perfectly adequate and well cleaned toilet block.
The new owners are very friendly and the views are stunning. This is a great little site for those who like walking, hiking, climbing, or just like being being away from it all.
Nice village, with busy pub serving good food, is 20 mins walk away.

We booked and stayed at Cheesewring Farm on Saturday night, the place is hard to find not well sign posted at all. The grass is too long we found the owner who was friendly once he found the booking paperwork, he showed us to our pitch which was quite a long way from the hookup point we only had a 10mtr cable so he lent us a longer one. But the pitch was on quite a slope and we have to drive up onto railway sleepers. The two toilet blocks were dirty and had a filthy bucket of water to mop floor no hair dryer or power in block. Only one lady's one gents but it was a free for all people were using which one was empty. I wouldn't recommend the place the views were spectacular but that was all. We had wet feet due to walking across the long grass to toilet and our trousers got wet as well.
If this an example of caravan club then we won't be joining.
It is a 35min walk to village not 10min as the farmer informed us.
