This was our third overnight stay before returning to the UK. Would recommend for a stopover at the start or end of a trip.
Close to Calais centre and easy to find.
Good size pitches with water and electric close by. Washrooms large and clean. Secure with electric gate. Can be quite windy in exposed areas and some ferry noise during the night. Always someone on site if the office isn't open to show you to a pitch, a passport is usually taken as deposit until the office is next open for payment.

We stayed here having driven down from Yokshire, before setting off on our travels the following day. An adequate site - easy enough to get to from the tunnel and the site itself has neatly marked pitches (but very gravelly for tents), washing facilities, showers, toilets, even a small playground and place to play boules, which kept our children happy. A nice view over the sea too!
However, in comparison to the previous reviewer - who was in a motorhome - who said the ferry noise was 'not all that loud', I'd have to say the noise of the ferry engines thrumming all night long was sleep inhibiting. I didn't sleep all night and began the day with a huge headache!
So, great as a stop over, if you are in a caravan/motorhome.If you are in a tent, bring ear-plugs!

This site serves a purpose is how I would put it. We drove from Aberdeen to Folkstone and arrived with 2 very tired kids at 11pm. I decided to take the channel tunnel over and wild camp in Calais so we could drive fresh in the morning.
The site is based at the end of the town centre and is basically a carpark with the facility to fill with water and drop your waste. If you arrive at 1am like us it is a perfect place to put your head down for a few hours prior to driving south.
It costs 7€ and felt safe. You hear ferries all night but they are not all that loud. I could have been mistaken but I am sure this is the site of the old hovercraft runway. We stayed on a Saturday night and apart from a few boy racers showing off the site silent. I felt safe and would use this again for a head down point for a stay over.
