I am the owner of the pub in question-
The ladies toilets now have hot water and have gone through a small make over to improve them-
A cleaning schedule is in place, which we increase during holiday weekends-
Yes we are a pub and we have a function barn but generally the pub is closed by midnight and there is no loud music from the pub- on two occasions there have been very noisy events in the barn which is unfortunate - we are now having more family friendly private parties in the barn ie, wedding receptions, 40th and 60th birthday parties-
We have levelled as best we can the grounds. This is a traditional camping ground with no marked pitches, just pitch were you like-
We allow open fires, in fire pits, off the ground ( during really dry spells and before the harvest is in we don't allow them for obvious reasons)-
It is a real back to nature proper camping experience and really child friendly, real 'famous five' type place with woods to explore a canal tunnel 100 metres from the site, a mile from the source of the Thames,
Yes we have a cockerel but it is the countryside after all. Y
Es it was dusty during one of the reviewers visits, but after the driest April for 100 years it is not surprising, generally its fine.
We charge a very low rate for camping and do not charge a premium for bank holidays and peak times as I feel that would be a rip off

The location of the campsite is good - on the edge of a wood and nice walks within easy reach. However the site itself is far from perfect.
The toilet and shower facilities are adequate but don't know how often they get cleaned - not often by the look of it.
The site is quite hilly and rocky. Most 'pitches' mean that you have to carry your camping stuff from the car park, but it's not too far.
The car park is really dusty so if the wind is blowing the wrong way you'll get covered in dust.
The pub looks great and full of promise. Unfortunately our meal choice (mussels) was off and the pub customer service was a lot to be desired considering the prices they were charging for the food. Also the service was extremely slow when it was busy.
I would recommend taking ear plugs as if there is a function in the barn/pub it can get a bit noisy, plus there is an early rising cockerel and the occasional train going past the site.
The owner Mike is friendly but it is obvious the camping is not a priority. There are no shops in the vicinity.

We stayed over bank holiday weekend. We thought it was great that we were close to the shower/toilet facilities rather than in the field with portaloos half a mile away.
The main line railway that runs alongside the campsite and the cockerel that started at 4am were just about bearable but the hundreds of drunk teenagers that descended on the place on the Sunday night for a so called 'private party' was not an environment I was intending for a family weekend break! they didn't go until 3.30am and so we had no sleep which ruined the weekend. The next day the car park and campsite was littered with discarded drinks cans and used condoms- delightful sight for my children!
Overall - the food in the pub was ok though not fantastic as portrayed.
No hot water to wash up, no hot water in the ladies sinks. It would not take much effort to improve facilities. One shower which was not cleaned.
Good place to tour the area. Close to cirencester, lovely town to visit.

The Tunnel House Inn is a great country pub situated well off the road amid the glorious Cotswold countryside. It has beautiful views, a good food menu and a choice of real ales. Best of all it also provides bargain camping pitches for its customers!
The field is partly sloping and a little lumpy in places but it's easy to find a flat space for a smallish tent. There are toilets and showers exclusively for campers - basic but clean and perfectly adequate. For most of the pitches you will need to leave the car in the car park and carry your kit the short distance to the pitch. There are no shops nearby so bring supplies for breakfast.
This may not be the best place for a family holiday but for a short break in idyllic countryside with a wonderful pub / restaurant on the doorstep, its hard to beat.
It's worth noting that the primary enterprise for this site is the pub and the adjoining function room so you have to be prepared to accept any night time noise that is associated with this.

Excellent site in the most stunning area. The pub is vibrant but not noisy with great food. The site is really well looked after. Good showers and loos. Great site for walking or visiting cirencester, the owners were really friendly and helpful too. Charged only £6 per night which I thought was super value for money. Can't fault it at all and we will be back!

A brilliant campsite complete with brilliant pub!
The owner, Mike, made us feel really welcome as soon as we arrived. The site is to the rear of the pub, nice and small with ducks, pigs and chickens, and simple clean facilities. The pub has great food - served all day - and a relaxed, informal atmosphere. We enjoyed lounging around in the huge beer garden and soaking up the view across the fields. It's a really special place.
It's the best campsite we have been to a long time, and quite possibly the best pub too. Thanks Mike, we will be back!
